Please read: Hillside is the worst veterinary clinic in Dallas, hands down. I was referred to this clinic by a friend because I had dealt with a terrible experience with CityVet on Oaklawn and thought Hillside would be worth a shot. They recently failed to email or even mail me a notice that my dog was up for her bordetella vaccination and when I was notified by the dog park that a puppy who was in direct contact with my dog had kennel cough, I immediately called Hillside to check if my dog was up to date with her vaccinations, thats when the rep told me she was due for her bordetella shot for over a month now, that they didnt have my email address on file and had a bad address for me. Naturally I freaked out because my dog was showing ill like symptoms that are similar to kennel cough and when I spoke with Dr. Dupre about Hillsides failure to notify me about my dogs vaccination, even though I gave them my email address and current address when we first went in and I was also told by the rep that day that I would receive email notifications for vaccinations, they failed to do what they said... thats when Dr. Dupre asked me to come in that night to have one of the vets check out my dog. I left my office early to get to Hillside when Dr Dupre scheduled our appointment, the vet we saw checked out my dog, reluctantly advised me that they cant vaccinate her because they want to wait a couple days to make sure her symptoms do not get worse but could tell me she seems perfectly fine and does not have a respiratory infection aka kennel cough. What does that even mean?! After all of this, I was presented with a bill by their rep "Sam" who brought the bill into the back room where my dog was being checked. I asked her why I was being charged when I came in because their vet ordered me to, and Sams response was "Well the doctor didnt force you to come in" and continued to be disrespectful and walked away during our conversation. I did not pay for the bill and asked Sam to give me her supervisors name and that when she continued to be disrespectful and said that the supervisor will contact me, I asked for Sams last name and she responded with "I am the only Sam here" - I received an email from Renee their operations manager and I responded to Renes email and explained the situation by for her to only respond to my email with that I should seek another veterinarian. This is how Hillside deals with their complaints and concerns by their customers. You cant run a reputable and trust worthy veterinary clinic if you dont care about the animals and their owners. This mistake shouldnt be justified by saying, "things like this happens" its about how you go about solving the issue. Having reps like Sam and an operational director like Renee is the reason why I would never go back to Hillside or ever recommend them to anyone. Please take this review as my honest testimony to my experience with Hillside and not in retaliation of it.

I adopted a little Yorkie mix fur baby last year and one of my colleagues suggested going to this vet. I must admit, I was very wary as I had a very bad experience with another vet in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas a few weeks before and ended up bringing my pup up with me to Chicago to be checked by a vet we had known for a long time up there. So...to say that I had a bit of trepidation when I took Polly to the initial vet visit is an understatement. That being said....They were absolutely excellent and I always go here & recommend this clinic to everyone that I run into when we chat about our little fur babies (& the area I live in is very heavily populated with pups!). Why I love this place: Polly is my first small pup and I had a lot of questions/concerns - and they patiently answered all of them :-D. 1. The receptionists at the front desk have been able to answer my questions and are ALWAYS helpful, personable, friendly and they honestly just love all the pups who come in the door (I have seen their behavior quite a few times over the past year & I have never seen anything less than absolutely wonderful service). Plus, I have had some questions that they are able to answer on the telephone and they are very knowledgable. Plus, if they dont know an answer or if something doesnt seem right, they will consult with the vet on-call at the time to assist with the question!!! And no question has been too silly to merit a response...seriously! Love these people! 2. We have seen several of the vets (when I first adopted Polly she had quite a few health issues, bad kennel cough, & she also had a worried mom :-D), and every one of the vets has been nothing less than professional, understanding and personable. Plus Polly gets very nervous at the vets (starts shaking like a leaf!) and all of the vets work with her and understand her. These vets included: Dr. Ferrell, Dr. Foreman (multiple visits), Dr. Williams, Dr. Rippy, and Dr. Chritton (there may be a few others, but I cant remember their names right now). Treatment recommendations are conservative & they dont recommend unnecessary treatments/care/etc - which I love. 3. Last year, I had to run to the vet in the very very early morning hours b/c Polly had run out of her cough medicine and started having coughing spells that lasted for quite a long time & I had to go to work later that morning. She was seen within 15-25 minutes of our arrival (& they were also waiting for a pretty sick pooch to come in at the same time - and obviously the sickest pup should be seen first...so the waiting time was ridiculously quick given the circumstances). 4. The vets are wonderful about returning phone calls, following up on how the pup is doing after treatments and letting me know when I definitely need to come in versus when it is okay to monitor Polly - i.e. Signs and symptoms that require an appointment versus those that can be monitored at home.

I recently took my very sick cat to your emergency clinic who was in respiratory distress. I was encouraged by your staff to bring her there asap. I drove my cat there in the pouring rain. When I arrived I didnt even have a chance to sign in and someone asked me what was wrong where at that point I explained that I had called about my cat and they reluctantly took her back and put her on temporary oxygen. At that point I explained to her that I would not get paid direct deposit until the following day and she said unfortunately they needed a $300 deposit to continue care for my cat. I pleaded with her standing the in tears crying to please help my cat and would pay any charges for her in less than 24 hrs. She went to the back to discuss it with someone and then came back and told me that w/o money then I would have to take my cat somewhere else. I proceeded to my car to get my phone and when coming back inside the tech was standing outside with my dying cat where I was asked to leave standing in the rain. I was told to go to Denton Emergency hospital an hour away in torrential rain but had to wait until the next morning because financially I could not drive that far without gas. The next day when we got paid as we said we would I drove my now very sick and dying cat where they immediately took her and put her on oxygen. No money was discussed, only the well being of my pet. They were very caring and supportive of my pain for my now dying cat and even consoled me one on one in a seperate room. I stayed there for 3 or 4 hours while they cared for my cat and then they told me to go home and Dr. Polly would call throughout the night with updates. She called continually throughout the night to update me on Hersheys conditions. At around 3 am the Dr. called and said they had found fluid around her heart and chest wall and wanted to drain the fluid off because she had a collasped lung. She said her lung had probably collapsed before I even brought her there. Within 30 mins I received a call from the vet while her staff was performing CPR and she told me my cats heart could not take it and she passed away. The vet told me that if I had gotten her there 24 hrs earlier her chances of survival would have greatly improved. I am appalled at Hillside Veterinary Clinic for even practicing the care of sick and critical animals. Their only care is about money first or " Im sorry but your pet is going to die". I loved my cat Hershey very much. She was rescued 2 yrs ago and had a great life. I made the huge mistake of calling Hillside Veterinary Clinic and blame them for the death of my cat Hershey. If you dont have any money first do not take your pet to this vet or they may die first. I was also told by a friend that the owner Dr. Bostons only advice is to get pet insurance. Im sorry but I live in the real world and most people cannot even afford to get insurance for their own life.
