They have permanently lost my business. Last Saturday my dog was having trouble breathing so I called the office around 5:40 pm - 5:45 pm. No one picked up. This was after checking online for their hours (non was listed) then Facebook where it states they were closed at 6 pm. I rush her to the office hoping to catch someone as they are our regular vet. Got there exactly 6pm. No lights and no cars in the parking lot. I call again for their emergency extension. It hung up on me 3 times with absolutely no information given!! I then Google nearby vets and realized Banfield Pet Hospital in PetSmart a few blocks away was still open. When they realized it was her breathing we were seen immediately. They took great care of us and recommended taking her to the ER at VCA Animal Hospital in Clackamas since she needed oxygen and was in possible heart failure and they were not equipped with what she needed (oxygen, overnight observation, and an echocardiogram). Not only did he not charge me, he also contacted VCA to tell them to expect us, faxed over and printed out his diagnosis for me to bring to them just in case, and printed me out directions on how to get there. All this in under half an hour time. Banfield even called to check up on her the next day and asked for updates. Since then Ive had to bring her to the ER 2 more times plus a visit with a cardiologist, each time asking them to fax over her information after each visit to Gresham Animal Hospital. I have yet to hear from anyone and its been over a week. I have never seen such lack of care from so-called vets for their own patient. I am currently looking for a new vet since clearly mine could care less.

I will never take my animals here to Gresham Animal Hospital because all they care about is money. Long story short: My cat Ada was in labor for three days. The second day she had one last baby stuck in her uterus, so we talked to Dr. Chris (and he was VERY condescending) at the GAM and he told us to take her to Dove-Lewis emergency hospital because he was busy with a patient. So we do. There the Drs give her fluids and tell us to get her spayed in the morning (the dr at dove-lewis said it would cost between $250-400). When we got to the Gresham Animal Hospital the next morning Dr. Chris said it would cost $900-$1,100 for the Emergency C-Section. We told him that we wanted to do a spay where they dont worry about saving the kitten and not a c-section where they try to save to kitten because the Dr. at Dove-Lewis said the kitten was dead. He refused to do it for less because he wanted to call it an emergency c-section.So we left and while in their parking lot made an apointment with another vet at Crossroads Vet in Sherwood (Her original vet) and they said they could do it for a MAXIMUM amount of $350! Ada just happened to finally push that last baby out on her own by the time we got to the other vet. But my cat COULD have died! It was already heartbreaking to know that she had to be in pain for as long as she was because we couldnt afford the $2000 it would have cost at Dove-Lewis, and then for this dr. to overcharge and make us wait longer is just barberic. So in my opinion the Gresham Animal Hospital only cares about money and not the animals. PERIOD!

Ive only been to this place once and I will NEVER return. Brought my dog in because he took a rib bone off the table and was choking and vomiting. My first impression was wow this place is really nice. The receptionist looked like a punk kid that didnt give a damn. The wait was short. The Dr. was nice. She said she had other doctors look at the X-Rays to make sure they werent missing anything, which I though was great. This place is also way expensive. The next day my dog was still choking and vomiting. She said "Oh its probably just acid reflex give him some pepto bismol for a couple days. Finally with no change I took him to Banfield. All they did was look down his throat and barely notice something white like a bone stuck in his throat. They sedate him and confirm a 1/2 in bone. So instead of just assuming what the problem was. Banfield made sure to look at the whole picture. You would think that would be the first thing a vet does is look down the throat. Banfield then referred us to Dove Lewis and provided us with directions and an option for Care Credit. The next day after surgery, Banfield called back to see how my pup was doing. Im still wondering if GAH will be calling....

I love this animal hospital. I travel pretty far, usually with a screaming cat in a carrier, to come here and they make it as easy as possible. Dr. Chris Holenstein and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, deeply committed to animals, calm, thoughtful, courteous, funny, and exemplar professionals. Theyve never failed to come up with some way to help, no matter what Ive come to them with. Sometimes Im a doting, overworried, fussy cat owner and they are always kind and meticulous. They are technically gifted, keep very current, seek outside help when at all indicated, do everything they can, and I trust them absolutely. Not every animal can, or should be, saved. I trust Dr. Chris and his staff to know the difference, explain the situation, and guide me to the best solution. That is all that can be asked of a vet. And in their calm, competent way, they still go several extra miles beyond what can be reasonably asked. If a miracle is available, they will pull it out, and when it isnt, they are decent, honest, and compassionate.

Dr. Chris saw our dog tonight. He opened the clinic for us after the close of business. My dog was in a lot of pain, and was very anxious. Dr. Chris was very soothing to my dog (and to my wife and I), explaining the treatment options, the expected outcomes, and the back up plans. The emergency treatment went really, really well. Dr. Chris did not charge us any kind of emergency/urgent fee. The price was extremely reasonable (I would have gladly paid double for the care we received under the circumstances). What impressed me most was how obviously Dr. Chris cares about animals. It was clear from the way he dealt with my dog, and the way he took every measure to make sure that my dog was as calm as possible and experienced as little pain and anxiety as possible. I had never been to the Gresham Animal Hospital before tonight (we have a different vet), but I will be taking my dog there in the future. I cant recommend this establishment enough. Thanks, Dr. Chris.

You know, I never really expected emotional care for pet owners was a part of the deal. Now, after having fretfully babbled to the staff and Dr. Moran over several days about our beloved pets discomfort I realized how much I needed their reassurance and responsiveness to any issue. Dr. Moran has operated on our beloved cat twice now. What a pragmatic, skilled and kind gentleman! Hes very honest and peaceful to speak with. They made it very clear that I should call for anything without hesitation. Which I did - a lot. And they really mean it. Geez, if I was near panic, theyd tell me to come right down to check kitty out. The sweet staff always greets kitty and me with affection and decency. Most of all, they really are committed to make our cat as comfortable as possible. Our family is so hooked. Keep a great vet. Which, for us, will now always be Gresham Animal Hospital.
