Average cost of a laparoscopic gallbladder removal should be around $5,500 according to the healthcare bluebook. This hospital however is attempting to charge over $35,000 for my procedure which I had over a year ago. My insurance at first was paying a majority of it, leaving me with around $4,000 out of pocket. Suddenly, over a year and a half after my surgery (and after paying $2500 of the $4,000 I was initially responsible for, I am now receiving a bill for over $29,000. Why do you ask? This hospital, after pre-screening and checking my insurance coverage, admittedly failed to clearly inform me that the procedure would be out-of-network and are now attempting to stick me with the bill that is clearly for an overcharged procedure. When looking up other reviews and complaints to the BBB, this seems to be a common practice with this hospital. Overcharge for the procedure or visit, not be completely honest and open with what the patient will be financially responsible for, try to sucker the health insurance company to pay for it, when that fails, go after the money from the patient themselves. Not a very ethical business approach to healthcare, especially for a new hospital that has only been open for a couple of year. Avoid this hospital at all "costs".

THE WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE! Unfortunately, I have a chronic condition and received treatment from countless facilities over my 45 years, so when I say this was the worst, I mean it. Pre-OP nurses were so unprofessional, some inexperienced, treated the nurses station as a "Racetrack" and left me praying I would not contract MRSA prior to my procedure. Post-OP-My assigned room was large and comfortable but again nurse staff was unknowledgeable, cold, unprofessional and frankly I doubt my night nurse was licensed. The night nurse could not answer any of my questions, multiple attempts to draw blood that left me bruised for weeks afterward (and I have bright blue veins that have never been difficult to draw from) injected me with narcotic IV and then asked me to sign legal medical documents!!!! At discharge, the nurse sent me home without a single discharge paper but a list of medicines I received Post-Op!! Folks I am not over exaggerating. If you have a choice....please chose another facility!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!! YOUVE BEEN WARNED!! ER visit I had on 03/10/2014 around 3 A.M: The nurse Karen was extremely rude and refused to honor my request of speaking to my attending doctor (Laughrey, Michael MD) before my discharge. The nurse stated that she didnt want to "wake the doctor up" because he was sleeping. I asked on two different occasions to see Dr. Laughrey but she said "No". Initially when Dr. Laughrey came to see me to check out the problem he looked like he just woke up and was speaking very slow like he was going to fall asleep. He also seemed very irritated at me and stated " You are only going to get one mg of pain medicine and nothing else". Then he left without asking if I had any questions/concerns. I ended up having to leave in pain and went to another hospital where they later admitted me and I stayed there for few weeks. The staff at this hospital was extremely rude and I plan to spread the word about my situation and poor treatment.

My girlfriend came to this hospital with anxiety attacks the doctor comes in and talks with us afterwards he ask her does she want something for her anxiety now she says yes please keep in mind she is crying and having seizure like activity this whole time he says ok would you like it in a shot form or pill she said a shot which suprised me because she hates shots he says ok. my girlfriend then said they usually give me a IV jus letting him know because we were here yesterday for the same reason and yesterday as soon as she came in they through a IV in her arm had to stabb her multiple times because the nurse missed the vain. He IMMEDIATELY get defensive and says your not gonna dicatat my practice ifi am gonna help you its how i want not you! and gets a attitude making the situation worse. Because he thought she asked for a IV when she clearly did not. he assumed she wanted to feel a high the nurse tells me. But why would doctors assume?

I will never go to this hospital as long as I shall live!!! I checked my daughter into the emergency room at 6:15p and wasted every bit of 6 hours we were there. Nothing in this hospital worked! Televisions didnt work, CT Scan didnt work and it took them 5 hours to figure out we needed to be transferred to another hospital where I am currently waiting. It is now 3:06a and my daughter has not received any service. We are sitting here freezing in their lobby with my daughter wearing a hospital gown. I have wanted to tell them several times to take this damn I.V. Out of her arm and Ill just take my chances. If it were me I would have left a long time ago but afraid there may be something wrong with my daughter. This is the worst hospital experience Ive ever experienced. Worse than Chicago Cook County in my opinion. Never go here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I have not yet received my bill. But I was in terrible pain and couldnt make the drive all the way to Arlington, or other hospitals. I was advised to go to the closest place, Texas General. My experience here with the staff was very positive. They did their best to put me at ease, and were even available to help when I got home and had questions about my outpatient procedures.I made a call and talked to a person in minutes, and then to the very nurse whod assisted me, not a call-bot or a menu of numbers. Nurses Chris and Marti were very helpful, as was the wonderful secretary at the front desk. So was Dr....Diamond? Sorry, cant remember. But she was wonderful too.Folks were very good and professional, and personable, and I am thankful for the VERY prompt and efficient care I received to remove my pain. -JDM

They about killed me!!! If it was not for my mother who just retired from JPS I would most likely be dead. The nursing staff failed to recconize a allergic reaction to pain meds, infiltration of the Iv site. Never DCD the meds, never gave a counter drug such as benadryl. Nothing changed till my mother came to take me home and found my face the size of a basket ball and my lips swelled up my eyes swelled shut whelps all over my body and she started spewing orders STAT and the finally got a house doctor in there who was not much better. My doctor Dr Kim. Never showed up to check in on me. Not once. The staff at this hospital was all foreign from Africa spoke poor english. I never saw 1 white or Hispanic staff member not that matters to me just saying. All I can say is go to a different facility if you value your life

My 2nd visit was an improvement over my first one. They were very kind and professional, and I felt my concerns were addressed. I did speak with their business office after my visit, to work out the specifics of the bill. Remember what your mom taught you? You catch more flies with honey than vinegar? In the United States, healthcare is not a "right." Its a service you pay for. And like any other business, when you talk to someone respectfully and work together to reach a solution, you tend to have better outcomes. In short, I am satisfied with the solution reached with the business office staff at Texas General. Yes, the bill is high. Its an out of network, private hospital. Not JPS. But a business is made up of people. And these are nice people who want to help. Texas General is getting better.
