Over the past many years, I have turned to Warwick Animal Hospital for emergency care for very ill cats. My cats always seem to need care at night and on Sundays, so even though they are not my usual vet, I have sought their help. The first time I found a small kitten hanging by his neck in a bush. He had expended all his energy and I (and the vet we saw there) didnt think hed make it. The doctor said that I could leave him there overnight, but he didnt think it would help, and be very expensive. Instead, he taught me how to give him fluids by injection. Against all odds the little guy survived. Two times I have had to bring cats who were dying there so their suffering could be stopped. On all three of the above mentioned occasions we were treated with tremendous respect and compassion by all of the employees. The care was not cheap, but I am always shocked by the cost of vet services. I think since most of us have health insurance and only have to pay co-pays and deductibles, we arent really aware just how much medical care of every kind costs. I did not find the fees at Warwick Animal Hospital to be excessive compared with other vets. Today, a very special little cat that has been my companion for 17 years made it known it was time for her to go. She had breast cancer and I knew it was just a matter of time, but she went from doing fine yesterday, to awful this morning. I immediately called Warwick Animal Hospital and they told me to bring her right in,.Gilly passed on her own a few minutes later. I called to explain and asked if I should bring her in anyway to be sure. When we arrived they took her right back to the vet, although by now it was clear that she was gone. The vet confirmed this and they returned her to me. When I asked what I owed, they said nothing. To me, that shows a real caring for the animals they treat and does not reflect a place whose main concern is monetary. I expected there would be a charge. If Warwick Animal Hospital was closer, I would definitely switch my other animals to them. I will always be grateful that they treated my ill animals so kindly, and even showed great respect for Gilly who was beyond knowing, carrying her with tender care. It brought comfort to me knowing my animals were treated as if they were their own animals.

We love Dr. Hirschmann, who we think treats our cats as well as she would treat her own (and she appears to be an excellent cat mom). Weve been taking our animals there for several years and have seen several changeovers in doctors, but Dr. H has been there a long time, so it feels like we have gotten consistently good care from the same doctor. The staff has always been friendly to us and seems competent. The staff was particularly kind to us when one of our cats passed away from kidney failure. Since one of our older cats passed away, she has asked that we bring in our other older cat every 6 months for blood work, and so our oldest kitty is going on 17 now, and she is still here after her younger sister went because weve made the visits to the vet part of her "senior care." Our other two cats are youngsters, and they like Dr. H. (The senior cat is a terror with veterinarians, so we do those as sedated exams.) Its sad that other people have not had good experiences, and I feel for them and their lost pets. I just thought it worthwhile to share our very positive experiences.

It seems like veterinarians can get away with being as incompetent, negligent and uncaring as they want to be, and instead of them paying the price, its our beloved pets who do....WITH THEIR LIVES. My sister and I took our cat here for two years for regular exams and blood workups, believing that he was getting good care. Only to find out after his death (a month ago) that the crud it turns out he had for a vet had neglected to put him on a life-saving medication he needed-- and which is commonly prescribed for the health condition he suffered from. His last moments of life were horrible too--he died screaming from a massive seizure. WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. Im so sorry that we ever took him to Warwick Animal Hospital. Sorry too, that we were fools enough to believe that he was getting good care from Dr. White. She was completely unapologetic after he died because, you know, in their own heads, vets can do no wrong. But she did do wrong and now our sweet cat is dead because of it. Do your pets a favor and stay away from Warwick Animal Hospital.

Had to bring my dog in in an emergency called several places closer to me and no one could take him including his regular vet... We got there and they took us right in tears and anxiety attacks and all and was nothing but extremely caring towards me and my kids and dog the original estimate was to high for me so the vet scales back and got to be affordable to get him through the night without suffering and being in pain. Seriously thinking of making this place the new vet if he makes it even though they are pricier and a little bit of a drive but they will work with you and exhaust all possible help outside their facility. They are not a low income facility nor claim to be but they will help you as much as possible and talk you through every test procedure whatever and treat you like youre family. I received nothing but respect and compassion and THE TRUTH as hard as it was to hear.

A bad experience does not always need to be because of the cost as some people are suggesting here. I brought my dog to this vet several times before a friend called me in an emergency because their dog had just been brutally attacked and was on the verge of dying-- and it was on a Sunday. I told them Warwick Animal Hospital. I found out afterward that they had been turned away, that the receptionist wouldnt even open the door. Thanks to the team at Ocean State Animal Hospital and after several surgeries, she is going to survive. So, Warwick Animal Hospital lost a 4-figure bill for no good reason.... why would they turn away a dog bleeding to death? It seems that Warwick Animal Hospital received all 5-star ratings and 2 or less stars on Yelp, and there has to be a reason for that. Zero Stars If I Could

I have had nothing but great things to say about everyone that works here. We have had to put a dog down there that wasnt even a patient and they were so welcoming to us. After that experience I switched my new puppy with them. We have owned dogs for 29 years and never had to experience what we went through with our new labrador puppy. He needed emergency surgery for an intestinal issue which was life threatening. Everyone there was so nice and courteous to us. Thankful that everything turned out okay. I feel so comfortable that I can call and when I mention my dogs name they know who I am. They take the time to answer your questions and dont rush you. My labradore is now over a year and loves to go and see his friends.
