I saw the review about Amber (the office manager at RCCAH). The review and the allegations stated could not be further from the truth! I have been a client of RCCAH for about a year now. Amber has been nothing but helpful, considerate, kind, and compassionate with me and my animals. I have had EXTENSIVE and PROLONGED questions about my cats when they were sick. I KNOW I made myself more than a nuisance, but Amber ALWAYS made time for me, even though I KNOW she was busy, and could have rightfully been at another task, which I am SURE she had to finish at a more inconvenient time. Amber ALWAYS made time to take, and answer all my calls and questions. If she didnt have the answer, she would find it, and call me back immediately! I have seen her with other customers, and I can say the same could be said for their treatment also. She is very professional, respectful, kind and knowledgable. I have never felt more welcomed to a facility, as I have since Amber joined the team at RCCAH. Amber also makes sure that all clients get the best bang for their buck, by making sure all of statements are correct, any specials that are being promoted are utilized, and posted on your bill. Amber also gets your pet seen as soon as possible, and in at a time that is convenient to the client. Amber has been nothing but helpful to me, and all the other clients I have seen her go above and beyond the call of duty for.i am sure Dr. K knows what a quality, dedicated, and intelligent employee he has in Amber. I know that is why he has made her the office manager, and counts on her wonderful skills to keep his office running smoothly.

I called to make an appointment to see Dr. Kohnen on the recommendation from a relative who has been going to this clinic for years. The woman who answered the phone "Amber" was very rude and seemed to be inconvenienced by me. The way "Amber" spoke to me and the attitude I received from her made this clinic, in my eyes, not only unprofessional but shows a lack of caring. Sadly I did not make my appointment because if his staff that answers the phone is this rude and inconvenienced by a simple phone call I doubt the care for my pet would be any better. My relative also has stopped taking her pets here. She mentioned this "Amber" is not just this way on the phone but in person too. What a shame....

I have taken all my many pets and rescue animals to Dr. Kohnen at River City Companion Animal Hospital for 15 years. I met him when he was an associate at another hospital, and followed him when he opened his own practice. I have to drive farther to take my pets to him, but its worth it. He knows me, knows my pets, and knows veterinary science. I can always trust him to make the right diagnosis, help me when he can, and refer me to a specialist when necessary. He is careful with my pets, my emotions, and my budget. I love having Dr. Kohnen on my family health care team.

So far so good for me. Not sure what happened with poster Morna Quigley but I havent experienced any of that. The doc has always been in for me and his staff have always been very friendly. For me, the staff is what will cause me to leave a practice and so far Im not going anywhere. Even the doc was patient and didnt make me feel rushed when I was rattling off way too many questions. He answered them all and made sure I was clear and happy with the answers.

Dr. Kohnen is one of the best vets in San Antonio. His practice is always up-to-date as to equipment and procedures. If you need a specialist, he will recognize that and refer you. The office staff is friendly, caring and competent. I have been taking cats and dogs to him since before he had an individual practice. This practice has been established for many years and is one of the best in the city.

I have taken my animals to this clinic since it first opened. Over the life or our relationship he has treated 7 family dogs since 2004. The doc has always taken time to explain diagnosis and treatments. He always gives me options with different costs structures. His staff is super friendly. I highly recommend River City and Dr. Kohnen.

My dogs and I absolutely love this place! Always greeted with a friendly smile when we walk in the door. They are always prompt to get us into an exam room and weve never had to wait which is a super plus for me. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and very caring with our dogs needs.

Teri le place. Completely incompetent. The techs are rude and worse the vet could care less about animals, that is if he is ever actually in the clinic. Non compassionate and the misdiagnosed my dog. If you care and love your pets DO NOT come here!!!
