I went to NW Hill Eyecare for a little over 3 years. The service and staff for the first couple were excellent. This last year, unfortunately, has been a terrible experience in my opinion. I agree with all the other posts about the staff being difficult to deal with. I had to regularly call 2-3 times and leave multiple voicemails to finally get a return call back. When you do FINALLY get the staff on the phone, they normally act like you are inconveniencing them by calling. I ordered contacts this past January and found out that one box did not come in with the shipment after driving over to the office - a call to forewarn me would have been nice. When the missing box finally did come in, they expected me to drive back in and get it - for a 2nd time - even though this was not my fault. I asked the receptionist to kindly mail them to me, but she refused. At which point, I escalated the situation to Dr. Miller. It was only after this escalation to Dr. Miller that they agreed to ship my contacts. I should have just left after that point as the entire process was a headache and the staff made zero effort to accommodate or fix their mistake without an escalation to their boss. The most recent episode is absolutely why I will be moving on. I ordered a pair of glasses, but after 3-4 visits, updates, check-ups, etc. - the team STILL could not get my glasses prescription right. Finally, I told them I would like a refund as I did not have time to keep coming in to fix their problem. Its unacceptable for an eye care company to not be able to get a glasses prescription right. The icing on the cake -- I had to call, email, and even send a tweet to FINALLY get a short, and unfriendly answer back from Dr. Miller that my glasses refund check was in the mail. Not even an apology for wasting so much of my time. This place is going downhill fast. Dr. Miller seems to be pretty unaware of how her staff treats customers. I would have been a customer of hers for many, many years to come had her staff - and frankly had she - done the right thing. Do yourself a favor and find another eye doctor around town. I am on the hunt for a new eye doctor as we speak! Good luck!

It was hard to give this place 4 stars instead of five, but I will explain why. First of all, I have to say I absolutely love my doctor, Dr.Miller. She is wonderful and I have been with her for several years now. Though I see some comments on the staff being less than friendly, I have never experienced that, and I have spoken to just about everyone at one time or another. I have ordered both glasses and contacts from then as well and never had a problem they wouldnt help me with. I just recently brought my husband and daughter to NWHE with Dr. Stola and found her wonderful as well. Unless I leave austin, I really couldnt imagine leaving. OK, so now heres the missing star. Until recently I have been able to communicate easily via phone, for appointments or questions, but now not so much. I had to cancel an appointment and I called several times, left a few message, but never got a response. It happened when I tried to reschedule as well. I really hope thus gets resolved, I would love to change my 4 stars to 5.

During our visits, it is always evident the fact that Dr Miller is a highly competent Specialist in her field with an authoritative knowledge. Also, Dr Millers always has been very understanding and sympathetic about the overall needs of elderly patients. We really appreciate Dr. Millers willingness to suggest and try new solutions and possibilities in a such difficult case of advanced macular degeneration when the patient was not entirely satisfied with previous aids and solutions, while keeping realistic expectations. For the Top Quality of Services, State of the Art Diagnostic Tools such as the OCT, wide spectrum of the latest optical devices and solutions for low vision patients, Dr Millers extensive and significant experience with hard cases such as macular degeneration, the Prices were very Reasonable. Dr Millers Staff have been always very Professional, attentive and friendly during our whole appointments.

If youre looking for a trusted adviser when it comes to your vision, Dr. Miller is a solid choice. Based solely on a recommendation from a friend who is in a related vision services field, I began seeing Dr. Miller several years ago. With much of life, you get out of it what you put into it, and during my first visit with Dr. Miller, we spent a relatively decent amount of time discussing various aspects of vision, and that conversation has laid the groundwork for a very pleasant and ongoing relationship ever since. While their optometry department carries the latest and greatest, pricing is a bit steep (granted, its essentially all high end "labels"). To that end, its hard to argue with the Warby Parker model, but the convenience Northwest Hills Eye Care offers, and the service that Joe provides, is equally hard to argue with. Dont forget to grab a piece of candy on the way out :)

Walking into Northwest Eye Care is like walking into a big welcoming family. Yep, during my first visit I became one of the family. I’ve had the pleasure to work with both Dr. Miller and Dr. Stola who are outstanding doctors dedicated to helping people achieve their best vision possible. There are not enough words to describe the staff who obviously love their jobs and patients. How refreshing! Whether fitting for contact lenses or glasses, they were incredibly patient with a difficult-to-fit patient like me and persevered until it was perfect. In my 40+ years of wearing contacts and glasses, never before have I experienced the quality of customer care and complete attention to details to my vision health. My family is now 3 generations (including low vision services) of patients who place their confidence in Northwest Eye Care.

What a clean, friendly, professional medical office! Stylish glasses, too.... NW Hills Eye Care is almost "old fashioned" in the sense that the staff recognizes our family by name as we walk in and offers all of us nothing but the best customer service. An example is that of my two teenagers being treated respectfully and with patience: as they both started contacts recently, Sammie spent over 2 combined hours training in proper contact lens wear. Dr. Stola is thorough and completely up-to-date with the concerns our family has regarding eye health. The entire staff is fantastic. In fact, they do a great job explaining insurance benefits (EyeMed) and provide very helpful coupons $$. Expect more than youll find anywhere nearby...this is a LOCAL business that provides Austinites with only the highest quality eyecare.

My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Miller and Joe since at least 2000. Weve followed to her from location to location to her current office on Spicewood Springs. Dr. Miller is an outstanding and excellent low-vision specialist and the only one we truly trust with our eye care. To show our dedication, we have seen Dr. Miller twice since moving away from Texas (a mistake on our part) with the last visit being a car trip to see her. Dr. Millers car is so good, and Joe is great at finding and fitting glasses that we do not hesitate to travel from East Tennessee to Austin to see them.
