Where do I begin? Just wonderful! As the Executive Director of a national animal rescue organization, Ive been working with Roanoke Animal for years, while they care for our rescued Bichons. Theyve always shown compassion and professionalism. Recently, Small Paws Rescue® assisted in bringing several mixed breed dogs up from a shelter in South Texas, in order to make room for Hurricane Harvey dogs and cats. The staff at Roanoke Animal Hospital has cared for each of these little ones with impeccable care! I receive daily updates on each dog and their current medical status. Over half of these little ones came in Heart Worm positive and all are receiving treatment at Roanoke Animal Hospital! One of their drug reps is sending a years worth of Heartworm preventative and six months worth of Next Guard home with each adopter! I will never be able to thank them for their love and concern for each of these precious dogs! Thank you to the owner and staff of Roanoke Animal Hospital! Dr Shepherd has always been a caring vet, with common-sense advice about our dog. However, the other vets seem to grossly overprescribe expensive medication. Fungal infection? Ok-lets do an oral anti fungal. Skin infection? Is it REALLY necessary to prescribe a host of wipes and fancy brand-only, super strong antibiotics? They also wont switch to a similar (or generic) drug, so dont bother asking. After 20 years in the profession of pharmacy, I happen to know that there are dozens of drugs that will do the same thing AND are safe for canines. We have spent literally thousands of dollars on our 1 dog in the past 20 months of going to this vet, and enough is enough. Its a shame, because I think that most of the staff is caring and dedicated. If you are an informed consumer, this place will frustrate you. If you blindly listen to any and all "advice," its gonna cost you.

Roanoke Animal Hospital is the best! I use Roanoke Animal Hospital for both boarding and the veterinary needs of my dogs. Last week I had a family emergency and needed last minute boarding. I called as soon as they opened and was able to drop off my two dogs within the hour. My (old) pups are always treated so good when they stay that I had no worries about their care and was able to take care of my family needs knowing that Sister and Filo would be taken care of and getting love and attention while I was away. They gave Filo an exam during the visit on my request and gave me a full report. It is so nice knowing that I have a place to count on when I have no local family for last minute emergencies. For Sister and Filo, Roanoke Animal Hospital is their extended family...I cant give a high enough recommendation!

We love these folks! The reception desk staff, techs, docs, and facility - all first class! We moved to Texas 2 years ago after having been with the same veterinary clinic, docs and staff for 20 years, and probably 30 different fur babies. Imagine our concern when moving here. We are concerned no more. Weve been going here for about 18 months now, and have been nothing but satisfied. This morning, my Portuguese Water Dog (Tank) saw the doc for a really bad stomach upset. He was poked, prodded, given an injection, and then when we went to leave, he sad down at the front door, and wouldnt leave. One happy boy! And a happy daddy as well!

Ive been using roanoke animal hospital for 7 years now. The last two visits have been horrible. This place is going down hill fast. Not only are they usually 3x as expensive as anywhere in the area the lack of communication is awful. I took my dog there to have a marble sized tumor removed on his neck. 8 inch scar and 18 staples later nobody can tell me why they cut him so far up his neck nor would they help wrap it up so he cant scratch it. Apparently after paying $1000 they want me to cut up my shirt instead of wrapping it up properly. WILL NEVER RETURN TO ROANOKE ANIMAL HOSPITAL AGAIN.

I do not recommend Roanoke Animal Hospital, always waiting long delays even when you have appointments and when you have an emergency or your dog is sick not attend because you do not have an appointment. I recommend taking it to a place where you attend emergencies because when something goes wrong is better to know the doctor and the doctor your pet. since they refused to care for my sick dog and he died I do not go to this place.

My wife and I love our dogs and when theyre sick and in pain we will do whatever to make them feel better. Ive tried calling Roanoke Animal Hospital but can NEVER get an appt. Either they are too booked or dont take walk ins or not an emergency hospital, blah blah blah. I just want my dog seen. Lady I spoke with too seemed uncaring as well as if I was bothering her and wasting her time. Ill go back to my old Vet in Valley Ranch.

Dr. Shepherd is by far the most empathetic, caring and thoughtful vet Ive ever met. We had to put my 13 year old dog down today and Dr. Shepherd was so kind and compassionate during a very difficult and emotional situation. He did everything to make our Lilly comfortable today and allowed her to pass with dignity and respect. I will forever be thankful to Dr. Shepherd.

Ive never felt rushed and they always take their time to make sure your pet is getting the best possible care. It truly feels like theyre passionate about what they do. We love it here.

I am a crazy cat lady! When I look for someone to take care of my fur-babies I look at every aspect and Roanoke Animal Hospital, from top to bottom, gets a 5-star rating. Their staff always makes me feel like my babies are in the hands of someone who loves them almost as much as I do and the doctors are so thorough!

They are expensive - but all costs are shown to you for approval before any work is done. Kennel boarding is reasonable and they will double up dogs when requested. Very caring staff - you are not rushed out the door. Although the logo shows a bird - we were referred to Southlake for our Macaw.

These guys were awesome with my mister kitty. He had to have eye surgery so he was not happy. Hes been my boy for years and being apart is hard on us both. They sent me pictures and kept me updated while he was away. His eye looks great now, he healed wonderfully. Staff is really friendly too.

Roanoke Animal Hospital has the nicest staff. The Vet was so nice and very helpful. All the techs were great and loved on my dog. The ladies at the front were great too and very helpful and went out of their way. I wish my doctors office was this nice:) From Lady Love Mom
