I expect the highest level of quality and professionalism when I pay people for services and am usually somewhat critical when people fall short, which sadly, they often do. Thats why the review Im about to write is unusual for me. This review is in reference to the AFC at Indian Lake in Hendersonville, TN location. When I arrive, typically the wait is only as long as it takes me to complete their forms. I like it that I always see an actual doctor instead of a PA or nurse as the primary medical professional over my case. So far the doctors have all been Internists, so they have education, training and experience in all areas of what ails the human body. AFCs doctors are humble, decent human beings who clearly care about the patients they serve. Their examinations are thorough, any findings are explained clearly, and every diagnosis has been spot on, as evidenced by the fact that whatever medication they have prescribed has worked as expected. Their billing is concise and accurate. Ive been there no fewer than five times and have never gotten a call from a collection agency for any fee related to this clinic. As an additional service, sitting to the right of the front window is a display of free prescription drug cards AFC offers its patients to help offset the cost of prescription drugs. Even if you have excellent insurance, take one of those cards. Give that prescription card to your pharmacist, and when you get a prescription, ask your pharmacist to run both your regular insurance card and the AFC prescription card to ensure you pay the lowest possible amount for your medication. You give the AFC prescription card to your pharmacist only once and he or she should keep it on file for you. Then, you have both cards on file and can compare prices when the pharmacist runs your prescription costs through both. For more than 10 years Ive had a medication that costs me $275 per month with my insurance, which is a good policy. When I gave my pharmacist my new AFC drug card, she ran that medication through and instead of $275 per month, it was $3 per month. Clearly, I am very happy with AFC at the Indian Lake, Hendersonville, TN location. As I said, I expect the highest level of quality and professionalism from people providing services to me and AFC exceeds my expectations. One important thing: as I have read some of these reviews, I want to remind you that this is a family walk-in clinic. There are limitations to what they can treat. Be realistic about what you expect them to do. Call ahead to ask if they can treat your illness. For example, I dont know the extent of their orthopedic capabilities, but if I had an orthopedic issue I wouldnt expect a walk-in clinic to be set up for that purpose. Im sure some people have had experiences that werent as positive as mine. No place is perfect. But at least AFC tries to get it right. Lastly, I want to be clear that I have no affiliation with AFC other than as a patient. I know no one affiliated with AFC and no one has ever asked me to leave a review for them. These are my honest observations and experience with AFC in Hendersonville, TN. I hope they prove helpful to you.

I went to this location hoping & praying I didnt have pneumonia (Im susceptible to respiratory infections). As I waited in the room for the dr to come in I simply had to lay down...I just was so tired from not being able to breathe right. The nurse checked on me before the dr came in & offered to bring me water which was like a gift from an angel at that time to me. Dr. Amaresh Misra came in & has one of the most amazing bedside manners Ive ever encountered. He asked thorough questions & was also excellent in his evaluation of my condition. It is obvious that he is very passionate & educated but most of all seems to care about doing the right thing for the patient. He made sure I wasnt allergic to anything he would be prescribing. Although I was nervous about using the inhaler, (have never used one outside of a hospital), I am so grateful that was one of the prescriptions. With the care that he & the staff present that day gave me I am already seeing improvement. You may have to wait if they get busy but in my opinion it is WELL WORTH IT! ***Also, they followed up with me the day after & the day after that just to see how I was doing; to see if I needed anything***My primary dr doesnt even do that!!! I am susceptible to respiratory infections & illnesses so bronchitis & pneumonia are scary for me. Thank you Dr Misra & staff for helping me & also for making me feel like you truly cared about my health...I am so grateful!!!

I went there initially to get refills for my prescriptions since I was new to town. They did bloodwork, and called to tell me the results. I had to physically go there to get a copy. My thyroid was high. I asked the receptionist, " isnt she going to change my dose for thyroid ?" She said no. The doctor was Reena Enaker. Four months later I was in the ER with heart palpitations due to the wrong medication. I also called to get refills on my medication. Someone called me back to say that they would call in the refills. The following week I called, and someone said that there was nothing on the record that said they would call in refills. Negligent, and very unprofessional. There were never any cars in the lot, and I guess that is why.

I went in to the Indian Lake clinic on Saturday because I had suffered a bad fall the day before. Emergency rooms are so costly and sometimes you dont feel that special care so I held out until the next morning and went to American Family Care. I had never been before but I had heard good things about it. The whole staff was very friendly and so caring. I had to have x-rays and they were so patient and explained everything each step of the way. Dr. Walker was so kind and even joked with me because he knew I was not feeling good. I really like this Urgent care facility and will recommend it to anyone that needs non life threatening medical care.

This morning I checked in at 9 to be seen I was promptly checked in and put in a room. At 10:40 the nurse checked in on me and said the dr. said I had been seen. I laughed, told her that I hadnt. Shortly after, the doctor came in. I describedy symptoms and the prior diagnosis of pneumonia without a chest x ray from a minute clinic. Without examining me, the doctor said it didnt sound bacterial and left the room again. I waited another 10 minutes and asked for a refund. I was refunded. I told the nursing staff that I wasnt sure which was worse, being misdiagnosed at another facility, or not being examined in 2 hours. I left in tears.

Never been for anything except minor emergency. If I am sick and over the counter doesnt help I go here. Havent had a problem yet. I walk in prepared with my insurance card along with a good bit of patience. Since its not a typical primary care or hospital I figure if they cant help me I need to be prepared to at least get advice of where to go to get fixed up. With the reviews I read I dont think I would show up with my sick kid or knowing I need even a small procedure like stitches as my patience would wear thin fast knowing I need help for a little one or something broken skin or otherwise.
