Ive been wearing glasses for over 20 years, and have seen a lot of eye doctors! I started going here about a year ago, and just went back this week for an exam and new pair of glasses. I like that Dr. Adelman takes time to explain to me what hes doing and what is happening with my eyes. I feel like I am getting good care, and Im also learning more about my eyes than other doctors ever bothered to share. I also like that they give you a copy of your prescription right up front as part of the exam -- no need to awkwardly ask for it if you want to get glasses or contacts elsewhere. Though, FWIW, I like their glasses selections both style and price-wise and have always ended up buying through them. Nancy is helpful with picking out frames, lens materials, etc., and when I went to pick them up, Tom helped adjust them to fit just right.

Dr. Adelman and company have exacting service in a relaxed atmosphere. He is a completest when it comes to eye health and doesnt shy away from giving honest opinions about the industry and advocating for what is best for his patients even though most optometry shops would rather keep on selling you stuff. Their selection of eye-wear (which is non-Luxottica, look it up) is top notch and my only regret is that my gigantic head could not fit some of the more fantastic hand-made Japanese frames. A colorful selection of kids frames are also carried by the shop. Gradually, I found a Helium-Paris pair that looks very sharp on my big noggin and have been expertly adjusted to fit by the staff. Top-shelf friendly service and high-quality glasses. Going again soon to get a second pair.

Had a really excellent experience here! Eye exam went quick and well, but then I had to get the lenses for my updated prescription put in at Lenscrafters because they have a one-hour lab (I only have the one pair of frames so I needed to be able to wait around for them). Well, Lenscrafters completely messed up the adjustment on my frames (without my permission) such that they were giving me terrible headaches. When I called the kind folks here for help, they readjusted them for me - properly! - for no cost. Again, really happy with the service at Portland Eye Care!

I was told I would get a 6 moth supply of contacts. I payed 70 dollars up front for them. They did come in fast. I picked up my contacts not knowing i had only received 3 pairs. I called about this the next day and was told my box cost 70 dollars because the doctor sets the price. I have bought these contacts before one box should have only cost 35 dollars. Do your reserch before seeing these people and make sure you are actually getting what you pay for. I bet if I had got my perscription from this doctor I would have gotten honest service

Im terrible with names, so pardon me if I am wrong. Dr. Adelman and Cindy were both extremely courteous, engaging, and professional. I was in at the same time as another patient and the two flowed between working with each of us quickly and efficiently. The shop is small, cozy, and very comfortable to be in. An entire eye exam, dilation, and ordering of glasses took no longer than thirty-five minutes. I also learned quite a bit, as the Doctor liked to explain what exactly he was looking at within my eyes and how certain parts worked.

While on vacation in Portland, I needed to get some contact lenses when I lost the pair that I took with me. I called this shop because I saw the great reviews on google and had the pleasure of speaking to Tom. He was a gem to talk to, and said that I can come in to get new contact lenses. You saved my "bacon", Tom! And for that, I thank you very much. If you live in Portland and are looking for an optometry shop, you wont be disappointed by the service and heart that this shop has. Thanks again, Tom!

I like the Dr. I have had exams from him at another location. 5 star service in my opinion. A little disappointed by the rest of the crew. I specially asked if they accepted my insurance which pays for an eye exam every year and was told yes. It was a half truth, I got a follow up phone call asking for over $100 to cover my exam. I wont be returning and after reading the other reviews I wont be ordering my contacts there either.

clean, quiet, professional. my only comparison is the us navy and va which take real good care of us operators and deck hands alike. definitely the most comfortable glasses Ive worn, custom made for this facility. it can get real expensive it you go full on, or it can be easily affordable if you stick to the basics. so rock stars to average kids you are covered and well looked after by this boutique shop on division.

This place is great. I was able to get a same-day appointment and called ahead to make sure it was okay to bring my infant daughter. Dr. Adelman was really patient when I had to hop out of the chair to tend to my daughter and was able to do a thorough examination despite the distraction. The staff was warm and welcoming and helped me identify frame shapes that look good on me.

Dr. Adelman is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. He answers questions in language that makes sense. Nancy McCormick is knowledgeable and has been very helpful with resolving frame fit issues, lense option questions, and has gone above and beyond trying to locate frames that will fit correctly and optimize my vision. I highly rcommend this office.

First time to try glasses (I have/had been very lucky never need glasses). The Doctor took time to explain me everything very simple and easy to understand. The receptionist helped me choosing the frame, lenses and features so effectively. Very clear and simple explanation of the charges and the insurance coverage. In very short time. Thank you.

Dr. Adelman is so much fun. I am able to schedule my daughter and I together and we get in and out very quickly. My 7 year old daughter really enjoys her eye Dr. too, though I think she wishes she needed glasses! Great lobby space makes sitting with children very comfortable as well. I highly recommend this office, everyone there is wonderful.

I definitely recommend this place. I walked in (while the Dr. was still on his lunch) and he made time to see me. Explained everything in lots of detail, told me all of my contact and lenses options without trying to upswell me, and all around just a really good experience. I will definitely be making this my new clinic for eye care.

Great eye clinic. Staff was flexible, friendly and knowledgable. I have spent years trying new places and describing the same problem I have to figure out how to reduce strain with my eyes. Dr Adelman listened and spent time going through scenarios and tests to find a solution. I will be scheduling appointments for my family.

Walked in without appointment to get an exam with no problem. Although I was a bit surprised to find out that I have keratoconus in my right eye but it was a pleasant enough experience. Pretty quiet & relaxing atmosphere. Optician was a tad pushy & seemed desperate to make a sale though. And their frames arent my style.
