On the morning of June 8, 2014 I went to Denton Regional ER to seek medical attention. I was impressed by how quick I got back to a room. That was great! However, it went downhill from there. My Doctor was Dr. Justin R. Northeim (how it appears on my paperwork). When he first came to meet with me he asked me what was wrong and I told him what has been done before for the issue I was having. He then said and I quote, "Your *** doesnt seem to be bothering you enough for something like that so that cant be the solution" (*** = my medical complaint). I felt at this point very hurt. It was also the beginning of what I would later find out that i wasnt being taken seriously at all. He sent me for a CT scan. The radiologists were very nice and it was a pleasant procedure. No complaints. I got back to my "room" (hallway bed) and waited..and waited. By the nurses station there was a female nurse and a male nurse. The female nurse (blonde w/ ponytail) was very obnoxious. Talking loudly and with no filter at all. I then heard my name. She loudly said, "Oh yea (my name) in Hallway A, her scan came back negative. She needs fluids and some meds." She should NOT have been speaking so loudly about my business/medical care. I dont want the whole world knowing about it. The same nurse assisted another female nurse (brown medium length hair) with putting in my IV. By this point Im really upset. They ended up giving me nausea medication and an antihistamine. I did NOT feel this was appropriate for my medical issue. However, I am not a DR so I went a long with it. I was given my medications and the nurses took off. I could still hear the blonde LOUDLY discussing my chart. What I was given, plans for discharge. Keep in mind at this point I cant even see her but I could still hear her. I was very tired of it so I decided I wanted to leave. The next nurse I saw walk by I told him I would like the IV removed and that I would like to be discharged. Upon my request my IV was removed and Dr. Northeim came back to see me. He asked why I wanted to leave and I was already upset with his level of care I just repeated that I wanted to leave. He then put the cherry on top of my already awful experience. I quote " Well, you were given *** (the nausea medication) and a symptom of that medication is that it sometimes makes you think you want to leave." What a complete insult to my intelligence. I could not believe those words came out of his mouth. After I repeated myself again that I wanted to leave I was given my paperwork and I left. I have never been so humiliated in my life or more displeased with my medical care. I have NEVER had a bad experience at Denton Regional until that day. I hope that this issue is taken care of.

I want to share with the world the horrible care and service i recieved at medical city of denton. First to begin upon checking in and waiting for a room to become available in the emergency room the 2 female staff up front were on there phones listening at the loudest volume some mama mia video or some concert which i found to be very unprofessional and upon saying so they did not even correct there actions and instead continued to watch it together loudly disturbing my peace knowing that they work in a ER and the people in the waiting room are sick and deserve some peace. Upon being given a room i was talked to and i expressed that i did not want to be pumped full of any drugs and made comfortable just to be sent home in agonizing pain i wanted to find the root to my over a month long vommiting and abdominal pain making me completely unable to hold down ANY fluids or food. Ive lost more than 40 pounds and im only getting worst. Ive had great health insurance my entire life but due to this sickness i recently lost my job and therefore lost my insurance and i get the worst treatment ive ever recieved anywhere after letting the registration know that. Everyone had a attitude with me and instead of treating me with compassion i was treated what i believe to be completely unfairly. I was practically kicked out with very little explaination some "doctor" Herrera who isnt even the doctor on my discharge papers came in and was talking to me then abruptly walked our without saying anything and the RN brought me discharge papers and written in hand writing on top and big capital letters is HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS which leads me to think they dont want me to come back then, highlighted are 6 reasons i should return to the ER immediately and i voiced without ever seeing this paper until discharged that 4 out of those 6 things i am currently experiencing. I was prescribed medication without any explanation of why or what they for and because of this freatment i refused to sign my discharge papers and left. Later after i had calmed down i call to speak to a supervisor and im left on hold for over 10 minutes and finally get to talk to supervisor amy and am left on hold another 20 minutes and oviously completely forgotten about causing me to grow more inferated and hang up. Working in the field yall do i expect better quality of care and compassion for the people that need you. I am already filing a complaint with the medical board and i hope noone recieves the kind of treatment i did.

I took my 5 year old daughter to the ER at Medical City in Denton after having abdominal pain (that she was at Baylor in Aubrey which was wonderful) two days earlier, leg pain the day after that and then a sudden onset of red patches on her legs and buttocks with difficulty walking. The patches started at 7:00 pm and then we were at the ER at 7:45 pm. The nurse that took us back was very nice and professional. The PA and Dr completely disregarded the preceding symptoms of the sudden rash. Diagnosed her with cellulitis. As a RN, I know what cellulitis is and that it does not just appear in a 30 minute time frame to 5 different areas of the body. I questioned all three of the staff several times stating that it did not make sense. I was told that she needed to see her pediatrician where she could have allergy testing done. When questioning both the doctor and the PA I was treated like an over-reacting mom and the diagnoses was cellulitis and there was no other options. No blood test was ever performed as well as any other testing. My daughter was sent home with two antibiotics that I never gave her because it was not cellulitis. The next day the "cellulitis" turned into bruises where new patches were forming. After a visit to the pediatrician and long wait for the blood tests to rule out certain blood conditions, my daughter was properly diagnosed with henoch-scholein purpura. A VIRUS that is not treated with antibiotics and could have been avoided if the PA and Dr would have done a simple blood test that night at the ER. After the horrible trip to the ER, I spoke with two physicians that were able to diagnose her with hsp via pictures and listening to her symptoms and confirming that it was not cellulitis as I suspected. Key words being "listening to her symptoms". It is truly a disservice to the public to have physicians working in hospitals when people are at their mercy and at their most vulnerable and not be treated properly. The public goes into the hospital and has complete trust that their loved one is being treated correctly and ethically by the physicians on staff. Luckily I knew that the diagnoses was incorrect and didnt give my daughter unnecessary antibiotics. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INTO THIS ER IF THE SAME DOCTOR AND PA ARE STILL WORKING THERE. Im sure there are very good ones too, but unfortunately we didnt get them that night in the ER.
