The worst. I called to set an appointment. I spoke to a Lourdes who asked what my insurance was and before I could answer she hung up. I thought that maybe this was a mistake. I had my girlfriend call minutes later and guess who answered again? Lourdes! My girlfriend said that she wanted to set up an appointment based on my doctors referral. Lourdes once again asked for insurance and guess what happened again? Lourdes Hung up. I called back again later and got another customer service agent and told her I was calling to set up an appointment. I never got a chance to tell what my doctor was referring me to the Eye Institute for. I gave this Customer Serive agent my insurance information and was told they didnt except it. I called my insurance company and they said that The Eye Institute was in their network . I then went to my eye insurance website and The Eye Institute was listed as a provider under my insurance. Theyre customer service agents that I encountered seemed to want to be in a race to get off the phone as soon as possible(maybe theyre competing in their call center for quickest call times?). poor customer service. my eye needs to be checked but their customer service agents seem to only care about their call center numbers.

I read “bullibuc’s” comment where he said that “Lourdes” hanged up the telephone. You are lucky, I have been trying to get a LIVE person to pick up the line for some time. When I did get through, I gave them my information-they said they didn’t have me on their network- not under my name or my DOB or address-when they did fine me they had to resort to using my cell number. So now I’m good-right? Don’t bet on it. I see a specialist-they could not find HIS schedule. They said the doctor has to put it up-REALLY. Then they tried to give me an appointment with a regular eye doctor – I had to convinced the person that seeing a regular doctor would not help me. They told me to call back. When I call back same problem. :-{ This problem has been going on since they were taken over a few years ago, I wonder if the directors are aware of the problem. I agree with “bellibuc” when he states; “Theyre customer service agents … seemed to be in a race to get off the phone as soon as possible (maybe theyre competing in their call center for quickest call times?). poor customer service.” Like “bellibuc” I too need urgent eye care, so I am looking for a new doctor.

Overall, when you get examined by the doctors, they are thorough. They take their time, ask questions and do everything to get the correct prescription. Experienced as well. I also like their eye wear center, there is a great selection to chose from. I never had to wait long to get seen. The thing that is preventing me from giving 5 stars are two things: appointments are too far out and the actual examinations are TOO long. When I call to set an appointment, I have to wait 2 months now...sometimes longer. My son has been going there for 13 years....it was never like that. The examinations, why they are thorough. they are long. About 60 minutes. One time my mother had a negative experience with taking my son, they had an appointment and she waited for like 60 minutes after her appointment time and finally asked what was going on. The lady stated "emergencies" etc. My mom stated it was rude of them not to apologize or offer an explanation earlier. She never wanted to go again and never has.

My 4 year old had an eye exam. The only problem is that the University students did his eye exam first. They learned how to adjust the various devices (glaucoma puff tester, the device that gives an idea of what your prescription should be, etc.) to accomodate my son. The bright lights shining in your eyes, and reading the same eye chart can get old for me, so for my DS, to sit through the first Hour of the exam was good. THEN the eye doc came in and did it all again. Our 2 HOUR! exam, that ran through his lunch time was EXHAUSTING for us both. in the end he did receive a quality reading, but right now I know I am going to get a fight from him when we have to go back for our next visit.

They used to be good but as of late I made an appointment and there wasnt an opening until 3 MONTHS after I needed one. Then I had to reschedule for over a month later because whoever scheduled me gave me an appointment when the doctor isnt in. So I had to settle for an appointment 2 weeks later at a branch much farther away from me. The worst part is that I am badly in need of new glasses and the I was due for new ones 4 months ago. If you have a choice, go somewhere else! (Plus everyone in the office besides the doctors had horrible attitudes.)

I like The Eye Institute and have been a patient there for many years. The facility is near public transportation, the staff is very professional, and the facility is very clean. I usually have a specialty care appointment every 3 months. The only problem Ive experienced with the facility is on a few occasions, after waiting almost 3 months for my next appt., TEI contacts me to tell me I have to reschedule because the doctor wouldnt be in that day. I reschedule and the next available appt. is 2 more months away.

Cant I just give no stars? This place is a joke! Employees fight with each other infront of customers which doesnt make you feel very comfortable. Theyre very rude and dont break you a deal for there stupidity. They tell you glasses are ready and then you get there and they cant find them and finally 20 minutes later they find them not ready after they told me over the phone there ready to be picked up!! outrage!! Ill never go there again and let everyone know that place is terrible!

Wow, the receptionist or whoever receives the phone call for the Eye Institute is unbelievably rude. I tried to schedule an appointment, this lady offered me two different dates that unfortunately did not work out with my schedule, and she gets extremely frustrated over the phone and angrily asks which days I am "actually" available. I wonder if she even gets paid to work there.

The front desk people are nice, however you will wait FOREVER!!! Appointment was scheduled for 10:30 AM for my mother. Its now 12:00 PM and were still in the waiting area. No updates. No apologies. I would not recommend this place at all!! Maybe by tomorrow Ill be able to complete the review. Thats probably when they will call her name

They are the BEST!! I have been a patient for many, many years!! I have tried other places but I always go back to the Eye Institute. They are thorough and I always leave there feeling confident about the services I receive. I have taken my daughter since she was a little girl and she feels the same.

I hate having to call this place! They either dont answer or you get someone on the phone that has no telephone etiquette and no information. Ive been told for 2 months that my daughters glasses would be ready within a week. They are ridiculous. (Review based only on eyeglass department)
