First of all, this vet had a ethical and moral obligation to see to it that this hard time was as painless for our loved one as it was for us having to make a decision that is hard for anybody to make and he totally failed all of us and he has broken up a family and caused me unyielding torment and sadness. I brought my precious Italian Greyhound, Emma, to this clinic for euthanasia. I mistakenly let my mom make all of the arrangements and just trusted that she found a good place that would take good care of our poor dog, I mean thats what they are supposed to do, right? My Emma was already suffering from kidney failure and a lot of pain and she was very scared and already distressed. What happened was this vet came in with a huge needle and explained some of the possible side effects. I didnt know there was any other way of doing this and I will always blame myself and my mother. So then he proceeds to tie a cinch around her tiny arm, she yelps, again already in pain and scared, he loosens it a little, and then shaves it, all while shes aware and already starting to struggle, at this point Im all falling to pieces and as she starts to cry, he calls to the tech and I run from the room and then, I cant see, just hear her crying and I guess then he jabbed the needle into her arm killing her while she cried out in pain from a needle that was almost as big as her tiny arm. How is this peaceful for us or out sick and dying Emma? I trusted this process and that she was in good hands, but this man just wanted to get it over with. It was never even brought up that perhaps she needs to be relaxed...why wasnt a sedative offered to her? All of the other clinics I called said they would have offered if she were so scared and struggling. She was wrestled and terrorized to death and I blame myself and my mom mostly, but how can this professional just do that to a sick and dying dog that is already scared. I cant even sleep from the guilt at this point. When I called him, mind you he kept referring to the dog as a "he", just another dog to put down, but she had a name and it was Emma and he wouldnt talk to me about why a sedative wasnt used. My mon said she is going to look into when getting the ashes, but I feel like my dog was put down in the most inhumane way possible. I dont know what to do, but she was tortured by this man and had I known , I would have taken her elsewhere or asked for her to go to sleep first, or something. I will never forgive myself. Dont take your animals here. This, for my Emma, was the epitome of brutality and cruelty and it all happened so fast and I cant help Emma anymore and I just pray she knows that is not how I meant for her to have to leave this world. This is going to not be something that this clinic gets away with, but that will never take back my poor little girls final moments of terror and pain. I just hope he never does this to anybody else. This was a time when the most care should have been taken.

We are dog lovers and have 3 dogs. Today my lab/rhodesian mix, fondly referred to "garbage gut" seemed lethargic and did not want to eat. (very unusual) we think she ate some worm bin food and raisins which are toxic to dogs from a pail we keep to feed our worm bins. We rushed her in to Westgate because our regular vet Dr. Decent was not available. They took labs, gave her pain killers and meds and we were allowed to treat her at home. The office call was only $38.00. She has severe gastoenteritis...so we have to give her a special diet and pedialyte to make sure her tummy heals and she does not get ill from lack of fluids. She now is eating and drinking and probably will be okay. The staff was very kind and informative and the charges were not excessive. We would recommend this clinic. We use organic food and more natural treatments and they were open to that as well. We will probably go back to Dr. Decent in Lakewood because he is our regular vet...but Westgate is great and a good back up. Hopefully "garbage gut" will be back to normal...and no grapes, raisins, onions, garlic and chocolate for dogs...(or moldy compost) these are toxic to dogs.

No nonsense experienced veterinary care. This place is affordable because the vet is experienced and smart enough to make diagnoses without dozens of expensive tests. He knows what he is doing and offers sensible solutions. I have been bring pets to Dr. Walia since 2001. Over the years I have brought in four dogs and three cats. My last, very old, dog ended his days peacefully, in the back of my truck in the parking lot of his other clinic. This was better than stressing him inside the clinic during his last minutes. Dr. Walia gave me a good price for the repair of my large dogs ACL (knee) and the dog recovered well. My animals are always happy to return to him. Some people judge the vet by how he treats them. Dr. Walia is no nonsense and gets the job done. He is courteous towards me. Other posts may complain, but I have had different pets in for several surgeries and all have gone well. My dogs are always eager to visit his clinic.

This Dr does know animals. He does not however understand pet owners and their limited funds. My kitties needed an exam and antibotis. We would have to wait on everything else. He said if I didnt bring them back for shots he refused to see them or us again. He threatens to call the humane society . And claimed we refused other services and suggestions. We just wanted to get them over pneumonia for now. He even blamed us for them getting it. It was a fiasco. Made me physically ill.

I am a first time pet owner, and decided to bring my new puppy to westgate animal hospital based on a couple friends of mine having exceptional experiences with the doctor and his staff in the past. They were right! The lady at the front desk even helped me choose a flea medication that was right for my pup. Dr. Walia is a very nice guy and will tell you exactly what your animal needs. There was even an office cat at the door to greet us! We will definitely be back.

I love this vet. My pets come first. I have been going there for about 2 years now. All I have seen there is caring and straight up good care for my animals. I had one of my yorkies fall and break her little leg. The vet had me bring her right in and did her surgery right away. When I just called I did not have to even say my name. I said Hi this is Kais mommy and I need to bring her in today. They knew who I was and made my appt. Love the staff there

They dont remember my animals, they dont remember which particular needle and syringe my dog needs, they dont keep my dogs medication in stock, and if you happen to want to purchase a product when only the veterinarian is there, he doesnt know the prices of the products so he overcharges you and maybe youll get a credit on your next purchase. Its a frustrating experience and not cheap either.
