I have never in my life been treated so poorly as a customer and wouldnt step foot inside this place again for all the money in the world. Here is why.... My 12 year old dog is clearly dying. She was previously treated by a wonderful vet in Dr. Phillips for a slipped disc in her spine. The ideal option given to us would be going to a specialist for an MRI, which will lead to surgery totaling around $4,000. Unfortunately this is not possible. So we treat the inflammation with anti-inflammatory medication, steroids, and an antibiotic for chronic skin irritation, and wait up to two weeks. Side note-- along with all this, she has a bad knee that periodically pops out of place. Poor girl has seen better days. Things have not been getting better. No fault of the previous vet in Dr. Phillips-- my dog is just deteriorating. Fast forward to today, she has lost 100% of function in her back legs and wont stop panting in pain. She will not eat or drink or go to the bathroom (her first urination was 8pm!!). Its time. My husband and I have grieved, we have prayed, we have cried. Our mind has been made. She is so miserable. I refuse to watch her suffer. This is when I call and Im able to walk into Affordable Pet Care for a "possible euthanasia" for my dog. My main concern was the lack of going to the bathroom and kidney failure. The vet immediately started talking down to me and cutting me off. I told her the back story and she snarkily asked who treated her before and what medications he prescribed. I told her an anti-inflammatory and-- then she cut me off and said, "this can be fixed with steroids" ....to which I finished what I was saying-- and steroids. She said, "this is just what happens, you need to give it time!" So youre telling me its normal for a dog to go from walking, eating/drinking, and going to the bathroom to not doing ANY of that after being medicated? I later spoke to another vet that assured me that is NOT normal. I started crying as she berated me, telling me I can go to any other vet in the city, but she will not put down my dog. I told her we made up our minds and cant watch her suffer anymore, to which she just scoffed at me for not giving her more time and she wont help me. I scooped up my dog and said, "Im sorry, I need to go." She replied with, "its okay...dont be sorry." I then said, Im not sorry for you, Im sorry for me!" As Im storming out through the crowd of people waiting, she shouts at me "IM SORRY FOR HER!" As if Im some horrible person just casually putting my dog down over nothing! I call my uncle who has been a veterinarian in Kentucky for 30 years tell him what happened. Right away he had me do simple tests on her body to determine her pain level and if her spine has any feeling--which would determine the possibility of repair. He asked if she did any of these things-- NOPE! She hardly looked at my dog. Hardly touched her. Didnt even examine her back legs that are stretched straight out, crossed at the ankles, unable to move. This shows she puts her own feelings before the welfare of animals. I will be returning to the vet in Dr. Phillips on Saturday to say my final goodbye to my beloved dog who now gets to suffer for another two days. Its beyond heartbreaking. Through social media and word of mouth, I will make sure this information reaches as many people in Orlando. I will also be calling the DBPR License Board to report her for neglecting to acknowledge how bad the situation was, not knowing to do simple tests, and shouting at me for being a bad dog owner as Im leaving in tears. She is a horrible person who should not be working with the public.

I just left this vets office after trying to book my dog for a spay. A woman came from the back office and was asking questions about my dog, and which I reveal that she is heartworm positive; she was a stray that I found six months ago who has made a miraculous recovery, however we are currently battling heartworms. The woman had a very bad attitude about my treatment methods which is currently the monthly pill. I told her I wanted to spay my dog before moving to injection therapy. She proceeded to ask me why I wanted to lock my dog away in a cage to be inactive for 2-3 weeks when I can just put her on a monthly pill for a year or more in hopes of beating the heartworms. I told her that my current vet said that is a very ineffective treatment, and does not follow American heartworm society standards. She proceeded to ask me why Im not getting my dog spayed at my current vets office, to which I revealed that its over $300. Overall she was very negative and this was an awful experience. I did not like being treated like a criminal because my dog has heartworms and I have her best interest in mind. Also I am including a direct quote from the American heartworm Societys page in which it does not recommend a monthly treatment for heartworms; so if youre seeing this vet you might want to take your dog or cat elsewhere if they have heartworms. "AHS recommends use of doxycycline and a macrocyclic lactone prior to the three-dose regimen of melarsomine (one injection of 2.5 mg/kg body weight followed at least one month later by two injections of the same dose 24 hours apart) for treatment of heartworm disease in both symptomatic and asymptomatic dogs. Any method utilizing only macrocyclic lactones as a slow-kill adulticide is not recommended."

You get what you pay for. We went in 3 months ago with a stray puppy and they told us that he was a 2 year old dog and to stop feeding him puppy food. We got all his shots and we were told that was it. We went in today because of blood in his feces and when they smelled his feces(he had an accident in the waiting room) we were informed that he had worms and had 3 days to live. Then we were blamed for not making an appointment earlier, the bloody stool incident happened an hour before we got there. They then continued to make us an appointment for next week. We took him to another vet on Silver Star that realized his problem and took us right away. The "dog" now has hook worms because he never received his second set of shots that Affordable Vet Care was supposed to give him. Turns out that the "2 yr old dog" is a 9mt-1 year old puppy. They were very cold and insensitive to our puppys needs. Oh my son tells me now that while we were there 3 months ago there was a dog that was possibly contagious and they just left it outside in the front so all the dogs coming in and out would interact with it.

Horrible experience. Dr would not put my 14 yr old sick kitty down. She never examined him or anything. Said he had a minor infection and could be cured for little money. I was confused and didnt understand who would ever act like I WANTED to put my cat down!? She berated me and yelled loudly as I left in front of many people, "You should be ashamed of yourself!" The nerve of that woman! Who runs a business like that? And you know what...she was wrong because I took him to another vet that ran tests and said he was too far gone and they put him down immediately. Super sad situation and this Dr made a bad choice. I read other reviews that state the SAME situation... that Dr has no right to treat clients this way.
