First of all: The person who had a basset hound for EIGHT years and still hadnt got the skin infection cleared up IS irresponsible. The dog should have been taken to a vet dermatologists years ago. Would she let her child suffer for EIGHT YEARS with a condition like this? Ignore her comments. I rate this clinic Excellent because they take a common sense, more conservative approach to care. Example: other vet said my dogs cough could be due to congestive heart failure and sent me to a vet cardiologist ($$$$) who recommended an MRI ($3000) to find out. Ive been a medical provider for years, so didnt go for it. Dr Pugsleys thoughts were: Yes, we could order an MRI to find out, but how about we try a diuretic (pill) and see if that clears up the problem (that pretty much would tell us if she has a heart problem). Example: another vet said my dogs teeth needed cleaning ASAP because they were really bad. Didnt look too bad to me, so had Dr Pugsley check them. His comment: "that vet has never seen really bad teeth". They werent bad enough to cause problems at this stage, so didnt need cleaning ASAP. Everything he has done/prescribed has been effective. And I was really impressed that after I had taken my Pit Bull in for an injury that other vets would have done surgery to fix, it was healed perfectly with the less invasive approach and he called like 5 times to check on her progress. I was amazed. Most impressive.

I have owned my dog for 8 years, and every one of those 8 years hes had trouble with his skin. Hes a Basset Hound, they are known for stinky yeasty skin. When I met with Dr. Pugsley he treated me like I was an idiot who didnt know anything about my own dog and the treatment he needs to get well. He saw that I had an infant and assumed that I was a neglectful owner because of it. He over medicated my dog with an ineffective cortisone shot, even though I specifically told him that steriods have NEVER worked for Toby. He also forced a skin scraping to look for mites, even though I told him that Toby has had more than his share of skin scrapings in his 8 years, never once turning over a mite! He has an abundance of yeast. Not bugs! I received terrible service at this Veterinary Clinic and was forced to pay extra for it as well.

The receptionist was the only good part about that visit. We went in for a ripped off nail on our dogs paw. The vet never once actually took a good look at it just gave us some aspirin. Didnt try to tell us how to care for the wound or keep her off it, he was more concerned about her diet and how were managing fleas, mind you shes 2, very healthy in good weight, and doesnt even have fleas. He spent more time talking about the lady and the dog before us than he did looking at our dogs paw. He didnt address our concerns at all. Were not going back, ever, and I let the receptionist know that was a bs visit. She gave us more info on how to take care of her than he did. Sticking with Sequoia Vet.

We bring all four of our dogs here. We even have a 7 year rescued Lab who has been very fearful of any male vet. Never once has she shown fear towards Dr. Pugsley or his staff. They have always been upfront with cost and have done well to be conservative with treatments.

This clinic is much much better for emergency pet care compared to Dove Lewis. They dont nickel and dime you for everything, and their general costs are all lower too. The employees are also friendlier. They are upfront about everything and I would recommend going here.
