I used Dr. Layh for over 5 years and from having 6 different pets, I get the feeling he only likes dogs. Every time I would bring one of my 2 dogs in, he was so happy and helpful. When it was a cat, I would continuously get a misdiagnosis and very little attention to my sick animal. One of my cats had extensive testing and blood work and ended up staying over night only for him to not have an answer to why he coughed all the time. I took my cat to another vet to find out the cat has asthma and began a steroid treatment and a diet and the cat was better in a week. The second cat I had an issue with scratched all the hair off her neck and would not eat. When she did eat, she became ill. This was a cat he had seen for years at this point. He did an exam and did not find anything. He gave her a steroid shot and sent us home. A few days later, she was not improving, so we took her back again. He still could not find anything wrong with her. At this point she had scratched her neck open to an exposed would around the size of a quater. He stitched her up and sent us home. She then opened the wound a few days later and was still not eating. We went back for a third time only for him to stitch her back up. We later took her to another vet and found out she had a huge tumor covering her entire stomach that could be felt by the new vet by just a physical exam with later xrays as proof. She was not able to be helped at this point and we had to put her down. The third cat I had an issue with was elderly. She became extremely jaundice. When we took her up there, he did some blood work and said there was not saving her and we should just put her down. We requested to take her home for the night since we had been on vacation the week prior to her becoming ill and wanted a little more time to say goodbye. The front office told us just to come in when we were ready the next day. When we finally arrived, they told us he was in surgery and would be a little while. They placed us in a room and within 10 minutes, Dr. Layh came in wearing latex gloves covered in blood and told us he did not have time for us so to just leave the cat and he would take care of her when he was finished. I was applaud at his crass nature to this situation. He takes cats as disposable creatures with no care or compassion, do not take your cat here!

The doctors and vet techs at this facility are amazing as well as compassionate. They truly love animals! Dr. Wuenche had been seeing our dog Patchez since she was a pup. When Patchez first came home she had mange and Dr. Wuenche helped with affordable options to treat her. He saved her life and didnt have to give the affordable options he did. When Patchez was about 7 years old she got "garbage gut". She was very sick and when we contacted Dr. Wuenche on his emergency line he stopped what he was doing at a family members birthday and came to help on the weekend. He saved her life that time too! Also helped with the cost as well! When Patchez reached 13 years of age she was diagnosed with diabetes and Cushings disease. The vets, Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Quast saw Patchez and Dr. Lindsey treated her weekly for months. They were wonderful and explained everything to us so we could understand. When Patchez became ill due to old age (Cushings making her diabetes impossible to control any longer) and could no longer see, walk and did not want to eat Dr. Wuenche was again there for us to help us make the right decision for Patchez to be sent to the afterlife. He treated Patchez with dignity and us with compassion knowing it was hard for us to make the most terrible choice but most loving choice for an animal. Dr. Wuenche has also saved my cat, Patriot. He is still here to this day! Hes 16 years old. Dr. Wuenche came on a weekend to meet me and saved him when he had a plugged bladder. I have two other Dogs and Denton Vet Center will be the only practice I take them too. Dr. Wuenche has also saved my Basset Hound, Daisy too. Shes still here as well. He responded immediately when I texted him after hours when she had a sebacious rupture under the skin and create a skin infection. These people truly do care!

I took my 3-4 week old orphaned kitten for a general check up at the Animal Hospital on Teasley Ln. and at first I was happy, until he almost killed my kitten with dewormers, tube feeding, not keeping up with his temperature, and not to mention the back of the place looks horrible. After 3 visits to the Denton Animal ER (which they were AMAZING) I took my little Mishka to Dr. Weunsche. I couldnt have put my baby in better hands. They even had a nursing momma cat that Mishka could nurse off of (since he had been bottle fed). I could tell from the beginning that they had some of the biggest hearts because they said that they never take in strays, but they took in this momma cat and her two kittens. Dr. Weunsche let Mishka stay there FREE OF CHARGE because the health of my little kitten was important to him. After two weeks, they weaned him and helped him learn to use the litter box. My bill was considerably less than you would think after two weeks of staying there. Needless to say, I wish I had come here in the first place because Dr. Weunsche and his ENTIRE staff were absolutely PHENOMENAL. I will be bringing my 7-year old cat here as well as my family in Burlesons animals.

I took my pitbull puppy to the Denton Vet Center to have them take a look at an injury to his eye that turned out to be a scratched cornea. They gave me medicine to treat him, that I used a prescribed. The injury didnt appear to be getting better so I took him back a week later. They gave me more medicine and I was sent home. During my two visits I didnt get a warm feeling from the vet. She seemed annoyed by the fact that my puppy was affectionately giving her kisses. The vet tech was much more loving to him which I was happy with. My puppy seemed quite stressed out about being there. When we returned home from the vet the second time my puppy started to cough so much that he was vomiting. I finally got fed up and took him to a different vet where they treated his eye (finally) and gave him medicine for the kennel cough he got from Denton Vet (he hadnt been around any other dogs where he could have gotten it). I wish that things had been different. I know that they cant always give me an easy fix to make my puppy better. However between the lack of recovery and the cold, disinterested attitude of the vet, I will not be returning.

Went here after having to find a new vet in the area and having a terrible experience elsewhere. Had a GREAT experience with the vet tech and with Dr Lindsey. Both had great attitudes and were respectful, cheery and very sweet to my cat. I felt like I could ask all the questions I wanted to without feeling like an idiot, that my cat was treated well and I completely understood everything they were telling me. I wasnt cut off or disregarded when I told them everything I could think of to help explain my cats issue (read: I overexplained) and thats really what I was looking for. Great experience overall. Place was clean and rooms were actually cute. It was about $250 for an exam, urinalysis and for a week and a half of antibiotics, which I felt was fair. GOING HERE NOW!
