Great staff, but worst interpersonal skills of any Doctor I have ever encountered. A previous reviewer described Doctor Nelson as "rude, inconsiderate, condescending ... very dismissive of patient thoughts and concerns." I couldnt agree more with such sentiments. I have never written a review on Google and I especially thought I would never write a review on a medical professional given the personal privacy issues involved. However, Dr. Nelsons horrible demeanor deserves special notice. I arrived with my 8 year old to discuss treatment of a basic Dermatitis. It had already been seen by other doctors and nurses over the past month during medical exams for clearance to serve overseas in Africa. We were not referred to a specialist, but we had some extra time and therefore decided to meet with one, because we would be incapable of meeting with one for years. All we needed to do was to talk briefly with Dr. Nelson to review past treatment and future treatment while overseas about 1,500 miles from any competent medical professionals. Dr. Nelson wouldnt pause long enough to hear a question and once I insisted that she simply stop talking, she dismissed out of hand anything either I or any of the previous medical professionals had to say. I physically couldnt get a complete sentence out and when I could, two sentences was the limit. She must have stated she was a "specialist" over a dozen times, but she wouldnt listen long enough to receive any of the facts and made a prognosis using assumptions absent any evidence. She was condescending to the extreme and made statements about non-medical issues which demonstrated a complete ignorance of and unwillingness to understand the patients situation. She appeared not only unwilling to weigh the patients or her parents concerns, but flatly ignored any input on just about anything else. We were supposed to shut up and receive her diatribe as gospel. Seriously, this woman had the worst bedside manner of any physician or clinician I have ever met. He demeanor was so bad that I actually told her she was being extremely insulting and I flatly disagreed with her statements about things non-medical. She went so far as to say, "you shouldnt have any problem getting the necessary medications overseas" and that "you arent the first people to move to Africa, you know." Having lived all over the world for the past 30 years, I know exactly what will be available to the family, but she interrupted any attempt to present the facts and wouldnt even discuss a reasonable prescription plan for the next two years. Dr. Nelson did apologize, but she did so in such a manner that her apology was even more condescending than her original conduct. With rolling eyes, a dismissive glare towards the wall and a comment such as "I apologized, so there is nothing else I can do", it was like trying to have a conversation with a petulant, moody middle-schooler. All this happened infront of my 8 year old and my 11 year old, who immediately said upon her departure of the room: "Daddy, is that woman crazy?" Fortunately, we had a few more medical appointments that day with Physicians who restored our faith in how to best interact with patients. If this is how Dr. Nelson acts infront of children, I strongly suggest not allowing her to treat younger family members. Again, her staff, especially Erika Lopez and the front desk staff acted like consummate professionals. Unfortunately, even great staff doesnt offset having to deal with a Doctor who apparently doesnt give a damn what you have to say about just about anything and doesnt even listen to what other doctors had to say. If Dr. Nelson is as competent as she claims to be, she should consider going into laboratory or research work, because patient care is most definitely not her strong area. Worst medical professional I have ever encountered.

I had a horrible experience with doctor. I had been to her once in 2012 and didnt go back. After my last appointment with her, I remember why. Terribly rude, abrupt, and dismissive. She told me that she did not want to know what another doctor of mine wanted. She wanted to call my other doctor and suggest she switch my medications. She told me not to doctor shop and to stick with one doctor (her). I had two options: 1) walk out or 2) cry. I couldnt control the latter. Dr. Nelson hugged me and told me it would be okay. I took the hug with a grain of salt. She wanted to put me on a whole list of other medications -- cleansers, creams, antibiotics, etc. After she left the exam room, I waited a few minutes and a nurse came in with my paperwork. I took a few minutes to compose myself and left in tears. I am done with doctors that do not consider the whole person they are treating. I am done with this type of service. Update--There is no one over Dr. Nelson at her office. I sent an email through the Patient Portal via the website and just spoke with the office manager. The office manager will pass on my email on to Dr. Nelson. I told the office manager verbally that I would not be returning to the practice and that it was my right as a patient to find the doctor for me. The officer manager did apologize.

Nice office, nice staff, horrible doctor. She was very abrupt and hardly looked at me, ZERO people skills. She was in and out like a summer thunderstorm with about as much care. I had come in for two main things she only addressed one and swept out saying shed be back in a minute. Several minutes later a nurse came in with prescriptions and I had to tell her that I hadnt gotten to address the second item. She said shed send her back. While I waited, I was able to hear her addressing another patient just as curtly with as much sincerity as a goat. She comes across as someone who wants to get things done quickly, not well. When she did return she spoke to me as if I were an imbecile and while I feel like one for choosing to go there in the first place, it is not a mistake I will make again.

I want so badly to give Dr Nelson a good review but I cant. On several occasions Ive come to her office for appointments & Ive had to wait a long period of time. This last time my appointment was at 10:15 and I didnt see the doctor until 12pm! This is unacceptable! People have lives & I was on leave for a couple (2 hrs) hours & it still wasnt enough time for my appointment. On top of that I hadnt eaten any breakfast so you can imagine how hungry & annoyed I was by the time I was done! Additionally her office staff seems a little unorganized when it comes to paperwork. They should have copies of certain things but it appears they dont, which means you have to be on top of your own paperwork. I just want to finish up my treatment with her & never go back!

Nice staff- kind and friendly BUT DOCTOR Jannell Nelson- AWFUL. -Long wait time (30 minutes in waiting room, 45 in exam room) -Doctor rushes in, very little time, attention, and care given to patient (6 minutes total spent inside the exam room- for 2 patients) -Rude, inconsiderate, condescending -Very dismissive of patient thoughts and concerns -No reason for quick exam as no one else was in exam rooms or waiting area So upset with experience I: A-wrote this review & B- contacted the insurance company that referred us to her, so that they will stop putting other patients through the awful experience of seeing this doctor.
