After moving to the Stowe VT area I was in need of a vet for my ailing cat who is 17 years old. I called the clinic at 9am and explained to the receptionist that I needed to make an appointment to put my pet to sleep. She said that "Greg" would have to call me back and set up a time for when "no one was in the office". This was strange but I accepted it. She would not allow me to set up a time until I spoke with Greg. After waiting four hours for a call back and not receiving it I called again and asked if I should seek vet care elsewhere as this seemed to be an issue for them. I was told again "Greg" would call me back before 5:30 pm. I am losing a member of my family. This type of decision is difficult enough without having to jump through hoops from "Greg" who does not have the courtesy to call back or speak to someone without making them wait several hours. My animals can do without his kind of veterinary medicine. I agree with another post on this site that not everyone graduates at the top of their class. I think Greg is proof of that. I have since found more professional and caring vet care in my area.

I cant speak to the service inside their clinic, but I can speak to their treatment outside of the clinic and explain why I refuse to go there. Several years ago, I saw an SUV with Stowe Veterinary Clinic logos on it in Burlington near the UVM campus. The driver was clearly angry about having to stop for students who were crossing a crosswalk. The driver revved the engine and lurched forward several times towards the students. When the students were clear, the driver turned the wheels in the direction of the students and lurched towards them again. Really... how dumb do you have to be to do this? How much dumber do you have to be to do it with your company logo on your vehicle? I dont want these people touching my dog.

I called this clinic after hours due to my dog acting very strange and lethargic. I was worried that he had bloat or was having a heart attack. The answering service told me that the vet would call me within 30 minutes. An hour and half later (I know I waited too long), after not hearing anything back, I decided to take my poor pup to the emergency vet clinic in another town. While on my way there, the other slacker finally called me back. He claimed he didnt know his pager went off. Really? Youre on call and didnt hear your pager? Thats pretty responsible and professional. NOT. Needless to say, I will NOT be taking my dog anywhere near this facility, nor will I recommend it to anyone else. Pathetic.

I have been taking my two dogs and kitty to this vet for the past two years, and we have always had very positive experiences. They do not try to sell you services that you dont need, but they still lay out all the options-- we brought our dog in for a recurring limp, and the vet gave us the option to do an MRI, or just give him some anti-inflamitory pills and see what it looked like in a couple weeks... Im sure the MRI would have been much more profitable for the vet, but he was looking out for us and the pup. The only downside is that this is not cleanest facility, but after all the stuff the pets get into outside, Im not too concerned.

Dog was taken in for stitches to the tail. The Vet at this clinic stitched the tail and put a light bandage on the stitches. Knowing full well, when the wound began to itch, the dog would bite and chew the stitches. 8 days later, the tail having been chewed got infected and needed to be amputated. Beware of this Vet Clinic. Not all doctors and Vets graduated at the top of the class. Some had to be at the bottom. I think this clinic hired them. Beware !!!

Dr Goodson is bright and attentive. He was great with my dog. He gave us all the time we needed. Pleasant friendly place and reasonable pricing doing only the work needed. Regular people doing great work. Would highly recommend.
