I. explained my dogs problem and my financial situation and iwas promised a payment plan when i called but after i drove 1 1/2 hours to get there they showed what they love most when they told me they wanted nearly $1400 dollars to save my dogs eye. They decided then they would not set up a payment plan. They told me to go else where wgich cost my dog her right eye. They said tgey gave her a shot for pain and they gave me enough meds for one night then handed me the bill for $166.22. The people where nice enough and i appreciate them giving something for pain however i sont appreciate being lied to about letting me make payments just to get me there to make an office charge UPDATE: i have made several sttempts to discuss there unethical approach on how they promise to help just to get you through the door and charge a ridiculous fee then turn you away. I explained to them prior to going to there location that a local vet had already examined my dog but they could not arrange a payment plan. They treated her with pain meds and a c cone as well as some meds to fight infection. I informed denton vet all these facts. They said she needs medical care now to save her eye. They promised a payment plan would be arranged and told me not to worry about anything. So i drove to there office which at they took her from me as soon as i arrived they then keep me waiting about 1 hour then came out saying they want nearly $1400 cash. I explained earlier i didnt have cadh and reminded them of the agreememt they made me over the phone. They said they told me to take her elsewhere. It was nearly 10 pm so i had no choice but to find a caring vet the next morming. I tooj her to a really good vet who cares about animals and agreed to let me make payments. They said the eye had to be removed due to the fact to much time has passed since the injury. And they said if the denton vet had done the surgery. The eye most likely could have been saved. Know the denton vet refuses to adjust there bill for $166.22 for doing NOTHING and keep threatening to turn it over to laywers and collections if i dont pay. I AGREED TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY DID IF THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT THEY DID OTHER THEN LIE TO ME TO GET ME IN THE DOOR. THEY REFUSE TO BUDGE $1 DOLLAR EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOTHING.

The Denton Animal Emergency ER is the best. They saved out beloved Yorkie. Back in June 2016, someone opened our back gate and let Jake out. I found him but before I could catch him, he ran under the wheels of a passing vehicle, who was insistent on passing my parked truck. I grabbed Jake, put him in the truck and headed straight for the ER. Dr. Hightower was on duty that night. I told him he had to save Jake because there was no way I was going to lose another dog if I could help it. He came back and said that Jake could be saved. He needed several hernia surgeries. They gave me the estimate. I immediately grabbed the credit card and handed it over. Dr. Hightower called the next morning to report that he had never seen such a little dog fight so hard to live. They lost him on the operating table but were able to bring him back. He stayed with them about 4 days, they were trying to get him to eat, before I could take him home. I visited every afternoon but he was so doped up that he just stared ahead with a blank stare, like an alien. When I picked him up to take him home, he was pretty much back to his old self which meant he didnt like being confined to a kennel but it was necessary. They capped my bill and anything from that point on was covered under the amount I had already paid. This was a good thing because he needed a 2nd surgery on a small groin hernia. I was worried because he had died on the operating table the first time but Dr. Cox assured me that he was stronger now and was not in shock because of an accident so everything would be okay. He came through with flying colors. Unfortunately, I went in for hernia surgery the day before Jake did and had complications so was I in the hospital for 3 weeks. The clinic let him stay with them for a few extra days until my dad could pick him up. They treated him so well. There arent too many people who dont fall in love with Jake, my dad included. Hes the sweetest thing but hes also head-strong. Thanks to the Denton Animal Emergency DR, the Doctors and the staff, we have our Jake. Hes back to his sweet, smart, brat Yorkie self.

After taking our cat Clover to our vet, we learned she was dying from liver failure. The outlook was very grim, and we were faced with the decision the next evening to end her suffering when our initial course of treatment failed. Thank goodness we ended up on several referrals at DCAER because our lives would be very different right now otherwise. Like a lot of folks that wind up with their pals in the animal ER, we were panicked, picky, and with wallets unprepared for such an event. The staff was direct, didnt sugarcoat Clovers prognosis, and offered several options. Dr. Cox kindly and professionally explained every detail, which was probably not very easy given the grief my family was experiencing. In addition, the staff created a few solutions for our financial concerns about being able to afford the care Clover would require. Over the course of our cats hospitalization, the ER took our many calls and encouraged our visiting Clover. When she was well enough to be removed from her IV, the staff brought her into a private room daily so we could spend time with Clover and keep her spirits up. This is something you might expect from an ER, but from personal past experiences, I can assure you its not the norm at most places. Last night, we brought Clover home. She has a pink nose again. Goodbye, Jaundice! She is going to survive an illness that everything on the internet suggested would kill her. It would be impossible for me to say enough nice things about Dr. Cox. If I could throw her a parade, I would. She and the staff at DCAER saved our four-year-old cats life. My family, including the rest of our little animal pack, are forever grateful. Id like to also add that during the many hours we spent at the ER, I was fortunate to see lots of other instances of kindness and compassion. I met other patients families who would echo everything Ive written here, most certainly. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU. P.S. Alissa rules, too. Shes a super outstanding tech and an all-around really cool chick.

"Compassionate Care. Always" appears to be proudly emblazoned on the landing page for their website, but was nowhere to be found on my recent visit. I wont divulge specifics, but I am not the pet owner, but was rather there for emotional support. A very beloved cat had to be put to sleep after a previously managed illness took a turn for the worse. The staff from the techs, to the vet, to the desk admins were inefficient, tactless, and lacking compassion from start to finish. The entire visit took several hours since every time the staff said theyd do something in "a few minutes" 30 minutes would pass. One tech particularly asked ignorant questions - showing no knowledge of the pet patient - and offered absolutely no information or assistance when we answered them. They only showed they had no idea what was going on, and in a case where an animal was so ill, this behavior is obviously upsetting. The vet seemed disturbingly excited too see an animal patient with an apparently rare form of the disease, and made no attempt to hide this. The vet also continually misgendered the pet, and asked questions that also showed a lack of knowledge of the pets chart or records from prior visits. And even after the emotionally difficult procedure had been completed, for the best of the animal suffering, the staff showed no compassion. Another tech came in and simply said, "Yep, definitely looks like ___ is gone" about the pet passing. When asked 3 times for the pet to be taken out of the room before we went, the same tech finally (and bizarrely) went out one door, then came back in from the back and took the pet away. The tech apologized almost as though they were a new person that " we didnt understand" the situation. I feel very fortunate I live about an hour from this location personally, so my own pet would never have to experience any treatment at the hand of these heartless people with no beside manner whatsoever.
