I asked my mom to take my two dogs to the vet today, 2/23/16, as I have not been able to take them myself as I have been working later than our normal vet is open, so she took them where she takes her dog, which is Beltway Animal Hospital (BAH). She called me to let me know that Dr. Burns refused to see my dogs because of a check that I owed from 2008, my attitude from a prior visit, and something about the internet. Since my mom tends to lose information with the translation, I called the office myself as news about a check being owed was news to me. I was informed that indeed, Dr. Burns would not see our dogs and we were no longer welcome. They stated that the check being owed had been resolved, so that was not the problem. The problem was because of an incident that happened in 2010 (apparently I myself had an attitude regarding it since I did not physically go to the business) and then posted a bad review regarding the incident. The incident that happened in 2010 was as follows: my husband came home from work around 4:30 pm and found our dog in very poor health. We panicked thinking we were losing our beloved dog, so he rushed him to BAH and I left work in a hurry to go get cash from the bank (since they only accept cash or checks). They finally get taken to the back room to see Dr. Burns after waiting about an hour, and I called my husband to see what did the Dr. say and how much money do I need to withdrawal from the bank since they were about to close (it was about 5:50 pm). When Dr. Burns heard him talking to me on the phone about money, she quickly stopped rendering services and told him that since he did not have the money with him, he had to leave and she would no longer continue the consultation. So of course my husband and I were upset. I even called the office and explained that I was already at the bank withdrawing cash and would be there in 5-10 min and they still refused to see him. So, we drove down to North Channel Animal Hospital on Wallisville. They had already closed, but thankfully there was a worker walking to her car and we asked for help. She helped us with our dog right then and there in the parking lot! (No consultation needed!!) Hence the reason as to why we never returned and I wrote the bad review. You must ask why go back today then? I honestly thought BAH had changed their ways and was willing to give a small business owner a second chance. To be honest, this could have easily been an opportunity to redeem themselves. Granted, many continue to take their beloved pets to BAH because of the low cost, but like I said in my 2010 review, my hard earned money seems more appreciated elsewhere. I have been shown that I may spend more elsewhere, but at least I know I will receive excellent customer service and my beloved dogs are better taken care of. So if you plan on writing a negative review, be prepared to no longer be welcome at their business! So you have been forewarned! Too bad the sytem would not allow me to not allocate any stars.

She is not afraid of most animals or bad with them like people claim. Maybe, as an elderly woman, she is afraid of a very large aggressive dog that could overpower her. That is understandable. However, she was great with a feral kitten I brought her. Me and my girlfriend found him starving to death in my back yard. I am not exaggerating when I tell you he was emaciated and dying. He also had a broken leg and was partially blind. HOWEVER, that does not mean he was not willing to fight to the death, and let me tell you, a 2 month old feral cat can mince your finger to where it would require amputation if it felt really threatened. Despite this, Dr. Burns handled the feral kitten with her bare hands and gave him a dewormer, ran a test for Coccidia. prescribed anti Coccidia medication (I cant remember the name), an IV drip, took his temperature, and put a cast on his broken leg. All of these procedures were cheap. She then sold us prescription cat food, which I kind of regret buying due to the cost. Due to being ignorant, I bought the cat food, and it did work; the kitten gained mass VERY fast and he was able to see within a day. His leg also healed and he is a very healthy and large cat now. She expertly treated this feral kitten in as little as 15 minutes; there were no problems at all and the overall cost was around $135 cash, with the majority of that cost being the prescription cat food. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, try to find very high calorie and high nutrient wet cat food somewhere else for a lower price. Overall, I highly recommend her. She is fast, efficient, knows her stuff, and doesnt mind answering veterinary health questions. Just remember, she does not accept debit or credit cards - only cash. That is my only complaint. Also, I wouldnt exactly describe her as friendly, but she wasnt mean or rude; however, if you dont bring cash and bring a a bad attitude or dangerous animal (or animal she perceives could be dangerous or unruly), that might encourage her to be.

Literally the worst vet I have ever seen and I have had pets for 25 years with regular visits to different vets. First of all...it seems to me that the Dr. Barnes or Burns makes up prices off the top of her head...and I specifically heard her tell the tech to find out how much Im "willing" to spend. Literally. Not "how much can I afford to pay or to treat immediate need of the dog" but willing to spend. Upon arriving the receptionist suggested my fiancé pull out $300 cash from ATM as they do not accept cards. We were already there so we needed our baby seen. Did NOT expect to need that for a first visit to walk out with itch meds and antibiotics. And a worm pill.. She is quite abrasive and you honestly cannot tell if she is serious....she told me to hold my dog because she wasnt going to..as I needed to turn away to grab my wallet. She got irritated because I couldnt say how long exactly my dog had been in my care as I took her from a home she was not wanted. She made assumptions as to what ailed my dog...and then proceeded to throw in how every single test needed was "extra" and "expensive". The only thing treated for well over $200 was itch and a tapeworm. I administered the tapeworm med. smh. This lady is ripping people off and the posts about her having animals best interest have to be fabricated. I can tell you she does not need to be practicing anymore. I dont care how long she has been there...its obviously people who get ripped off once a like myself and maybe some other strange people like her who keep her in business. She was quite rough with my 10 yr old dog with arthritis. Rude to me and I was spending a fortune. She questioned my dogs breed when clearly she is a LLaso with papers and all characteristics of such. This place is a joke. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE FOR YOUR ANIMALS SAKE!!! AND YOUR WALLET!!!!
