Ive been a patient of the same physician there since I was a kid. Now Im in my 30s and I now unfortunately need to pull the plug on my relationship with this establishment. Grievances: 1.) While the physician Ive seen has historically been good at spending adequate time and covering everything (and Ive publicly praised him for it), Ive noticed over the last couple of years that my appointments seem to have been consistently cut short -- as in, I feel like Im in the middle of talking to him, and then suddenly he disappears. I think he must be coming back, but then I realize that nope -- thats the end of the appointment. So much for my questions I had for him. I can forgive this happening once or twice, but this has been for probably the last 5 typical check-ups. There must have been some changes to make his practice change like this and make him feel so rushed and just disappear -- its just too bad because I was very happy with him before. 2.) Good luck getting your medical records. They have some sort of "patient portal" -- but its fairly useless. None of your clinical documentation goes in there. What you can see though: the data that you yourself put in there -- which is the data I dont need. With as much as people pay for healthcare and as important as the information is, Im a big believer that everyone should have access to their medical records. Now ... I will say that there is a medical records department where you can request your records. I requested my records 3 months ago. I was told Id be getting a phone call when they were done. I just called them again yesterday to remind them about it. Today they called me back and said they forgot but the records are now ready for me to pick up at the Lehi office (Cmon ... this day and age, can we not just put it online, or at a very minimum, just email a PDF?) during business hours. I was also told as a side-note that it was going to cost me something like $17 to get them too. "Printing fees." Seriously? Printing fees? Shouldnt me accessing my records be included in the costs of the original transactions I had with you? Heres the deal -- Im a patient going to my physicians appointment and youre getting paid quite a bit of money for the ultimate purpose of me getting information about my health. When I request my medical records -- that very information I already paid for, you shouldnt charge me $17 more for it. This isnt the reason why Im leaving, but it is just more ammunition to seal the deal. 3.) I recently got an email from Premier Family Medical about a new policy update regarding copayments with high deductible insurance plans. Ive been on a high deductible plan for years with no problems. I get it and Im fine with pretty much paying the whole cost with no insurance assistance before the deductible is met -- thats how it works. Ive always paid their due money. But their new email says: "With our new policy on high deductible plans, you will be asked to pay a deposit of $75.00 at the time of service." Part of the reason of having a high deductible plan is to have the ability to have a Health Savings Account for the tax benefits. Those are government-auditable accounts, so you need to keep the documentation of all of the transactions to prove that they are for appropriate and approved healthcare transactions. This is usually (and most easily) done by matching insurance copayments with card transactions. Unfortunately, depending on the status of the deductible, their new "$75 deposit" policy requires you to either split one copayment into two ($75 and the rest later), or it requires a deposit of $75 which would need to be partially refunded since that is an over-payment for me most of the year. Both of those scenarios are a bookkeeping headache/nightmare with the HSA documentation. Those are my biggest 3 grievances. Its certainly not worth it to drive clear over to your office to be treated like that any more. Ill be at a place that has a real patient portal and has all of these issues resolved.

I was sick and had 3 small children with me so I didnt want to wait in a waiting room for a long time. I called the urgent care and they said they take appointments so I made an appointment. I waited 2.5 hours in their waiting room with three small children. My appointment was for 11am and I wasnt seen until 1:30. Im sure the doc took a nice long lunch instead of seeing me. Its not a problem they wanted to take a lunch. The problem was they made an appointment with me before their lunch and treated me poorly by telling me theyd be with me in a few minutes. I asked when I was going to bee seen and you could tell the front desk was ashamed of how long they were making me wait. I would have been seen 10x over by just going to an IHC Instacare that doesnt take appointments. I would have left, but they kept telling me it would just be a few minutes. I didnt want to take 3 little kids to another waiting room (one of them had strep throat and was miserable). Once I was seen I told the doctor and the PA in no uncertain terms that I felt the practice was very rude and disrespectful. Theyre obviously gods because they have a PA or some other sort of paper to hang on their wall and they were offended that I would tell them they were rude for making an appointment with me and then making me wait 2.5 hours. I could never treat someone like that and I didnt think it was fair for them to treat me that way. All they had to do was swab my throat and write me a prescription because I was sure it was strep throat. In total, they swabbed my throat (as I had asked) and said I had strep throat. I knew that already because my little son had it as well. I was with the PA for less than 5 minutes. On my way out I was given a prescription for my symptoms and a letter saying I was no longer welcome at the practice. I laughed. How dare we offend the medicinal gods and tell them their practice was poorly run and rude! As if I would ever come back to Premier Family Medical Clinic. I visited the AF location on this occasion and I had used the Lehi location in the past. I was always treated well in Lehi. I highly recommend finding a different location for your urgent care needs. I have used IHC Instacare in Saratoga Springs on several occasions for myself, my wife and my children. Ive always had a good experience there.

An absolute joke of an establishment. Their communication skills intra-office are terrible. I have been in to see two separate doctors but mainly Mark Hafen. Each time I have gone in (approximately 5) they ask me old questions that Ive already answered. They have my health history wrong. They havent updated my information. They have my prescription history incorrect. Last time I was in was following a surgery and I was, as instructed by the surgeon, seeking pain medication from mark hafen (my then current PCP). I told the nurse what I had been on since the surgery in regards to pain medicine, and I was also in search of some anxiety medicine. The doc came in and asked about what/why I needed the pain medicine and was going to give it to me. When he was about to leave the room I asked him about the anxiety medicine and he said there werent notes about that. She either didnt type and save it, or he lied. Either way he gave the pain meds and anxiety meds. A couple hours later, of course after they were closed on a friday, when I went to pick up the prescriptions the pain meds were cancelled. He did this because I had gotten some, though was out after taking them as prescribed, from my works FREE clinic. first off, I had told his nurse about those and told him it was free, which is why I went to the clinic. Being that its free it rarely has appointments so when I came to see him it was because there were no appts. the following monday he gave some medicine. I went to see him again, a week later (hed only given me 5 days worth of meds) to get a refill and he said no. This was after seeing the surgeon who told me to seek my PCP for the meds. He wouldnt say why, or come to the phone, or schedule an appointment. I then got lucky and got into my clinic and she said no because Hafens office had called her to say no. So, terrible communication, cares more about himself than the patient, and accuses patients of being pain addicts whether they are or not. Ive had it with them. I hope no one ever has to go through what I have. Proceed at your own risk, but this is a horrible doctor with a sub-par staff.
