I have to start with this - I am not the type to ever write reviews, but I feel like I have to write this one to warn people. I brought my 2.3 pound, 9 week old, Pomeranian pup to VCA last week to have his first vet check. When I took him, I also brought his papers and shot records. The breeder had already given him two vaccinations containing medicine to combat Parvo and various other diseases. I gave the vet all of the information I had on my pup. With that being said, the vet checked him, he looked completely healthy, and they decided to give him two more vaccinations that day. One to combat Parvo and various other diseases, and one for kennel cough. I am not a vet, so obviously I trusted their judgement. Shortly after the vaccinations, my pup started vomiting. Chalking it up to the fact that they gave him too many treats to distract him from the vaccinations, I took him and left. One the way home, he threw up again. Upon arriving home, he threw up again. At this point I am starting to panic. My puppy threw up 2 more times. My puppy was then starting to go limp. Im bawling. I hopped in the car and headed back to VCA. I called them on the way to let them know that I was on my way - they said he is probably having an allergic reaction. I also called my mom to fill her in on what was going on, and she immediately started to do research. A simple internet search would tell you that puppies need to be vaccinated once at 8 weeks, once at 12 weeks, and once at 16 weeks. ......... shouldnt a vet know this? I think I would be vomiting and limp, too, if my 2.3 pound body had been injected with FOUR vaccines at 9 weeks old. The vet should have not even thought about giving him more vaccinations, especially since they knew his shot records!! The reason I chose to go to them was because they give you a free first vet check as a new customer. The vaccinations, however, cost, and I spent $80 on the vaccinations that HE DIDNT NEED. And when I took him back so they could then inject him with an anti vomiting medicine (thats right folks, my 2.3 pound ball of fluff is now up to 5 shots), I paid another $30. I paid $110 in total for something that could have been avoided all together. Believe me, I can completely understand an allergic reaction, they happen. But over vaccinating (over dosing) my puppy was pure negligence. All of this to say, do your research. I could have avoided this, but I trusted the doctor to know what they were doing. This was negligent on my part. ___________________ The vet was friendly as a person.

My cat was very sluggish. He stopped eating and I could tell he had a fever. VCA opened earlier than his regular vet, so I decided to take him. They ran tests. I was worried about him having Bobcat fever, but they assured me he was fine and sent us home with a a medication for inflammation and told me if he wasnt feeling better or seemed worse to call. This visit cost me about $360. The next day comes and he was way worse. I called and was placed on hold for 20 minutes. I called 3 more times with no luck. I finally called his regular vet told him the situation and he thankfully agreed to work him into his already booked day. He told me to have the blood work faxed to his office . I gave up calling and drove to VCA to ask them to fax the results, and got a copy for myself to have on hand just in case the information wasnt faxed. By this time, I have wasted an entire 24 hours on dealing with VCA and still waiting on a diagnosis. His appt at his regular vet, FINALLY,gave me answers. He actually does have Bobcat fever which is caused by a tick. I was sent home with an antibiotic and he was also given meds while at his office and more bloodwork was done. This visit cost me $185. Ive been doing research on bobcat fever and Ive found out The sooner you catch it and start treating it, the greater the chance of survival. I can only wonder if they had caught it, if those 24 hours would make a difference. I also wonder what it was that made the visit $360 when his regular vet did the same tests and diagnosed him, gave him meds in office and sent them home for $185. I left VCA with a medicine, one which was not helping his situation at all. Its scary when our pets get sick, we want to trust they are in good hands, but I will never again take my babies to this place. I will wait for their regular vet to open, the one who cares enough to be thorough,I only wasted time and money with VCA it got me nowhere .

I called a day in advance and asked if I brought in my dog for evaluation could I leave him and pick him back up after I get off of work. I explained that it was about a 20 mile trip back to the house. I was told that it would be Ok. Keep in mind that I had just paid them over $700.00 the week before for treatment to this same dog. The following morning I came in and said I have my dog to leave. The receptionist (a rude black haired woman) shot back with "NO SIR, WE NO LONGER DO THAT" I mean she was downright hateful. I said that I had called and arranged this yesterday. She told me in a very quipped voice that the policy had changed. I said "since yesterday?" She said that it changed that night. I cant begin to explain how hateful this woman was. It was like I had personally offended her and she was mad as hell. The other staff that was there seemed embarassed about how she was treating me. They wouldnt make eye contact and seemed to just stare at the floor. Needless to say I was deeply offended by this womans treatment of me. I left and WILL NEVER GO BACK. I went right up the road to another vets office (I wont mention the name here), you know, the one behind Ricess Country Ham store there at the corner of Lebanon Rd & Nonaville Rd in Mt. Juliet. The staff there took my dog in, kept him for the day and charged no extra. They now get all of my business for all of my eight dogs. They even came in and performed emergency surgery for Noodles on Easter Sunday. The VCA place, I wouldnt waste my time unless you like being treated badly.

This vets office is awesome in my book. I have a pitt bull and he was a rescue, he was abused, left on the side of the road, and starved when we got him. He now has a hatred for people and for that i cant blame him. Well we had a dog biting incident and i had to quarantine him for 10 days due to his shots being out of date by a month, we started off with a cheap vets office(i wont throw them under the bus) across town but since my dog hates people except for me and my husband they made me come up to walk him and take him out to the bathroom, and when i explained that we will be going out of town and the state is making us board him we will not be able to come and do this. They were going to leave my dog in a cage in his own waste until we came and got him...in what world is that ok? So i got permission to take him elsewhere that could handle his aversion to people, enter VCA. I called them with my issue and they instantly told me to bring him up. We got there and we warned them that he DOES. NOT. Like. PEOPLE. and they calmed our fears, they gave us updates on him the whole time. When we came to get him 10 days later the vet tech (and her name escapes me) walked him out to us WALKED HIM OUT TO US!!?? I was shocked that he let her do that, she said she was the only one who could do it lol. I am blessed that i found this place, now my husband and I can actually take vacations and not have to worry about what to do with our dog!
