I have been to a lot of dentists and I had a lot of work done in the past. The difference between the other dentists and Dr. Nick is that he loves what he does, he knows what he is doing and he takes pride of his work. I had two teeth missing (one was extracted more than two decades ago). Dr. Nick did such a great job on the first one that I decided to have him do the second one within three months period. He placed the implant at 6:00pm on both "surgeries" and without having to take any pain killers, the next morning I remembered that I had implants inside my gums by feeling the stitches and not because I felt any discomfort or pain (Dr. Nick is amazing). The same goes for the actual crowns that were placed on the implants. They look great (they look like regular teeth) and they feel as strong and normal as the rest of my teeth. There arent many doctors that will perform the surgery and place the implant themselves, you have to go to a specialist and then you have to go to your dentist to do rest. This costs money and it made me feel great knowing that my dentist will/can do all the work at his office. I had cleanings done by Dr. Nick himself (my previous dentist would not even come to see me sometimes after my cleanings by the hygienist). Everyone that works there is very nice and knowledgeable and Tony is fantastic. I could keep going on and on. I have read thousands of reviews in my life, but this is the first time that I am posting a review. Dr. Nick and his staff definitely worth it. Give him a try, very rarely you can find professionals that are very reasonable on their pricing, they love what they do and they can deliver results that will keep you smiling for the rest of your life!

DO NOT GO HERE! Decided to check out a new dentist so I went to Afton Dental. Got a cleaning with xrays. The xrays came back negative for cavities but after the cleaning they said I had 4 cavities! Ive never had a cavity in my life and I take great care of my teeth. They also said I needed teeth pulled to make room? They really tried to sell me on filling the cavities for $300 EACH and over $1200 for the teeth pulling. I didnt trust them and got a weird feeling from the two dentists so I told them to hold off on the fillings. A few days later I was at a party and a dentist was there. He said he didnt see any cavities and I should go to my family dentist ive been going to for years because some dentists try to sell you on things you dont need done, much like some auto mechanics. I made an appointment with my usual dentist and he gave me a full exam and guess what he said... I DONT HAVE ANY CAVITIES! He said that he hears occasionally that dentists will try to take advantage of young professionals who look like they can spend the cash on dental work. Now I understand why they sounded more like used cars salesman than dentists. I want to report them to the Better Business Bureau for this. Im sure they have been reported before.

After years spent avoiding dentists due to a number of particularly souring experiences as a child, I finally found myself in the uncomfortable position of needing an emergency root canal around Christmas. While I had the initial work performed at another office, I ultimately found my way to Afton Dental and Dr. Nicks office. The trepidation I had was soon allayed by a friendly and welcoming staff who on every subsequent visit have done everything possible to assure me that I am being provided with top-service care, including welcoming me by name on each visit. Dr. Nick has a calm but assertive demeanor which communicates competence and puts you at ease, an invaluable characteristic for any medical practitioner but especially for dentists (in my case, at least). As for the rest of the staff, Tony and Rosemary are friendly and patient and willing to work with you depending on your needs and your budget. Julia, the dental hygienist, seems equally skilled and kind. I noticed a reviewer below commented on the appearance of the office. My reply would be that while the office is perhaps not the most modern in appearance, the level of service and care are as high as you could find anywhere. I highly recommend this place!

I must admit, the dentist has always been a terrifying experience for me, but Afton Family Dental made it quick and painless. Its been a few years since Ive been to the dentist. This was one of the least painful, most efficient and comfortable dentist visits Ive ever had in Philadelphia. The staff is very courteous and professional. Dr. Tanner & his assistants made me feel at ease, assuring me every step of the way. Dr. Tanner was extremely thorough and clear on what he was doing. Even though this was a distressing situation for me, I felt Dr. Tanner & co. made sure I was as relaxed as possible. Theyre honest & caring, and stand behind their work. I applaud the very impressive and efficient office. All the costs were clearly explained upfront. I am extremely pleased with their professional, yet personable service. Ive found them to be accommodating and will hopefully see them for years to come. I most definitely recommend this joint! -Felicia M. Rotondo

Needing a new dentist that accepted my insurance and that was close by to both work and home, I happened to come across Afton Dental. Never had I been in better care than with Dr. Nick. He was patient and informed me of everything that was happening at each step of the way. I never felt rushed and he was very thorough in all of the dental work that I had completed. I was very comfortable and was put at ease. They have always been accommodating to my schedule and ultra friendly. Being a new graduate and with loads of student loans, they were very understanding in that I cannot pay everything all at once and offered affordable payments. I am now a loyal patient and will be coming here for all of my dental work!

I was referred to Afton Family Dental by my daughters orthodontist. My daughter and I were very pleased with the staff and the treatment she received at Afton Dental. Because of that, I also became a patient. I had to have an emergency root canal - which I was very nervous about, but the procedure was not painful at all. The staff was very accommodating to my schedule, gentle, professional and kind. I felt 100% better the day after the procedure. The staff is very informative, and they make you feel at ease. I totally trust Afton Family Dental to all of mine and my familys dental needs. I highly recommend them to all of my family and friends. I only wish I was referred years ago.

When I made my first appointment with Afton Dental I was a "dental" chicken. I had a couple of bad experiences with dentists and had no desire to go to a dentist again, but I have been going now for over a year and have not had a problem with the care given. The staff is very accomodating and work to schedule an appointment around you. If you are a "dental" chicken, I suggest you give Afton Dental a chance. Dr. Clark is very good at putting you at ease and makes sure that you are not in pain (very important), and he explains everything he is doing. My husband and I are now regulars at Afton Dental and dont plan on going any place else for our dental care. Thanks Afton Dental!
