I met with Dr. Dorfman about three years ago now and I am still negatively effected by his rash and unprofessional manner. After completing his intake interview and speaking to him about my most intimate details of my life he turned on me, became angry with me and kicked me out his office for the behaviors of my almost two years old. As a nurse, I know there was a more professional way of managing this situation and Dr. Dorfman couldnt be bothered with finding it. As I left he told me that he was the best psychiatrist in Chester County. This is a gross overestimate! As a nurse who has worked with neurosurgical residents, I can tell you this is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. At my most vulnerable Dr. Dorfman could not find compassion or offer any hope and my wish is that you seriously consider your situation before meeting with him.

I highly recommend you stay away from Michael. I wont even call him a doctor. He hardly ever says anything. He annoyingly keeps saying, "Im proud of you," or "You look well." When he does talk, its to gaslight you into questioning your own sanity and making you feel a sense of shame. Michael misdiagnosed me and put me on meds that, among other things, threatened my sexual functioning. If he is holding you against your will in involuntary treatment, and you find his conduct unethical, then take courage and contact the state licensing board to get his license revoked.. I have heard many awful stories about this man and also I myself have suffered at his hands. This man is flat-out incompetent. You should trust that initial sensation of weirdness you get when you first encounter him.

I have been seeing Dr. Dorfman for 8 years...and I can say that he has absolutely helped me change my life for the better. I initially met him at a crisis center where he volunteered his services & have followed him as he has evolved into his own personal practice. He actually cares about his patients, and has made me realize that Im not alone in my struggles with mental health. Hes caring,compassionate & Im so grateful to have him as my doctor. A few others made negative comments about him...chances are those people werent as invested in their mental health as much as he is...If you want a psychiatrist who is truly invested in his patients, Dr. Dorfman is the one for you.
