Its certainly not the cheapest place in town but since Ive never been one to pinch pennies when it comes my pets health, Ive never minded. They have taken care of my cats since I first moved to Cville back in 97 and Im glad to have found them. Pushy? Never. They always give me all of the options, provide low- and high-end estimates, and ask before administering any treatment that I did not agree to up front. (This is a real problem at other vets, Ive discovered.) Furthermore, they follow up to make sure my cats are healing up after any procedure and answer all of my questions. Need specific examples? They caught my tabbys heart murmur early on, gave me all the options, and helped me decide on a course of treatment which added years to his life. (@Atm, you might want to look into that "minor heart murmur" before its too late.) When I needed to give medicine to all of my cats, they got me a deal on an entire bottle to save me considerable money. When one of my older cats was diagnosed with cancer, they gave him wonderful, palliative care that enabled me to keep him comfortable until the very end. And when my other elderly cat developed a growth in her nose, they offered extremely conservative treatment that didnt stress her too much. Most recently, my torbie needed teeth extracted and Old Dominion once again provided professional, caring service and excellent follow-up. Did it cost a pretty penny? Yes, and it was worth it. I wont trust my cats health to anyone else.

First, I am not a "marketing associate" hired by this vet. I have been a client for 15 years at Old Dominion, and my pets (a dozen over the years) have received excellent treatment by various vets at this practice. Keep in mind that vets have two patients: the pet and the human. It is important to find a vet with whom you connect. I think Old Dominion may not be the cheapest vet in town, altho I dont really know. Ive never felt rushed into a situation; misdiagnoses are not pleasant, but they can happen. Ive thought they were quite conservative in their treatment, that Ive been given options when they exist. They have a vet on staff who practices alternative med (acupuncture, etc) which has been beneficial for some of my pets. They give back to the community in many ways. The receptionists are hard-working and pleasant. When the time has come for a pet to be euthanized, both our companion and our family has been treated with great sensitivity.

I was very disappointed by this vet. We brought our cat in yesterday for a very simple check up because he was sneezing, and the vet brought in a long list of suggested services. They suggested we spend a minimum of $350! Our cat is only 2 1/2 years old and otherwise very healthy. I have never heard of treating a cat for worms or herpes "just in case." The vet also recommended that we visit a cardiologist in Richmond for $600 or $700 for an exam of our cats very minor heart murmur. Ive never been bombarded with such pushy sales tactics when at a vet for a very simple visit. Plus, the office visit was $55 for a simple 5 minute exam! This is the most expensive vet Ive been to. I would not recommend going here, and if you do, be sure to get a second opinion.

Despite a bump in the road, but they pulled through! First things first: great vet care - the vet herself (Dr. Chow) called me, discussed procedures, gave me a quote before doing anything... then talked me through post-care when I picked up my kitty. Very professional and caring all the way through. Hit an administrative snag when I received an inaccurate quote from the desk before coming in (likely one of those once-in-a-rare-moment all-too-human mistakes) and was surprised of an extra charge that ended up on my bill. However, I called the hospital manager the next day, she was very courteous and professional, and we got it all sorted out. Despite the bump in the road, in the end it was a solid experience.

Such a wonderful veterinary practice! My two rescue cats and first rescue dog had beautiful lives enhanced by the great care from Old Dominion, and the kindness and sensitivity when things came to the end for each was unsurpassed. Dr. Kramer gave my dog Gracie years more of vigorous life by treating her Cushings disease so carefully. Now I have a new rescue dog whose ailing eyes have been turned around by her careful diagnosis, and whose longstanding issues have all been addressed so well. She acts like a puppy now. The whole office is warm, friendly, professional, and first rate in veterinary medicine. Like a family!

I was very pleased with the care our pets received at Old Dominion. Not only did the doctor squeeze us in at 8:00 on a Saturaday morning as new patients w/ an emergency, but we were treated excellently, given all the options and financial decisions up front, didnt feel any pressure while we were there and then received a hand written thank you note in the mail! I had been going on the other side of the mountain to save a little $ by going outside Cville. But I was so pleased w/ Old Dominion and their staff I dont mind to pay the little extra for staying close to home and this friendly office environment.

Great facility, great staff, and last but not least, amazing doctors (shoutout Dr. Alison Kramer!❤️). My beloved cat, sprout was bitten by a copperhead snake. They were kindly able to squeeze us in for an emergency vet visit the same day, and have been absolutely critical in saving sprouts leg and possibly even his life. Super throrough and knowledgeable, I literally cannot say enough great things about this animal hospital and my experience here. After three total vet visits, Sprout is on the mend thanks to their diligent, loving care. If you love your pets, take them to old dominion animal hospital!

I took my senior dog here for the first time the other day. They were able to see us early, the tech and the vet were both very clear about what they were doing and my guy just loved them even though he was being poked and prodded. Even though we got bad news from them, they were thorough in explaining and showing me exactly what was wrong with my dog and explaining the best course of action and the expected outcome. They are very decently priced compared to other places that I have been. I would recommend Old Dominion to any and all of my friends.

Ive been so pleased with the care received at Old Dominion! All of the veterinarians go above and beyond, noticing the small details and asking questions to make sure they havent missed anything, even during a wellness visit. Dr. Allison Kramer was amazing when a previous dog was diagnosed with terminal cancer, checking in on the humans and the dog, offering support, and ensuring that she had a good quality of life as long as possible. The entire staff is compassionate, the facility is always clean, and they love their rescued animals!

Im moving overseas with my two cats this Fall, and ODAH has been fantastically supportive about all of the logistics involved. They are one of, if not the only, animal hospital in C-ville to offer the international health certificate service via Dr. Wood who is specially certified. Robin from the office even called me a week before my appointment to make sure I had all of the proper paperwork I needed and spent lots of time going over details on the phone, just to make sure all would go smoothly at the airport. Great experience.
