Have been going to this office for about 4 years. Initially saw Dr Akright for the first several visits. Almost had one of my parathyroid glands removed but after consulting with the surgeon and questioning why the lab values might be high, I got them to retest my calcium (urine and blood) after taking much higher doses, low and behold they came within normal limits. Since then I have been passed off to Wendi, PA. I am not confident in her skills. My TSH has bounced around, other lab values unexplainably out of range. Visit before last she spent MAYBE 3 MINUTES with me, didnt palpate my thyroid, documented teaching on diet and two other things that absolutely did not happen and billed for an extensive visit. She aksovsaud i didnt need to take calcium and new research suggested it was just vitamin D that was needed. Hmmm, did anyone read a history? When this was brought up they were very uncommunicative. The techs on that visit couldnt get a bp by the machine l the fourth try with a small cuff on the wrist. It read a little high. They never checked it manually so now this elevated reading is party of my medical records. The exam itself was POOR!! I am a nurse and if I ever did that crappy of an exam, I would be ashamed... And Im just a nurse... Decided to give it another chance. Thyroid swollen and labs still out of whack so arm ultrasound was ordered. Sent a message through the portal asking for results. "WE" capitalized twice, in the message saying that WE werent concerned and WE didnt need to follow up on the nodule. Just sounded rather snarky. Funny how WE arent paying the bill, I ( capitalized) am. Just go somewhere else. Nobody needs that kind of attitude.

I want everyone in the San Antonio area to know that Dr. L. Akright is the worst endocrinologist I have ever had. I had her for 1 full year and only saw her on our first meeting for less than 5 minutes. She continually put her patients off to her assistants. They are always overly anxious and not personable in any way shape or form. The receptionist area is a zoo and I once sat in there for 45 minutes after my blood tests only to find out that I wasnt going to be seen that day. The lady at the desk never bothered to inform me of that. I just got off the phone with my pharmacy to reorder my insulin and came to find out that Wanda, at Dr. Akwrights office, cancelled all my prescriptions when I told them I would no longer be their patient. That has never happened to me before and find this insulting and as well as negligent. I am still a diabetic and still need insulin and will not meet my new endocrinologist until April 8th. What am I supposed to do now? I would never recommend anyone to this office.

worst endocrinologist ever, be ready to wait at least two hours before you see the doctor, once she gets to the room, she spends 5 minutes with you and her assistant comes in, if you have to leave a message, do not expect a call back, Sheryl or Ashley will never call you back, you have to keep calling till you get the answer, by the way, the doctor will never call you, I usually make my appointments at 9:15 AM so I can be the first patient well the Dr. Akright does not come to the office till 10:00 am, so take a bunch of magazines or if you take like to browse the media in your phone take your charger because once the doctor walks in, she still takes her time to review files and run other procedures in the office. All I have to say is that your time is worth it too, and Dr. Akright or her staff dont seem to care about it, and besides the cares she provides is not the best.

I have yet to meet this dr. I have called several times, the most recent today. Spoke with Cheryl in person and she told me she had me on the list and would definitely call me back She never did. I even spoke to her again a few weeks ago and she said the same thing, she would call me back. I am wondering if this dr is even worth visiting if her new patient person cant return a phone call. I am sorry to sound terse, but Dr. Akright was recommended by my GP doctor who said she could no longer help me manage my diabetes. I am trying to get help and be seen, but I am jumping through way too many hoops in order to even get an appointment.

Unfortunately, my very first review to ever be posted anywhere on the web is a negative one. While I am sure Dr. Arkright is an awesome person and competent physician, I was charged $100 for a visit I never made and for services never received.I had canceled my appointment but there wasnt any evidence that I could back up my claim. This led to me getting reported to a credit agency, which affected my credit. I paid off the credit agency to proceed with my refinance, but it galls me to no end to make this payment. If you ever cancel an appointment with this office, beware.

I really, really like this doctor. She is real, down to earth, and cares. I have seen her four times now for thyroid nodules and it was scary at first, thinking I might have cancer. She was quick to reassure me to not go there yet. And even it if was cancer, thyroid cancer is one of the most curable. She also now treats me for my diabetes. The office was professional yet caring. I will continue to use Dr. Akright as long as I am able to and I would highly recommend her and her office.

I was very ill with many symptoms, most that pointed back to hyperthyroidism. My original endocrinologist in SA, who took me off my Rx the year before, said there was nothing wrong with me. I saw a variety of other specialist. Finally, I was referred by an acquaintance to Laura Akright. She is very caring and treated me for symptoms since I had been diagnosed previously with hyperthyroid, put me back on Rx and I finally returned to normal. I am so thankful for her!

Her office has moved to 5000 Schertz Pky, Schertz, TX 78154. The only negatives that I have are that she does not examine my wifes feet (though she knows that I do so every day) and some inadequate directions for use of testosterone (which caused me some pain (search youtube for "testosterone Runels Method" ) and a minor acne flare up). I must have seen a dozen GPs and half a dozen Endocrinologists before she finally found the problem with my thyroid.

Unfortunately, I had the most horrid experience at this location last week. The people were rude, condescending and extremely unprofessional. Sadly, I will be taking my business elsewhere since not even the office manager nor my doctor have returned my calls or emails regarding my concerns. Moving forward.

Best endo you could ever have the honor to meet. She is a fantastic woman. When she did not know/could not find an answer to my problems, she consulted with other doctors about me until a solution was found. I very highly recommend Dr.. Akright.
