The staff at Dr. Robert Gurneys office are some of the least capable rude people I have ever met. I read the reviews and figured that hopefully it shouldnt make much of a difference if I only go once. I was wrong. The front office refused to take any insurance information unless they had the physical card or a photocopy. A picture of the card is not good enough. The numbers are not good enough. She refused to make a very easy call to verify my information as I did not have the card in my possession. Finally after half an hour of being frustratingly hard to work with she decided that she would try alternate methods. The first method was her trying to photo copy my phone, which obviously would not work. When she was unable to perform a zoom operation on my phone she decided that physically hitting my phone screen, about as hard as you knock on a door, was the best thing to do. Unfortunately hitting my phone did not get the result she wanted. After that she had me email the picture to her and decided to print that. But her ability to understand technology does not extend that far. I spent 10 minutes watching her try to do the most simple of printing tasks while failing and blaming me and the equipment. As a computer guy I wanted to jump back and help her out, but she was not the type of nice person whom I thought would gratefully accept the help. I had my family fax a copy of my information as she kept reminding me that I would miss my appointment if I did not hurry. Thankfully my family is more helpful than she was and they got my information faxed. So my only question to you is how much is your happiness worth? Is it worth a short drive to a better office? I think it is.

Dr. Gurney is great, this review is for the reception. They are just awful. They were rude three years ago when I went, and they were rude when I tried to schedule an appointment this time around. When I called to schedule a mole exam, I explained that my new insurance doesnt cover dermatology, and thats OK with me (Id rather pay for a specialist than go to an insurance-covered GP who isnt as knowledgeable about skin cancer). The receptionist said in this angry, snarky tone, "Whats that supposed to mean?" I said, "It means I will pay out of pocket." And she shot back at me, "Why?" She was so disrespectful that I just hung up on her. Three years ago (when I had different health insurance), the same receptionist wouldnt let me come in to get stitches taken out from a mole removal because I had an unpaid balance from an appointment two weeks prior. During the prior appointment, it was planned that I would get a bill in the mail for anything that my insurance didnt cover, just like any other physicians office would. I was still turned away at the door when I needed my stitches out. It really is a shame that the staff is so terrible, because Dr. Gurney is a great guy.

Where to even start... I read all the negative reviews and they are right in line with what I experienced. Rude staff! This is the worse Dr Ive ever been to. Ive been here maybe 3 times and the level of service only got worse each time. I thought.. maybe it was just a bad day for them but I should have stopped going after the first time. The last time I didnt even get my prescription even after trying to get it from them for over 2 months. Dr visit felt rushed. He does not take his time. No blood tests or anything else to verify that the prescription should be given to you. The very first time I went in for a retinoid cream but came out with a prescription for Accutane. He never took my blood tests to ensure it was OK. No blood pressure or anything else. He didnt explain the severe side effects of this medications. The Dr visit was probably less than 5 minutes. Go to a Dr that actually cares about you and is willing to spend time to get to know you before he starts prescribing you things that shouldnt be given out.

I see a lot of reviews on here that are very negative about Dr. Gurneys office. I dont have anything bad to say about him. Ive been going to Dr. Gurney for more than a decade to treat acne and hes also performed some minor in office procedures to test for cancer, and to have a mole removed. He has always been excellent and effective in dealing with my skin issues. Hes got a no non-sense manner, and only asks the pertinent questions. If you want to bring his attention to anything besides what youre initially there for hes willing to talk about that as well. He doesnt really ask personal questions about family life or make friendly conversation but this is probably a good thing as it keeps the appointments moving along and wait times down. As for the office staff, I can see how some people might be offended by them. Theyre very no-nonsense and not particularly friendly. But Ive never had to wait too long to see Dr. Gurney, so they must be doing something right back there.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gurney for over 20 years and have taken my children to him - I love him and my children love him. He has always been correct in his diagnosis and treatment. In addition, he has referred me to other doctors in matters that he does not specialize in. Dr. Gurney has always been pleasant and has taken the time to answer and help me understand any of my questions or concerns. I would describe his office and staff as amazingly efficient - you will not wait long to get an appointment and when you get there you will not wait long to see the doctor. Linda has been there for all the years I have gone there - she has always been very pleasant. She is efficient and no nonsense and keeps that office running with fine precision. I highly recommend this practice to my family, friends and anyone.

as mentioned in quite a few reviews, the receptionist are the rudest i have ever had the displeasure of meeting. they take pride in acting nasty and obviously have become way too comfortable in getting away with their little power trip. after being told that i would have to pay in advance for my procedure, even tho they participate with my insurance BCBS, i was told that" it is better for me to pay up front, i just dont realize it yet." what the hell that means i have no idea. dont try to reason with them, it will only get worse. LIKE poking a hornet nest with a stick. the doctor seems ok, but how can you trust his judgment if he sees fit to hire this type of people and keep them? sorry dr gurney but you need to take control of your office. fire to 2 bitches up front.

I see some angry reviews here, but I can assure anyone reading this that those people are the vocal minority. Dr G has been my derm for years and helped with a acne back in my late teens and early 20s. He treats everyone with specialized care and respect, although the ladies at the desk can be a bit callous. Most of the complaints I see are in regards to billing or side effects of a medication, which have nothing to so with Gurney or his expertise. They fit you in at a moments notice and yourein and out in record time. I saw this score and felt compelled to add my two cents. Anyone that has ever taken statistics knows that self-motivated online reviews do NOT reflect the general opinon on something.
