I dont even know where to start. I WILL be filing an injunction against this facility for false imprisonment and criminal negligence. I took my father to this hospital when he had a stroke several days ago. this is his second stroke in 2 months which has left him barely able to use a spoon or fork. the very first night he was there he made the comment that he "didnt want to live like this" for obvious reasons he had become incontinent which would be hard for anyone to go through. however due to the comment they deemed him suicidal! they took away his cell phone and all other personal belongings and put a person in his room to sit there and watch him like he was a criminal or psychopath. this happened as i walked in to the hospital on my first visit with him. seeing him in distress and visibly upset i felt that it would be best to move him to a different hospital. the manager on duty at the time told me that he could not leave do to the suicide watch. When i asked her to show me the papers stating that my father had been found unable to make sound decisions and was a danger to himself or others she could not provide them. I explained to her that it was very risky legally speaking depriving someone of their civil liberties due to the fact that there many issues when it comes to holding someone against their will. i then asked if she was refusing to honor his wishes to be moved to another facility she said "YES" i then asked are you also refusing honor my wishes as his son to release him again she said "YES" i then replied ok then we will see you in court and turned to leave. during the exchange of words three security guards had arrived and as i walked away she said they needed to talk to me i told her i didnt give a f**** if they wished to talk to me they then piled into the elevator i was in and proceeded to tell me that i was not welcome back at the hospital that night. i called them from home and again requested they transfer him to a different hospital they again declined. i told the manager i would be hiring a team of attorneys to land in the middle of their sh** and they would burn for what they where doing. again they took words out of context and told local police that i had threatened their lives. I WAS AT A LOSS AND FINALLY JUST GAVE UP FIGHTING THEM. the next day they had evaluated him and deemed him not a threat to himself but failed to notify me of this i went to see him the next day and he was tangled up in his blankets with the bed alarm going off and the nurse didnt come for at least five minutes after i got there it was goin off when i walked out of the elevator. my brother his other son had called me saying that he couldnt get through to him when he called the hospital when i visited this morning he was again tangled in his bedding trying to get free to use the urine bottle that was placed right next to his breakfast which he did not eat remember that he has no motor control i had to help him use the urinal he told me he felt worse every day and was losing more of his motor function every time he woke up. i looked for his room phone and there wasnt one!!!!! thats why my brother couldnt get through so i pushed the call button on his bed AND 15 MINUTES LATER A MANAGER SHOWED UP SAW I WAS THERE AND THEN CALLED THE NURSE. the nurse came and when i explained that he felt worse every day she replied "well i see hes not eating. he needs to eat" my father then said he didnt want what they brought him she said "well you have a menu all you have to do is use your roomphone to call and order whatever you want" i pointed out that there was no phone in his room she acted shocked. The bottom line is these people in this hospital have made a difficult time pretty much unbearable the lack of compassion and care is horrific and i will do everything i can to make sure no other family has to go through what we have. AND THEY STILL HAVE YET TO CONTACT ME. THIS HOSPITAL SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

The front desk staff was awesome and they were very efficient at getting me back to be seen as quickly as possible. The rest of my experience went from bad to worse. I went to the E.R. for 2 reasons, excessive swelling in my feet and inability to urinate. After doing an ultrasound of my legs (to check for blood clots and deep vein thrombosis) and a chest x-ray (both of which were not really necessary in my opinion), and a lot of blood work that they said was all normal, I left the hospital in the same condition I went in for. I could have paid a $60 co-pay to go to an urgent care and found out the same information I did and not had to pay a $250 co-pay. I still feel like there is a heaviness in my bladder and am unable to urinate a lot. I was told that the swelling in my legs and the inability to urinate are most likely not related. I drank 6 bottles of water the day before I went in and they told me there was a very small amount of urine in my bladder, so they would not recommend catheterizing me. Where did all that water I drank go? They sent me home feeling worse than when I first went in. I was sent to see a Urologist today, also referred to by their staff and got the same answers, nothing! I ended up getting a pelvic exam. What that had to do with not being able to pee, I am not sure? Nothing was ever done or given to me for relief. I was not catheterized (something I have had done 2-3 times before) and was not put on anything for the swelling in my feet. I have a right pelvic kidney. Isnt there a possibility that this may have something to do with not being able to pee. The last time I had an ultrasound of my kidneys, the right pelvic kidney was near my bladder. So here I am at work (with my shoes off because my feet are so swollen I cant keep them on) and my feet propped up on 2 pillows on a chair with an severe urge to pee and cant. This is pathetic and Meredith (my nurse in the E.R. was not empathetic in any way, manner or form, but was instead defensive and telling me things I did not need to hear, such as how the majority of their patients leave the hospital without answers). My needs were met and I think I know my body better than you do. I have multiple notes from other hospitals to prove it. Yet, you did nothing but take my money. Shame on you, Banner Baywood! I wouldnt come back to your E.R. if I was dying!

My Father was initially transported, from Banner Gateway, after waiting in the ED lobby for four hours before he was assigned a holding room in the ED, dispite of his underlying issues, which were rectal bleeding and diarrhea , fever, very weak, disoriented, mind you he is eighty four years of age. He was the at around 3:00 am transported to Banner Baywood, since his stay there it has been a very bad experience, the following day my two sisters and arrived early in the morning, stood with my father until 9:45 pm, having to change his diaper, because he was put on lactulos, and after pushing the call light was taking around twenty minutes before any responce, and we didnt want my father to be laying in his stool, we left after communicating with, his charge nurse Erik. After an hour later get a call from Erik indicating father was out of the bed pacing back and forth, and that they were short staffed. My sisters came right back to the hospital to take care of my father, knowing that in no way possible could my father even stand, he was so weak and disoriented, and trying to pace with SDS on your legs. That was a lye, the truth was the nurse didnt want to clean my fathers mess every fifteen minutes he was having a bowel movement, my sister stood over night sitting in chairs, taking care of my father dpind the nurses and sides job, and no one even bothered to check in to see if they needed anything or assist. We have been there around the clock for my father, since then the only person who came in so far has been claudia the aid on the 2nd day to help and assist when she could, and in the third day Ernest and Edward, then the 4th day Dito, they were all aids. The nurses since my fathers stay except for Kirsten, Mellisa, Emelda, have been responsive, the other nurses so far have been rude , no compassion . It has been the worst experience for my father as well as us, his daughters, I would never recommend this Hospital to anyone, we didnt have an option he was transported here because Banner Gateway we were told was full to capacity and had no GI Dr.s.
