I was at the ER and placed in a hallway possibly due to the category of my symptoms .I noticed the more urgent patients were in rooms which was fine with me. Everyone was very nice and accomodating. Found out though that I needed emergency surgery and did nuc med testing to find out whats the matter. Soon I was brought to ER in a room this time waiting to be admitted. I was brought to the surgical floor where I waited for surgery. I was very comfortable and felt very cared for. This is a Catholic Hospital and there were crucifix in all the hallways ,all the rooms, and once in the morning and evening there were prayers said aloud on the intercom. There is pastoral service and a priest or a chaplain came to see me everyday, which was comforting. They prayed with me in an open environment where God was welcome. The OR staff was very caring too .Dr Delone ,a GI surgeon, did my surgery . He did a great job saving my life . The surgeon checked on me daily. I was able to order food from room service and they brought my food up within 30 minutes. The 4 th floor nursing unit were wonderful, attentative, and caring. I only have nice things to say about my week stay. Valet parking is free until 6pm daily. There is a church inside the building where they have Holy Mass. It is open 24 hours for any Christian to come and pray in a serene atmosphere. There are two cafeterias and a piano that plays music in the hallway. Honestly I didnt want to leave because they took care of me so well. This is a great Hospital , of course it depends on what you need that will depend on which Hospital is right for you. This happened to be the right Hospital for me. It was where the Lord entrusted me.

Sacrilegious-: Rated with 1/2 STAR With all due respect, I resent every explanation of how services were rendered at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Lets start with inadequate communications and disorganized operations. Wait, most importantly an excessive "4 HOUR" wait time to see a provider!!!! As we walked into the already crowded room. We noticed individuals coughing as if they were going to pass out and vomiting and what seemed to be an extension of the ER carried into the waiting room. We panicked as our 19 month old son with fever and in excruciating pain was helpless. All he could do was cry and fall in and out of sleep. All Better Care had previously called the ER of our arrival, not that it made a bit of difference. As time passed, I spoke with registration a number of times concerning my son and the fact that they stated, "They have no control over preference" concerning a 19 month child with a high fever whom could not identify or explain the level of pain only reveals them to be insensitive as they are tone-deaf. Preposterously, they did ensure that a technician strolled by every hour to take vital signs. Whom by the way, wrote them down on a scrap paper, how derelict! Meanwhile, out of exhaustion and frustration, I finally yelled about treatment of my son and their methods overall. Ten minutes later we were called back, how coincidental. Finally, seen by the doctor whom we never saw again. The outcome measure for my son was atrocious, in fact he had gotten worse! Holy Spirit can truly be disparaging to patients! Word of advice, RUN as services here are execrable!!! TOTAL DUD!!!!!

In summation , aka "bottom line" ...things can be better at this hospital . LISTEN CARE LOVE I wish I knew how to get this message across , particularly to the "top", then the doctors .. Our nation suffers from "classism" ! Five stars for the Pacemaker implantation. Three stars for the doctors in general .. Four stars for the nurses .. they DO make the place .. but some are far from perfect . Three stars for the hospital itself .. As an ex-patient(July 12 thru 16) , I feel that I am qualified to makes these assessments .. Not happy at all with this place with how they handled the "loss" of my pen and clipboard - very uncaring ! Ten stars for one nurse and one doctor .. zero stars for me as I know not their names .. To add : without question, a ton of attitude improvement is necessary .. Id like to see the VA and private institutions merge .. Id like to see a ton more in working together .. Records and paperwork .. still in the dark ages ! Where are the super-computers ?? .. this is where they are needed, NOT on battlefields ! IMO, the problem is "classism"..

This hospital has failed to meet even my most basic expectations when I sought treatment here multiple times during my pregnancy. Despite serious warning signs in blood work, urine tests and symptoms I was experiencing, they repeatedly gave me hydration and sent me home. I had low platelets and elevated liver enzymes, along with high blood pressure. Serious red flags for a pregnant woman. I dont think they even had an OB check on me. Eventually I started with severe upper right quadrant pain. I went back to the hospital. Again, told it was morning sickness, hydrated, and sent home. The pain got worse and I went to a different hospital only a few hours after being discharged from Holy Spirit and was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome - a life threatening condition of pregnancy. The pain was caused by bleeding in my liver. I ended up losing the babies (twins). Its not their fault I got HELLP as you cant prevent it, but maybe if they had taken the time to put the picture together or just been concerned that my ALT was somewhere close to 400 I could have gotten proper treatment sooner.

Ive gone here on multiple occasions for serious migraines, every time they have put me in the hallway on a gurney under the million lights and next to the counters where people are answering phones and clicking away at their key boards. When my mother asked if I could be moved because I had already been waiting 5 hours, an hour in the waiting room and 4 after being put in the hallway, we were told that there were no rooms available for me. I was watching the nurses cleaning out rooms and other people move in to them..My mother started getting concerned for me cause I could no longer acknowledge the people around me so once more she asked if I could be put in a quieter location and the nurse responded that there were people in worse off condition. I waited 7 hours, it was 2 a clock in the morning when I was finally seen and all they did was give me shot of hematrex which my mother had warned them I didnt do well on before and then sent me out the door in a wheel chair because I couldnt walk out on my own.

Our recent experience in the emergency room prompted me to decide not use the hospitals services again should it be needed in the future. Respiratory was prompt to respond and communicative, and other tests were ordered and processed. We asked to talk to the nurse 4 different times and after close to 3 hours in the emergency room, she came to see us (and the patient) for the first time. This makes me wonder when the nurse would have visited the room, had we not asked for her repeatedly. The doctor had very little empathy for the family which reflected in his communication style. One shining star in this experience was Dr. Zee (I cant remember his full name). He took the time to explain the health status to us in a friendly and empathic manner. Though the immediate medical need was responded to, there is opportunity for improvement in customer communication.
