If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Where do I begin? Ill start small. The staff is very knowledgeable, warm, and kind-hearted, and the atmosphere of the building is cozy. During my visit, before we even left the lobby to go to the back for exam, I was given an invoice of scheduled services upfront so that if I wanted to refuse or hold off on any of the services, I could. I was very impressed with this, what was clearly the protocol at Westridge. Its not only professional but incredibly considerate. You wont find any surprise fees here. I saw Dr. Sovereign and I can not say enough good about this woman. I came to this place to explore their "fear free vet visit" services, as I have a very fearful dog whose fear sometimes manifests as aggression. My expectations were exceeded. Not only is the staff knowledgeable about proper body language and conditioning to use around a fearful dog, they also hold a philosophy that gives fearful dogs what they so desperately need. Time. They are willing a prepared to go at the dogs pace. I was not only able, but encouraged, to let my dog take the time she needed to be comfortable. My appointment for vaccines took an hour and a half (much longer than standard, Im sure - remember, my dog is very very fearful), and I never once felt like a burden. In fact THEY apologized to ME that it was taking so long, when I couldnt have thanked them enough for doing everything in their power to make my dog as comfortable as is possible for her. If it werent for the fact that I needed the vaccines that day, they were prepared to let me come back on another day if thats what Arden needed. They encouraged me to come back as often as I want for "social" visits (free of charge) to get Arden accustomed to the environment, and Dr. Sovereign herself will straight up sit with your dog and feed him/her treats in what Im sure is limited downtime, even if you dont have an appointment scheduled. Theres no rushing you or your dog and they are willing to work with you as often as you need so your dogs vet visits become a positive experience. I couldnt have asked for better service today, and Ill definitely be going back, for both "social" and veterinary visits. If your dog hates the vet, people like Dr. Sovereign and the rest of the staff are a massive blessing. Do yourself and your dog a favor and make Westridge your regular vet. (P.S. I live in Helotes and my drive time is at least 30 minutes, and 1604 is the worst, but THAT is how worth it it is to go to this Pet Hospital. Its unlike any other vet that I have ever been to.) Thank you, Westridge!

Loved Dr.Tewell and staff - theyre second-to-none! They really took the time to examine and discuss treatment options and went above and beyond my expectations. Very professional and compassionate staff! Highly recommend! Updated 9/28: I was again AMAZED by the compassion of the staff at Westridge! They have been caring for my dogs since I moved back to San Antonio six months ago and I couldnt be happier! Recently, my younger dog had a emergency vet visit at a different clinic that I suspect the staff used rough, aggressive restraint techniques (I could even hear them yelling at him) and now, unfortunately, my happy-go-lucky dog now has full on panic attacks at the vet. I have background in animal behavior training and I was totally shocked when Dr.Sovereign asked if she could try the Dr. Yin positive-reinforcement approach they had been studying and take longer for the appointment, give him treats, and make it a positive experience. Thats EXACTLY what he needed; she and her techs even took him back to the exam room and gave him treats for doing tricks! By the end of the visit, he was much more relaxed and they were able to give him his vaccinations without any problems. Thank yall so much for taking the time to create positive experiences for us and our dogs!

I found this veterinary office partially by luck online. Its a 35 minute drive from our house but its well worth it. I am so glad that we ended up here! My poor boy had been fighting a yeasty ear for the better part of a year. The previous vet, although very affordable, kept packing his ear and would only temporarily relieve the issue. We saw Dr. Sovereign and she treated him in a completely different manner and addressed the underlying infection along with the yeast. Im confident that with some work on our part, Charlies ear will be back to normal in a few weeks. The staff were so incredibly loving towards our boy. They gushed over him the whole time we were there and he loved them back :) I look forward to taking my other babies there as well as Charlie over the course of the rest of their lives! Do not waste your time with other traditional veterinary offices. These doctors take the working parts of traditional medicine and combine them with nutritional supplements and Chinese medicine.

My dogs are not just pets, they are members of the family. We had been going to several vets but we just werent satisfied with the care they were receiving and how are girls were treated. We read all the positive reviews about Westridge Pet Hospital and decided to give them a try. Well it was the best decision we ever made. Dr. Fransik is not only a great vet but personally cares for your dog or cat and treats them with such kindness. She explains everything to you and answers your questions without rushing and takes her time with you at your visit. I have had dental cleanings twice, a spay and cancer removal on our girls, and her treatments, care and compassion made all the difference in the world and made us feel confident they were in good hands. Our dogs are healthy and they look forward to going to the vet. I would highly recommend Dr. Fransik and Westridge Pet Hospital. Also, their prices are reasonable for such high quality pet care!

They are AMAZING! Our four-legged little fur person had developed a very severe reaction, five years ago, to her rabies vaccinations as she became adult age. After her last rabies vaccination, my husband and I decided that we would not put her through that experience ever again. So, I started to research different approaches to vaccinations that would be less traumatic for our little Mochie; and found the Westridge Pet Hospital and Wellness Center. Their approach was to seriously consider her past and complete medical history when deciding how to minimize the side effects of her vaccinations. I am extremely happy to report; Mochie did not have any discomfort or delayed reactions associated with her rabies vaccination given by the staff of the Westridge Pet Hospital and Wellness Center. Thank you Westridge staff, you are very special, remarkable and loving people. Sincerely, Mochie, Mommy and Daddy Olsen

Above and Beyond! We needed a vet asap and ours was unavailable. They were open Saturday morning and able to take her quickly, no wait. Not only was Winnie (our dog) their emergent patient so were my boys. They treated them just as importantly, kind and caring, asking them questions and actively listening, even getting them involved in her care. They completed a very detailed assessment and looked all the pieces of the puzzle before coming to the diagnosis. We received the medication she needed but also some that focused on her long term wellbeing. They followed up on her and sent her a card. They have a different approach to animal medicine. Before I would have been "meh" to it, but now watching my poor Winnie and having a completely new vet experience I know I have a partner who is invested in her health as I am. She bounced back within a day or two and doing fine. This is the place to go!!
