I trust Traveling Tails with my dogs and cat. Weve had such great experiences with this clinic during the past two years our pets have been in their care. The whole staff is very polite and capable. The assistants behind the counter always acknowledge that Im there - even if theyre on the phone or with another customer, they let me know theyll be right with me. Its a small thing, but nice. They are kind to our pets - they genuinely seem to be animal lovers. I have almost never had to wait to see the vet after I arrive for an appointment. On the rare occasion when there is a wait, theres a reasonable explanation and they let me know as soon as they realize therell be a delay, and how long they expect the wait to be. Everyone at the office is great with my animals, even when the animals themselves are not behaving themselves especially well. Theyve gone out of the way to help our dogs get over their fear of the strange smells and faces at the vet (I can bring them by the office just for treats to get them used to the place, for example). Theyve been perfectly saint-like when dealing with our cat (an ex-stray who growls at the top of his lungs and attacks humans when hes feeling scared, which is often) and they treat him just as well as theyd treat a prize-winning Persian. The vets at Traveling Tails are very capable. When I have questions about their recommendations, they have always given me answers that made sense. Theyve also let me know when there is more than one treatment option, and when they prefer one option over another they let me know why. Ive never felt like I was being "railroaded" into a decision without all the facts. They listen to my concerns and either overcome them or suggest something else. Dr. Tommack in particular has gone above and beyond to help. I mentioned once that my cat would freak out and growl at the top of his lungs and I couldnt figure out why. I didnt expect anything to come of it (Id mentioned this to the cats previous vet and he had shrugged off the question) but she suggested things to try to keep him calm, some of which actually work well. As a result, I have a much more peaceful home (usually). The mobile clinic is a great option with Traveling Tails. A visit from the mobile clinic costs just a little extra ($15 or $20 more, if I remember correctly), and its often very worth the small charge to avoid driving with a wimpering, carsick pup or a murderous, angry cat who intends to dismember me just as soon as he escapes from his carrier. Traveling Tails is next to Lucys Doggy Daycare, which I also use. Its a relief to know that theyre so close, because if anything happened to the dogs while I was gone, these people would definitely take care of my dogs. Traveling Tails offers a good option for boarding cats, too - if you visit their office you can often see happy visiting cats in the "kitty condos". I have never felt that anyone from Traveling Tails values money over the wellbeing of any animal. They volunteer their time and resources with spay-neuter clinics in San Antonio. Recently Rona from Traveling Tails helped me and my husband identify the breeds of two stray puppies found near our house, scanned them for microchips (none, unfortunately), and gave the Humane Society a quick call, all for no charge. She also took the time to write out contact information for other vet clinics and shelters in the area and made some good suggestions to help us find their family. Ive never had any trouble contacting, or being contacted by Traveling Tails. When they say theyll call, theyll call. Their online "pet portal" is a great way to keep my contact information up-to-date, so that I can be sure they have the right number on file. You can book an appointment online, and find their phone number and address on the website.

I recently moved and took my dog to Traveling Tails because it is closer than our regular vet and I suspected my dog had a UTI. Dr Tommack came in, seemed impersonal and had the demeanor as if she were hung over or something. She took X-Rays of my dog to see if there were any bladder stones and told us that there werent. 350 dollars later, I was sent home with antibiotics and told to come back in 2 weeks for a follow up. 5 days later, my dog was taken to the emergency clinic because she had SEVERAL HUGE (enormous) stones that were now lodged in her ureter and obstructing her ability to urinate. She had surgery to remove the stones. A week later, Traveling Tails calls to confirm the follow up appointment. I informed them that my dog had to have emergency bladder surgery and It is at this time that they inform me that they supposedly tried to call the day after the original appointment to let me know that my dog had severe hematuria and crystals in her urine, but they had been unable to get ahold of me because they "had the wrong number". They had the wrong number, but somehow managed to call to confirm the follow up appointment. The lady said that she looked me up in the white pages so she could call and confirm. So its worth it to them to take the time to look me to confirm an appointment, but when it comes to informing me that my dog is very ill, well, lets just "hope" the owner calls, right? Basically, what I take from this is that theyre money hungry and dont care about the health of the pets. Otherwise, wouldnt it have been worth it to try to get ahold of me before? I did pay over three hundred and fifty dollars for those results and was told if I didnt hear anything, I shouldnt worry. But they did go to the trouble to try to contact me to CONFIRM an appointment. Both Hematuria and crystals in the urine are signs of bladder stones, both of which they found out several days before I had to rush my dog to the emergency clinic in the middle of the night. So thanks for looking out for us, Traveling Tails. We wont be coming back.

I have been going to traveling tails for some time now. Weather it be shots, kenneling or check ups traveling tails was the place I put my trust. My wife and I who dont have all the funds in the world love animals! We found a sick puppy on the road and took him home. $350 and one day later he died :(. Several months went by when we yet again found another sick puppy and took her home. The next day my wife took her in for a check up and she was told she had parvo. with limited funds we were not able to pay for treatment. My wife came home crying her eyes out! The Dr. Told her she was irresponsible and should not be having pets if we couldn't afford to take care of them, practically shook her finger at her and told us not to come back. As for the Dr. I am sorry but we just want to give a sick puppy a warm home and some food before it passes away! My other two healthy dogs and little money that we have will not be back...
