Ive recently moved to the Suffolk area and Ive been to two different vets... dramatic difference. The first one which I will not name right off the bat had me sign a release form/waiver from doctor treating pet (normal) however as I read it, it also stated that I release them from any potential negligence... Im sorry but if ppl make grave mistakes they need to held accountable... so starting off I was hesitant about other vets in the area... I came across this one thanks to a friend taking her cat here during an emergency and they took care of her without charging her for stuff the pet didnt need ( I was a tech so I know when vets add stuff that isnt necessary... anyways.. so I decided to bring my cat due to anurinary tract infection. The doc explained everything within my knowledge range and options about going forward with treatment and if any testing options I may or may not decide to do. Great practice. My second visit was yesterday with a newly adopted Dane. She has horrible flea allergies and has never seen a vet prior to this visit, I informed them that I plan on getting fax from mobile clinic due to pricing and they were not judgmental as other vets had been. They Gave flea meds and heartworm testing and medication as well. Theyre are never pushing and always understanding. A recommendation of AB if the shampoo and condition I was using decided not to work in the future. The vet is extremely knowledgeable and caring. She was patient with my shy girl. The techs and receptionists are always kind and sociable. They are my go to small animal vet and I would recommend them to anyone. They are knowledgeable, kind, have competitive pricing and understanding.

My 11 month old yorkie was attacked by a pit bull in my neighborhood. My regular vet was located in the city of Virginia Beach and I live in Suffolk. I had no time to waste. Luckily for me, there was a veterinary hospital minutes from my home. I ran in carrying my injured baby in my arms. All I could get out was, "can you help me". They immediately responded and not only took care of my yorkie but me as well. Everyone down from the front desk staff to the doctors were very professional and loving individuals. Ironically, I am a ICU nurse and felt powerless to the situation. But thanks to the staff, I was able to make it through the day. They updated me every step of the way and even called me at my home to check on me. My yorkie was later transported to a doggie ICU for more observation and later surgery. Even after he was home, they continued to call just to say that they were thinking of my Skylar, myself, and my husband. That kind of service is priceless. I have since decided that this would be our new veterinary home. One of my friends later told me this, "the will of God does not take you where the grace of God can not protect you". For whatever reason, that incident was the will of God working in my life. The grace of God allowed such loving and professional people to protect me and my yorkie (Skylar). I will forever be touched my these individuals. If you are looking for a place that will care for and protect your animal, look no further!!!!!

I have been going to this vet for about 4 months now and I have nothing but nice things to say about the entire staff. Every time I call the receptionists are polite and friendly. The doctors are nice as well and I feel like they really care about my dog. We just had to neuter our dog at the end of March and the vet was really sweet about the whole thing and took great care of him and called me before surgery to answer all of my questions... and there were a lot! Two days after surgery, my dog was not back to normal and I was really worried so the doctor had me bring him back in and then even called me everyday for 4 days to check on him which I thought was really above and beyond. I feel really grateful that I found such a wonderful vet.

Ive taken all of my pets here for as long as I can remember. Just this past weekend we had to put our wonderful dog, Queenie, to sleep. The staff was so caring and compassionate. I will continue to come here for all my other pets needs. True, they are a tad bit more expensive on some things, but they truly care for the pets they see and take the time to explain what they are doing and why and give you options. You cant put a price tag on that.

Tried this vet out after moving to the Suffolk area from Virginia Beach. Staff was courteous and professional, but I was unpleasantly surprised when I received my bill for just a routine vaccination visit. Prices are significantly higher than any other vet Ive been to in the area. Needless to say, I will be making the commute to my original vet in Virginia Beach to avoid Nansemonds high prices.

NVC has been caring for my Cocker Spaniel for two years now. They have always been helpful, caring, reasonable and professional. I have sinced moved 20 miles further from them, but I will continue to make the drive to ensure the best care for my pet!
