I had four surgeries on my stomach from August 2016 through December 2016. Then in January of 2017 I was diagnosed with severe Ulcerative Colitis. I had to go to the ER at Reston Hospital Center MANY times a few months ago as my stomach was always in severe pain. I had hernias repaired, and still my stomach was hurting so badly it was debilitating. My bowels twisted and ended up having to have emergency surgery. Everyone at Reston was wonderful up until the point I had the emergency surgery for the twisted bowels. During that surgery I also had a resection done because I had an inflammatory mass across about 8 inches of my lower intestines. So after that surgery, I was still having horrible stomach pain, nausea, very bad blood in my stool, and vomiting. I had to go back to the ER there a few more times, and then they started treating me like a drug seeker, and downplaying my pain, saying it was just stress. Well the symptoms continued, and I ended up having to go to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to not only get diagnosed, but also treated with some dignity and respect. Even after I was formally diagnosed with severe Left sided Ulcerative Colitis, they still treat me like trash, and dont take me seriously. I was so dehydrated from vomiting, and because I couldnt keep anything down, and I had to beg them just to give me fluids which was ALL I wanted in the first place. Dr. Kruse took blood, gave me zofran, and was ready to discharge me after I had been bleeding from my rectum all day, throwing up, and had diahrrea over 30 times. I literally had to beg the nurse to ask if Dr. Kruse would PLEASE give me some fluids! Now, I do EVERYTHING I can to avoid this hospital! I was in the Marine Corps for 12 years and sustained a lot of injuries over the years, so I know Im broken down. But I DO NOT need someone treating me like garbage, or treating me like Im just there to scam drugs! Ive never once asked for ANY medications. I just go to the ER to find out what is causing the symptoms I present, and to get treated. Thats all. But I also expect to be treated with respect also. So I would recommend going elsewhere if you are able, and I hope this review will help someone out there! God bless, and Semper Fi. I also went to the ER about 6 different times over the summer with horrible pelvic pain. Each time they did a CT scan and X-Rays, and each time they told me that the scans came back normal and discharged me. It wasnt until I saw a specialist who requested I get all my medical records from Reston Hospital that I found out my CT scans from there WERE NOT NORMAL at all, and I actually in fact had a left sided, incarcerated, inguinal hernia. So they dont even read your imaging scans, and just discharge you without even having a clue whats wrong with you. I ended up having to have surgery on that hernia in December, two weeks after finding out that I had it since the end of July! So from July to December, I had six ER visits complaining of horrible pelvic pain, and they discharged me saying nothing was wrong. I saw a specialist after Thanksgiving who ordered a CT of his own. He also had me request all my records from my ER visits to see what they said. Each report said I had a left sided inguinal hernia, but NO DOCTOR EVER TOLD ME I HAD IT! They just said everything came back normal. Anyway, I had to have surgery on December 12th to fix it, and I am now in the process of a case of negligence against this hospital due to them not informing me that I had this hernia, which was the sole cause for my pain, and the sole reason for my being in the ER! DO NOT TRUST THOSE DOCTORS THERE!!! The nurses are WONDERFUL, but the doctors are uneducated, and extremely careless and lackadaisical.

I took my son to the Reston Hospital Center Emergency Room on Feb 2 of this year. My initial impression of the hospital was extremely positive. The volunteers, the staff--all amazing. As I waited in a hallway for him to get x-rays, I must have been passed by two dozen doctors, assistants, and nurses. Everybody--and I mean EVERYBODY--went out of their way to smile or say a kind word. It is evident that whoever is responsible for making sure everyone embraces the same culture of caring is doing an exceptional job. I was even more pleased when I met the representative from the billing office. She filled out all the paperwork for me (!), and she was one of the most personable professionals Ive ever dealt with. This hospital is truly head and shoulders above every other hospital Ive ever visited, and Ive visited hospitals in thee continents. Now this is where my review takes a u-turn. The doctor who stitched up my sons finger (Dr. Kevin Campbell) told me that my son could come back to the Reston Hospital Center Emergency Room any time in the next week to have his stitches removed for FREE. Incredulous, I asked Dr. Campbell if he was sure my son could come back to the EMERGENCY ROOM and would not be charged. He answered in the affirmative. On Feb 8, my son did just that. And the Reston Hospital Center promptly billed us for the visit! I called Reston Hospital Center and they gave me the run-around: "Sorry you were given the wrong information by YOUR doctor," they told me, as if he were someone I had found on the street and brought into the hospital myself. I then called Dr. Campbells office and was told "we didnt bill you, they did. Call them." It was then when I realized how the scam works. I got lured back into the Emergency Room for an unnecessary visit so that Reston Hospital Center could bill my insurance company (Blue Cross FEP) $1,367.25. Now Im stuck with a $125 copay when I couldve just taken my son to our primary care physician for a $10 copay. What am I going to do? Ill be in touch with my insurance company and report this as fraud. Maybe Im not the first person thats been burned by the Reston Hospital Center. Thats what Im doing. Heres what I hope the hospital and the physician do: Reston Hospital Center: Educate your staff. Dont let your staff tell patients how much they will be charged for anything. Thats the job of the billing office. And if someone in your hire does encourage a patient to avail of a service by telling them its free, stand by your staff s word and eat the money. Dont punish us if your staff doesnt know what they are talking about. You hired them, didnt you? We should be able to trust them, right? And we shouldnt have to pay for their mistakes. Dear Dr. Campbell. Sell your BWM keyring and repay me the $125 I have to cough up to cover your mistake. Im easy to find.

The worst hospital! I had delivered 3 times, the last one in Reston hospital, cause I have kaiser and its the closest one. Ive read the reviews, they were bad, but I asked my doctor she said the hospital improved. Only thankful that actually my doctor was in the hospital when I had to deliver, everything else was horrible, anesthesia guy was poking me for about an hour ( had 2 epidural anesthesias before, it took the doctor 10 min each time to perform it and was successful from first try), this guy admitted using 3 kits, keep saying that it never happened to him before, but that they should do a blood patch cause Ill have a horrible migraine after 2 days. They discharged me before doing this blood patch, I thought I didnt need it anymore, but as soon as I got home Ive got the worst migraine ( Ive never even had a strong headache before), if I was on my feet for 10 min I would throw up and I did. At about 5 am next day called my insurance nurse who scheduled for me to go see anesthesiologist to fix it as I could feed my newborn baby in a bed, and I have also a toddler to take care of. So my brother in law took me and my new born baby( as I am breastfeeding) to the hospital where in stead of 6 am I was given a blood patch at 8am. When I addressed my concerns to patient advocate of the hospital, they did investigate what happened ( not sure they did) cause I dont feel it was fare that they discharged me without doing a blood patch and I had to go back and they of course charged my insurance and me for that separately, even though Ive never had migraine with my previous epidural anesthesia. This time I was suffering while it was done to me and after and I was also charged for the hospital to fix it))) and theyve sent a letter of apology saying that when they discharged me my pain was manageable and thats why supposedly they didnt do the blood patch, but of course I was laying down the day I was in the hospital plus the anesthesia doctor said itll take 2 days for me to develop severe migraine and I stayed in the hospital a day. My baby lost weight cause my pediatrician said when your body is suffering you dont have much milk. And btw the blood patch work from morning till evening) then I stayed a week on bed rest, cause every time I get up I throw up, it was horrible not only for me but for my newborn and my toddler. Go to another hospital, even if its far! Private big rooms in Reston hospital dont worth the horrible experience that comes with it
