I nearly died as the result of a leg injury. I alerted Dr Spanns assistants that i had a family history of blood clots. I was told not to worry about it. Long story short I had a pulmonary embolism a week or so later. Dr Spann (nice fellow) told me numerous times it was very rare. All of the ER doctors that saved my life told me it was very common...numerous times each. This is the info I have, so I dont know. I have read it is common with a leg injury, but I am not an expert. Second, my knee was the size of a basketball and I was diagnosed with a hairline fracture on my fibula. I was told to stay off it for a month. After the month I still couldnt walk or bend my knee, so I was sent for an MRI. I have a torn ACL, degeneration of the meniscus, sprained MCL and PCL, something about edema, a bone contusion in tibial plateau, hahahahaha jesus christ. I dont think my little niece could have done any worse throwing a dart left handed at a list of leg problems. I saw Dr Spann in 2 visits an estimated 3 minutes total and it was that long because he spent time convincing me my PE was rare. You deal with his assistants only. In conclusion, I now am awaiting an appointment with a real Dr., not assistants. I am most likely going to need major surgery. However, because of the "rare" pulmonary embolism, I cannot be removed from blood thinners for 6 months without risking death again. So, unfortunately this gross diagnosis I received a month ago probably ruined any chance I had at getting this taken care of and having a normal quality life. I am really hoping I will be able to end up with just slight problems walking. On the flip side, if you are not scared of dying, you have money to burn on bad diagnosis, and dont really care about your health.....then go here. Like I said, he seems like a nice guy but I really didnt get much chance.to talk to him.

Now really, cant say we Loved it"! However, the level of care and medical attention was extraordinaire! My husband had his toe surgically removed by Dr. Burns. The surgery and recovery, due to the attention of the doc and staff, was much shorter than expected. The facility and the people that serve the patients are to be commended. From the the time our family visited with Dr. Burns about my husbands toe to the last visit at the office only can be described as, "as good as it gets"! He always explained the good side of what could happen and the possible negative side of the condition, a very honest approach! We especially like the fact that Dr. Burns has such wonderful PAs. All of our questions could be directed to them and we received the information that we needed in a timely manner. We never felt like we couldnt speak with Dr. Burns directly if we felt it was necessary. On one visit, the day of the flood, we saw another PA. She examined my husbands foot and she felt more comfortable having Dr. Moore step in and take a look at the healing. We appreciate her level of caring. The ladies in the front need to be commended. They were friendly, quick with paper work and referred to us by our names. All in all, you cant go wrong using this facility. If you take the time to ask questions and are in a positive frame, you will get the answers you want. Dealing with any family member having surgery is never easy, but with Westlake Orthopaedics Spine & Sports you can get the best positive outcome you desired. Listen, follow directions and if you dont understand, ask questions. Thanks to you all!

I had an amazing experience with Dr Spann and his Physician Assistant Katherine Miller. They are an amazing medical team, and their medical assistant Amy is phenomenal as well. I was referred to them after more than 20 rears of back and neck pain. I had tried all the conservative treatments and had many orthopedic consults but nothing worked anymore. Dr Spann recommended lumbar fusion surgery and now for the first time since I was a teen I have little to no back pain. Its really a miracle since before the surgery I was lying on my back and couldnt get up. I also had cervical fusion surgery with them which went very well. My husband has had two knee surgeries with them and my mother just had lumbar fusion surgery as well. Surgery isnt easy and the recovery is hard but with their care, it was far less painful than what I was feeling before surgery. This team cares about their patients, they spend time talking to you. I never felt rushed or pushed out the door. Thank you for giving me my life back!

Excellent - Like Family I have been a patient of this practice for over 25 years, The doctors have performed several surgeries on me over the years. I have an autoimmune deficiency that has affected several areas of my body. They have corrected issues with my Knees, shoulders, fingers, wrist , tissue and most recently my 3rd back surgery; a 3 level fusion performed by Dr. Spann. Most would not have attempted this surgery yet Dr. Spann was willing. The pain I was in was intense and I was loosing the ability to walk due to nerve impingement. I am 3 months out now and what a difference! I am thankful he was willing to help me. Over the years Dr. Moore, Dr Spann, Caroline, Cindy, Johnny, Jennifer and Amy have treated me not like a patient but a family member, providing constant support, kindness and above and beyond patient service. I an forever grateful for all of them!

Dr. Frosty Moore and his assistants are great I have never had a problem with them and would recommend them to anyone if they were not at Westlake Orthopedics. I came here because of Dr. Moore. The wait times at my regular appointments was always at least 30 minutes after my appointment time with no explanation given. I was given shots and not told that the co-pays were 5 times as expensive as the prior shots. The general attitude of the management was too bad so sad pay up or we turn it over to collections. I wish the practice was managed better so I would not be in the position of having to find another Doctor. I hope Westlake Orthopedics is making very good money because they could care less about their patients.

Dr. Spann doesnt seem to care for his patients. He has his assistant do all the work. I spent maybe 4 minutes total seeing him in person over the course of 5 visits. He did not even come out to tell my family how my surgery went after it was done - very poor taste. He may be a good surgeon, but come on - try and give a care about people.
