I have been using Crosby Vet since way back when A.D. Duhon was still partners with Harold Wagers. I remember having Jimmy Hoffman come out to tend to my horses when he was just out of vet school! Darren Knapp has been seeing my animals since he started there. My history with Crosby Vet Clinic spans over 26 years. These are COUNTRY VETS! They always keep your pocket book in mind. They are VERY USED to dealing with folks like me who do 90% of my own veterinary work. They are VERY VERY affordable and always have your pocket book in mind. The negative reviews I see on here have two things in common: 1) The people here want the vet to treat their pet like a human. My animals are my babies - AND there is a time when I consider what is BEST for the animal - is the best thing for a lame horse that is severely in pain to keep it alive at all costs? I know better. So do these guys. 2) All but one negative review blames the vets for something that may not have been present when the animal was taken in to the clinic. If the animal is sick, and then two or three days later, becomes very sick with something else - there is a strong possibility that the greater illness was not present at the time the pet was taken in, but developed rapidly due to the immune-suppressed condition of the animal. It aint magical, folks! No, they do not take appointments. Yes, they are grossly overcrowded...because they are GOOD. Yes, you sometimes wait two hours or longer to get seen. Yes, the phone may be busy for long periods of time. Yes, sometimes, the phone gets hung up when you are on hold. No, they dont use the internet for stuff. No, they wont break your bank. And no, they will not try to play on your emotions and try to get you to pay for expensive surgeries and keep your animal alive at literally all costs! Take a stroll to Montrose vet clinic, if you want all that. Be sure and take out a bank loan before you do. And be sure to be prepared for the long term suffering of your animal; they will encourage you to do treatment when it will not help, and charge you an arm and a leg for it.

I have been using this vet for 10 years. The staff and doctors (Hofmann) use to be very pleasant and helpful. Although, over the past couple of years they have changed for the worst and I have noticed extremely unprofessional practices. I have worked as a vet assistant and I work now in the health field. I do know how certain procedures should be done and have knowledge about medications. I took my Saint Bernard mix into the vet for an ear infection. I would of treated him at home with antibiotic ointment but he had became scared of anyone to touch his ears because of the pain. I asked for a muzzle to be used during examination & to my surprise they did not have one in the office! Instead they tied a cloth around his muzzle, which only made him uncomfortable. My dog is a mild mannered dog but still would not allow an examination. Dr. Hofmann suggested keflex and prednisone. About 5 days into the medication he had a severe allergic reaction. Excessive thirst, hunger, shedding, diarrhea and shaking were just a few of his symptoms. He also was hyper & then became lethargic with heavy panting. I was extremely scared for my best friends life. I researched the specific side effects and allergic reactions of both medications and many of the symptoms matched. I immediately stopped the medication. When I revisited the vet HE LAUGHED IN MY FACE !!!!! He said it wasnt possible for that to happen on that medication because he had never experienced it before!! The ignorance of this vet and the attitude they portray is disgusting. OH & during one visit I witnessed a vet tech finishing up cats being spayed in the same exam room I was in and the surgical tools were just thrown in the sink, washed, and put to the side on a towel. Nothing was sterile!!! I just hope this never happens to anybody elses beloved pet. CHOOSE YOUR VET WISELY & RESEARCH ALL MEDICATIONS PRESCRIBED TO THEM.

I NEVER write a review good or bad until now. I adopted this dog from the pound because I did not want to see it euthanized. It had the worse case of mange I personally had ever seen. I took him to the Crosby Vet Clinic. I waited about 45 minutes to be called into an exam room, then another 30 minutes waiting on ANYONE to come into the exam room to see my dog. While waiting 3 or 4 people popped in and commented on how bad my dog looked. NOT one person ever identified themself, not even who both my husband assumed was the vet. They scraped some skin checking which type of mange he may have, looked in his mouth, orally gave him something for worms, gave us a bunch of expensive medication, including pills (even though we had already told them he had stopped eating or drinking). Instructed to feed him as much as he wanted, and that is was fine to let him play with our other dogs and sent us on our way. All this happened on a Friday around 4 pm. Sunday morning at 2 am, I checked on my dog and found him to be having labored breathing, we rusched him to the emergency animal clinic where they ran test and found him to be positive for Parvo. The Crosby clinic NEVER tested him for anything other than to find out which type of mange he had. Parvo is a ten minute test! I would much rather have my puppy, but I know that is never going to happen. Meanwhile I have $151 worth of medication that will never be used. So all you folks that feel as though this clinic is the best thing to hit the state of Texas, good for you, as for me and my family we are not the least bit impressed with their assembly line care! I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER take another animal to this clinic!

I have used Crosby Vet for 12+ years up until I moved from Texas. These guys are reasonable and straight to the point-which is how I like it. I firmly believe in quality of life not quantity in animals as well as humans. We had a dog that had gotten shot and had a spinal injury. I took him in and they told me that he probably would not make it. He had no use in his back legs and could not stand. I had raised this dog from a bottle fed puppy and it was very difficult-I asked to take him home and try to get him better. They gave me medication to help him stay comfortable, and explained to me how to help him go to the bathroom and keep him comfortable. Fifteen days later he was able to walk again...not as well as before, but on his feet and going forward. He steadily improved and eventually only had a slightly noticeable limp. I am glad I did not give up on him! Later when I did have to put him down for other reasons, they came outside and took care of everything in my truck so I could take him back home. It was one of the saddest days I have ever had, and they were compassionate enough to not make me have to bring him in and have to face others while I was suffering this great loss. I will be forever grateful. They have taken care of my cats, other dogs and horses and I have recommended them to several others and will continue to do so.
