I am sad to write this review but they lost my business and my experience should be shared. I loved the staff here, I still do think theyre awesome. However, the doctor lost his patience with them on at least 2 occasions over trivial things. He seems to have a temper and thats worrisome for someone who works with animals. The wonderful staff (except the doctor and one front desk woman) is why they still get 2 stars and not one; also, maybe the doctor/hospital would be great with routine things but he wasnt what we needed during a health crisis. I first took my dog in for excessive urination; they did a urinalysis and said it was fine, just diluted, so he must have "gotten excited about water and drank too much". Since they offer a free recheck within a week and his symptoms didnt get better, we took him back six days later. Blood work said his kidneys were failing (doctors words). We did fluids for 3 days (one of which was at Pet Urgent Care in Orem), checked him again, he was on the mend but not for long. Long story short we did different blood work 3 times at A Caring Vet. They often didnt call with results, and I either called and bothered them ("the vets busy today") or I went in because I was in the neighborhood and needed his special kidney diet anyway. One of these times I had been waiting a week for a result theyd told me would take 3-4 days (when they took the blood). The front desk person was adamant they hadnt gotten the results or they would have called me, but someone actually checked and they had come in the night before. The vet came out (after crumpling up my paper and presumably yelling at his staff member) and told me he was heading into surgery so hed call me later, but my dogs results were abnormal. He didnt even call that night (he did the next night-- too little, too late), but I had already made an appointment with Advanced Veterinary Care in SLC and never went back to A Caring Vet. He totally missed my dogs issues in the first place, not suggesting advanced testing. (Im no veterinarian but I should have trusted my gut that a perfectly potty trained dog doesnt pee in the house because he simply drank too much water.) At one point I asked a tech about a simple test to rule out another issue that PUC mentioned; he later offered a longer more expensive test for the same thing but never mentioned the simpler test (which AVC did as a matter of course). He often failed to call with test results. He could be a nice person at times but I am not convinced of his capabilities as a vet. I will tell others to steer clear of this animal hospital.

I was visiting my family from out of town for the holidays when my dog scratched his eye on Christmas. The next morning I needed to take him to the vet because it was swollen and bothering him. Our regular vet was closed since it was Saturday so I went here. At first I was very impressed. The tech staff are very friendly and helpful. However, after three weeks my dogs eye is worse, the vet has no idea (by his own admission) what is going on, and I am going to have to start from square one with another vet in another state since our vacation is now over and my dog is still injured. On top of this, the vet overcharged me for our first visit (we had used their online coupon for first time visits for 15% off but they rang up the discount wrong and wouldnt fix it). Then at our free recheck we had to pay for more tests so it wasnt free, then since we had to go for a second recheck because the first two visits were ineffective, we got charged another recheck fee (for the vet to look at his eye and say yes this is worse no clue why). So we are $200 into this injury with no answers still and starting over with another vet because this one has no idea whats going on. I wish he would have said as much up front if there were an issue or question so we could have gotten this taken care of by now. Caring vet, yes but one who can help your pet not sure. Very disappointed. Would not recommend (which I feel awful saying because I love their vet techs). Maybe other people will have better luck there than we have. Lets hope. *follow up* I took Sundance to a different vet. It turned out he had a little thorn in his eye. It was rendered and healed fine. Three weeks he suffered and hundreds of dollars I paid needlessly. The other vet was appalled that after three visits the vet never realized what was going on. Gave us the wrong meds and generally had no clue what was fibbing on. Most incompetent vet I have ever dealt with. Have read several reviews where pets have died undergoing simple procedures. I shudder at what could have been and am very thankful my Sundance survived his experience at this clinic. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

A Caring Vet took great care with our dog when removing a tumor. They obviously care very much for the animals there and we felt comfortable that our dog will have a good long life now that the tumor is gone. The staff is always very helpful and Dr. Hansen is willing to take the time to answer questions and discuss treatment options. I appreciated that. My only concerns are minor. (1) more often than not we have waited a long time at each appointment before the doctor gets to us. I understand when they have to work you in that they are shifting patients around, but a few times we have made appointments and had to wait an hour before being seen by the doctor. This is difficult sometimes with pets, who are naturally very anxious about being in an unfamiliar place. (2) the doctor will recommend A LOT of extra tests and charges for things that he may feel are necessary, so do your homework. Obviously some shots are mandatory, but others are not. Some tests are just for your peace of mind. Just know that the doctor will recommend a lot of extra things and you have to be assertive and know what you want for your pet, or you will walk out with a larger bill than you ever imagined. I still feel like they are a great place and I would recommend them to other families.

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET! I wish I could rate this 0 stars instead of 1. My aunts dog ate Ant Poisoning so we took him there. They said that it was like Rat Poisoning and Rat Poisoning has fatal to dogs. We were freaking out so we showed them a picture of the brand and how much poison was in it. They ignored the percentage of poison like it didnt matter. But the worst part of the vet was that every time we asked something or they needed to know what kind of pill to prescribe the doctor went to the back to google it! I mean what kind of vet has to google everything they should have learned at school? But the doctor was nothing compared to the Office Manager, she was the one that ignored how mush poison was consumed by her dog ever though we showed her a picture of it, then when the Doctor asked her about it she said that we didnt show her the picture! After we told her that we did, she argued about it for five minutes. We asked some friends about them and they said they their experience was equally as awful. They said that when they went the Doctor had the worst temper and he was yelling at his employees and argued with them about everything. I think that all of these reviews were probably written by employees of A Caring Vet.
