My dog is a medical alert dog. I have a super rare illness that causes me to go into anaphylactic shock for no reason, Im not allergic to anything, it just happens, and it happens very very fast. Tucker is my ONLY defense to it as he can sense when its going to happen, and he warns me by bringing me my epipen and steroid injections. He is literally the only reason Im alive today. But more then that, hes my baby. This guy means more to me then I can ever find words for, and not only would I not be here without him, I wouldnt want to be. I have pretty intense depression and Tucker is the only reason I get out of bed and face the day. To put it bluntly, I made him a promise that as long as he was still living I would do everything I could to make sure I was too, but the day he goes, I will go with him. No hesitation, and as quickly as possible. Im telling you this in a feeble attempt to convey how much Tucker means to me, so you can understand that I may be a difficult parent of the patient. I ask a lot of questions. Im very concerned about medications, chemicals, and I know Tucker very well, so I know when hes not himself. I own it that I can be annoying, but the staff here couldnt have handled it worse. The vet couldnt answer any of my questions about negative reactions, or statistics in saftey for getting rid of flea (my baby got FLEAS?!? I was in a panic) But more then that she didnt even attempt to hide her annoyance at the fact that I was even asking questions, like she very much expected me to dump chemicals all over my dog without so much as blinking as she was so above the fact that I wanted to know the risks, if there was a way to undo the treatment if he had a reaction, where the nearest 24/7 emergency vet was (she told me the receptionist could give me that information) and the more questions I had, the worse it got, ending with her failed attempt to hide her rolling her eyes as she left the room several times, and audiable huffs of exasperation. Because I hadnt just come for the fleas, Id moved and needed Tuckers regular medication refilled, as well as some shots. (The vet once again couldnt contain her irritation at my request to sit in the waiting room for 30-45 minutes after my appointment to make sure he didnt react to the vaccines, as he had a reaction to one once before) Also, I bring him everywhere I go and he has TERRIBLE car anxiety, not to mention separation anxiety, acid reflux, and intense seasonal skin allergies. She didnt want to refill his medications that I gave him for long car rides, she wanted to put him on a daily medication, like doggy Prozac, and couldnt for the life of herself seem to understand why I couldnt risk it potentially making him cloudy and messing with his head and not being able to sense me getting sick. She did eventually refill it, along with his skin mess, but I left there in tears. I really probably shouldnt be writing this since although Ive met with several other vets, Ive yet to find a new one and I have to go back here for him, and I wouldnt be surprised if they accidentally gave him the wrong booster vaccine, or treated him badly, or fought me on staying in the room. The exception being the girl at the front desk who was wonderful and kind and patient and did her best to undo my bad day, by jumping on google and finding everything she could as far as side effects, testing phases, customer complaints and statistics on everything Id been given, and coming out to hug me and hand me some tissues. Id give her 5 stars. If youre not looking for a vet you can develop a solid relationship with and just need someone to do the bare minimal and rush you out (some people sadly are fine with this) then this is your vet. If youre pet is like a four legged child to you and you need to feel safe and that they love animals with a passion, trust me, there is no passion, or compassion, or love in this building.

We have been taking our dogs to Suffolk Animal Hospital since 2000. Pets are family, and you want them to have the best care possible. You can tell from the minute you walk into Suffolk Animal Hospital that they really care about and love pets. The door greeter is a beautiful cockatiel named Angel. The staff is very friendly. The examination rooms are bright and vibrant. Everything about the place speaks volumes about the love they have for their patients. Being from pet families themselves, rest assured the staff will take the best possible care of your family members and treat and care for them as if they were their own. My wife and I adopted an abandoned chihuahua that is approximately 7-8 years old. You could tell Chloe needed help. She had horrible breath and was constantly licking into the air because of the putrid taste in her mouth. Her mouth was infected and her teeth were so rotted they were either falling out or loose. We were nervous about Chloe undergoing anesthesia to have her teeth extracted because of her age but we knew she couldnt go on living like this. She came through with flying colors. About 2 months later we decided to have her spayed. Again, Chloe had to go under for the operation and although we were still a little nervous, we felt a little less apprehensive this time because we knew she was in good hands. Once again, Chloe came through with flying colors. Dr. Ray said she was in the early stage of pyometra, so not only did Suffolk Animal Hospital do an excellent job with the surgery, they literally may have saved her life. Chloe recovered quickly. She is now healthier and happier than ever because of the superb care she received at Suffolk Animal Hospital. For that we thank you.

Cricket, my champion female standard poodle had suffered with an ear infection in both ears for over two years. Tried this, tried that, nothing worked. Dr. Carr took a sample, sent it off to IDEXX labs and the ear infection is gone. Dr. Carr and her staff are very kindly and listen to what you say and let you explain what you want. They take the time and not just allow you 10 min and hurry you along. Dr. Carr comes and talks to you and listens to you herself. She does not run in, touch the dog and go and you never see her again. Then a bill is presented for the same amount as your house payment. Dr. Carr and her staff at Suffolk Animal hospital really care about your feelings and your fears and frustration. It is like they are being a doctor for you as well as for your pet.

Having been to a few veterinarians in a few different states I can honestly say that I was a bit concerned when we made the decision to take the pet that adopted us to the Suffolk Animal Hospital. WoW, were we pleasantly surprised when we were treated like family, e.g.; they acted and reacted as if they had know us for years, just like we were old friends. They were also very good with Kitty-Katt when they examined him and then operated on him. He was home with us in less than 24 hours, acting almost like nothing had ever happened. We highly recommend Suffolk Animal Hospital to all of our friends and family.
