I had a major back surgery on the 13th of this month and the quality of care that I got from the staff here was below standard. They never ordered any form of pain management for me after the surgery. The surgeon nicked my spinal cord and had instructed them not to get me up for 24hrs afterwards, but the first nurse I had said she didnt care what he said, that they had a standard protocol for this type of surgery and it was to get patients up walking right away. Needless to say that caused me to have major back spasms which caused me to be in even more severe back pain. I went 20 hours after surgery in immense pain, until one RN named Reggie actually tried to get me orders for pain meds. He started calling the doctor on call at 9pm and didnt get a response until 6am the next morning. If it hadnt been for the care he gave me, I probably never would have been given anything to relieve the pain. In the morning the pain management doctor came in and asked me if I had a narcotic addiction and thats why I had been asking for pain meds all the past day(day or surgery mind you). That night there was a nurse I had (an old hag from North Carolina) basically told me I was complaining to much about my pain, that she had pain in her back as well. She had the nerve to ask to borrow my back brace for her shift too. When it came time for her to give me my pain meds, she said "I just forgot all about you" so at that point my meds were an hour and a half late and when she did bring them she told me the pain med wasnt even ordered, but when I questioned her on it she said shed call the pharmacy and ask, she left the room and not even 10 seconds went by and she came back in saying the pharmacy said it was alright to override the computer. In my opinion she had it in her pocket and intended to take it herself. During my intire stay there, besides Reggie, none of the other nurses did their jobs. Nor did any of the CANs, besides Terry, my vitals werent taken regularly even though my blood pressure was extremely low (around 92/54, sometimes lower) the only CNA that took my temp or pulse the entire time I was there was Terry. Sometimes at shift change the new nurse wouldnt come into my room for 4 or 5 hours, multiple time I never even saw an RN at all during the shifts. The charge nurses were even less helpfull. If it hadnt been for my husband (who is a medic in the Army) being able to stay with me, I wouldnt have gotten any care at all except for the times I was assigned to Reggie or Terry. As a nurse myself, I cant say it enough, how horrible the level of care was at this hospital. I am ashamed of the training the staff there has, I think that many of them need to think about finding another form of work that doesnt require any form of compassion for other humans. I think this hospital requires to have some sort of evaluation done on a regular basis. Maybe a call to JCAHO toake a complaint is in order.

The Staff And The Doctors IN The Emergency Department are Extremely rude. Its a private hospital , in a good location with the best of the best "supposedly" a blend its truly not. This is the closest hospital to my home, but I rather take the 15 minute drive to Del Sol medical center, this hospital upsets and disappoints me every single time, its just horrible. Some of the nurses and doctors most of them in the ER are by far the worst . I went in obviously because I was in pain had cramps , abdominal pain nausea , they called me in after 1hr and 34 min of arrival there was only 4 patients in the waiting room with myself included. My mother would go and ask the receptionist what was taking so long, I was vomiting and in excruciating pain, rudely she told my mom there no beds! Like seriously it was 4 am the hospital was dead! Finally they call me in and once in the doctor takes another hour to see me, once he does he orders blood work and an IV. Nurses take another 40 minutes to do so, I ask for medication to stop the vomiting and pain so the nurse says " Ill have to wait till the doctor orders anything"... so another 1 goes by Im constantly vomiting and crying in pain , asking to please medicate me. Approximately 30 minutes later the nurse comes in give me Zofran for the nausea/vomiting and a tylenol 3 for the pain orally. Im still in pain and still throwing up. After about 20 minutes , nurse comes in and tells me Im being discharged with a diagnosis of abdominal pain and a stomach virus, as shes telling me Im al throwing up , confused about why Im being discharged while still in pain wondering why I had no ex rays or any CT scan performed . Im still in a lot of pain . So I ask to speak to the doctor and the nurse ask me "what for" so I tell her . I still dont feel good , Im still throwing up Im still in pain , I dont understand? So she goes and tries to get him to come back to my room to answer my questions , in she walks again telling me that he wont come talk to me that she can answer any questions I have. That was it for me , I asked her to take the IV off and off I went to Del Sol Medical Center Where I Got Admitted Immediately, Within The First 45 Minutes Of Arriving I Had An IV lab work and a CT scan . I was diagnosed and admitted to the hospital for appendicitis , within the next 3 hours from arriving I went into surgery to remove my appendix. What I had was serious and very dangerous. Providence sierra extremely disappointed me and is the worst hospital I have EVER been too.

Do not receive medical services with this hospital. They will bill you non-stop for non-payment regardless of payments actually have been made and will be sent to collections. This occurred when they were known as Sierra Providence. Last year, the first couple of months they apparently "lost" my insurance information and I had to call twice after they lost it yet again and provide the insurance information after I kept receiving bills for $2,000. Lets not leave out their wonderful customer service techniques such as, "Oh, um, I think we lost your insurance information. Yeah, um, we need it again." A couple of months after not receiving any further information, they billed me over $5,000 and threatened to send it to collections for non-payment and claiming no response from the insurance. The insurance company paid their portion at this point. $5,000 that magically appeared. I had not received a bill for that much until I moved and the company changed their name. Finally after charging the insurance correctly (it only took about 6 months), there was an agreement to pay $500 as a consolidated bill. A couple of months after that, they sent me confusing and contradicting bills of $500 and $2,000 and stated on the bill itself to pay the lower amount. The lower amount has been paid. It has been over one year and my credit has been ruined due to "non-payment" for the magical $5,000 bill. We have sent in receipts for payment for the consolidated bill and have not received a response. They will drag out your billing issues until they are able to send it into collections. University Medical Center is a much more reliable and professional hospital to receive services from in El Paso.
