I came in to have my puppies dewclaws removed. I asked if I should bring the mother of the puppies and was told yes. I sat in the waiting room for a over a half hour with puppies and an anxious puppy mother, while multiple dogs came in and out. I asked several times if I could be placed in a room so my dog could feed her puppies, but was told that there were no clean rooms and that they were running behind. Once I was placed in the room, I put a blanket down so the crying puppies could eat. One had already thrown up (this made me quite worried that maybe the stress and time away from mom was too long). I asked if the vet would be doing the procedure in the room. I was told "maybe" and then a firm no..."the mother dog could get aggressive". I was told I could maybe go in the back with the puppies...and then I was told no. The tech kept leaving and coming into the room with different answers. I was stressed and frustrated. After being there an hour, without the chance to ever speak to the vet (I kept being told that he was with another animal), I decided to leave. I called my regular vet (who I originally chose not to visit because he is located in Sandy), and got an appointment. The situation did not get any better when I told them I would be leaving. I left feeling like my actions and ethics as a dog owner were being questioned. It was a very unfortunate interaction. My situation and dealings with this clinic have been far from ideal. Their customer service and business practices have convinced me to take my business back to my original vet, who is farther away but does an outstanding job. I highly advise those looking for vet services to look elsewhere.

We travel from NC to Utah often & bring our pets with us. Unfortunately during our most recent trips our dogs got a little antsy & well one thing led to another & we were in need of a veterinarian to mend our little Molly. Our daughter referred us to Utah Veterinary Hospital where we met Dr. Sam, of course we were very anxious because we didn’t know the vet or the clinic but we needed to make sure our Molly would be fine & not be left with any permanent damage. From the time we met the staff & Dr. Sam we felt very comfortable that we were in the right place to help our girl. Dr. Sam alerted us to some issues that took place during the fight & gave us options to what we needed to do. She needed surgery but Dr. Sam said we could get away with holding off for the time being so we could get the main areas healed. He took the time out to contact our vet in NC once we had discussed the opinions we were faced with. We decided to go with medication until we get home then see our vet to fix her nose. We have to thank Dr. Sam and his staff for the care they took care of our Molly. With this being the first time we have ever had to seek a vet to do anything with our pet family we feel very blessed to know in the event we need him again we feel extremely comfortable to have him as our Veterinarian we found that Dr. Sam is very professional, courteous, knowledgeable & very passionate to his trade. We would be pleased to have him as our vet in NC as well. Thank you again to Dr. Sam and his staff. Best Regards, Mr. & Mrs. East

***Update 6/16/2017*** After leaving my less than favorable review the office manager Mariah reached out to me with genuine love and concern for my sweet dog. I was able to explain my concerns and I actually felt heard which I appreciate very much. After much thought I agreed to give Utah Veterinary Hospital a second chance provided I could stay with my dog. The staff was amazing! My dog was scared and not the most cooperative but the staff remained calm. I was very impressed with how the staff handled my scared dog. They were not only gentle with her but they did their very best to keep her as calm as possible. Having a rescue dog I have to be more patient and understanding with my dogs insecurities; I really appreciate the staff being so patient and understanding as well. I took my rescue dog in for a nail trim, I explained she is more comfortable having me with her but they wouldnt let me go. I heard her crying then shortly before she came out I heard a loud yelp. After she came out she was bleeding; not only did they cut the nail too short they also cut her pad. It took over 7 hours for me to stop the bleeding, it only stopped after I wrapped her paw like a cast. During that time she left pools of blood everywhere she walked; I had blood all over my car and my house. This was supposed to be a simple nail trim and it turned into a tramatic event for my already skiddish rescue.

Can I give no stars? First, an ridiculous amount is charged for the initial visit. The doctor ( are they doctors?) prescribes my dog a few things and gives us some care instructions to help my dog heal. After a few weeks, I saw some improvement in my dogs condition, and brought him back to the vet for a follow up visit. I figured, being that I already spent almost $1000 for the initial visit, the veterinarian can take a look at him to see how things are progressing, and refill the meds if needed. I expected, after dropping that kind of money for the original diagnosis (guess) a follow up visit would be part of the initial fee, or at least not too substantial. NOPE! After at least an hour of waiting, he takes 5 minutes to look at the dog, and I walk out with an additional astromical bill and am now back to square one. He doesnt know whats wrong, and despite the progress made by the meds prescribed, he didnt prescribe them again. My advice: if you go here first, get a second opinion. Better yet, save yourself the time, money and the well being of your pet and go somewhere else.... anywhere else.

Took my dog in on a Saturday morning for a clogged gland. Vet said it was going to cost $200-$300 for a necessary surgery. He let me know he cant do the surgery until Monday. He also let me know that the gland would likely burst over the weekend, but this would not reduce the cost or need for the surgery. He then printed out a bill for nearly $200 which was for the initial visit plus meds for the surgery. I asked if that reduces my costs on Monday and he said no. That didnt make sense. Then he handed me the estimate for Mondays surgery and it totaled nearly $600 instead of $200-$300. He said thats because my dog was over 5 yrs old so they charge more. I asked what they charge for shots and they gave me an estimate of nearly $100. Since this went from a $200- $300 surgery to almost $900 for everything, I opted for a second opinion. Took my dog to Animal Crackers in West Jordan. They said surgery wasnt necessary, cleaned and dressed the gland (which did indeed burst over night), gave us all the necessary meds, AND did the shots for us. Grand total= $120. Come to your own conclusions.
