Ann Vetter is not remotely competent when it comes to dealing with cats. If you value your cats well being, stay far far away! I brought my cat here for a ruptured anal gland and I wish I could give this place negative stars. I have never in my life encountered such a horrible vet. Ann Vetter was incredibly uncompassionate, belligerent when discussing things I did not want performed, very unprofessional and in the end, down right incompetent causing my cat more pain, fear and general trauma. My cat is terrified of the outdoors, hates cars and being in a carrier. She doesnt like strangers in the best of times so naturally, when you add sick and in loads of pain to all that you have an animal that is going to be quite hostile. I told the staff flat out, my cat has all her claws, shes scared and she will attack if youre not careful. The vet ignored my warning, and just grabbed my cat without taking any precautions (like having an assistant firmly hold kitty while she did her prodding). She was quickly put in her place for being so stupid. Any pity I felt for her scratches evaporated when she muttered "thats just great" while storming off and slamming the exam room door behind her. Her behavior completely terrified my cat. She was so scared she was pressed against me trembling. The whole thing was a major warning sign to me so I got kitty calmed down and back in her carrier, figuring if the vet wasnt apologetic and as sweet as pie when she came back wed leave. When the vet came back, she was far from sorry. Instead, she started giving me the third degree about my cat not being spayed. I was taken aback by her aggression and the tangent from my cats problem. Shes an indoor only cat, with zero interest in the outdoors and besides the rare butt problem is very healthy. I believe spaying to be cruel and unnecessary in this situation and told her so. She became increasingly hostile and aggressive about it, tried insisting that my cats problem could be do to cancer or a UI infection, (despite the incredibility obvious gland rupture) until I finally told her if this is a real problem for you Ill go elsewhere. She continued trying to argue with me at which point I had enough and realized I neither trusted nor respected this woman as either a vet or a human being, and didnt want her anywhere near my cat. I left and went to the emergency vet on Broadway instead. They were as awesome as Ann was vile. Im left wondering if she thought she could somehow guilt-trip or bully me into paying for additional unnecessary services. She was certainly using all the tactics...In any case, I am Never going back and I strongly discourage everyone from getting services here.

i want to let everyone know about the excellent experiences we have had with dr. ann vetter and the east towne pet clinic. dr. vetter is straightforward, and very direct about her assessments, but that is what i want in a vet. she is also very gentle and loving with our pets (even our animals with some less-than-lovable social skills!) and she shows a real passion for animal health and welfare as well as patience and compassion for animals in pain, experiencing fear and anxiety, and animals in discomfort. i have found her to be extremely knowledgeable and experienced with all kinds of animals (she has taken excellent care of our chickens as well as our dogs!) and i feel like we are getting the best care for our animals with her and at her clinic. she has even gone so far as to make a house visit to care for one of our hens after a hawk attack, and she was gentle, considerate, and competent. she helped us to prevent an infection and helped to save our hens eye (and little life!) and helped us figure out how to reintroduce her to the flock. dr. vetter has helped us with a variety of health and behavioral issues associated with our rescue dogs and her advice and support has been invaluable. in fact, i feel strongly that we have been able to manage a lot of our dogs issues successfully in large part due to her ongoing support and solid information and advice. there have been times that dr. vetter had suggestions for how we could get better behavior from our animals or ways to improve the care we take of our animals. but she is always gentle, understanding, and considerate when she offers us her professional advice, and these suggestions have always been in response to our request for her best assessment of our situation. i have very much appreciated the fact that dr. vetter is willing to share her opinions and experiences with me and i am positive that our pets have benefited from dr. vetters expertise. when we adopted our dogs we were novice dog owners and we werent familiar with general dog health, behavior, and care. this was also the case when we decided to become backyard chicken keepers. dr. vetter helped us every step of the way without being judgmental or pushy. i feel like we have been able to develop a real and very respectful partnership with dr. vetter and it brings us a lot of comfort to know that we have her expertise and support as we continue to care for our beloved rescue pups and our cat and our chickens. i cannot recommend dr. vetter and the east towne pet clinic enough. we have been extremely happy with the care we have received from dr. vetter and we have a lot of happy and healthy pets to show for her care!

@Sciamhach Im not sure what happened to you but Ive been a client at ETPC for the past 4 years. They have always been "sweet as pie" to me and I have a tortipoint siamese that can be extremely aggressive due to trauma prior to her rescue (she was brought into my life by SPPD and eventually the DCHS). My cat has claustrophobia and a fear of restraints such as scruffing so she goes ballistic at the drop of a hat in a veterinary setting. Dr. Vetter has been amazing with her and even managed to draw blood without any significant problems. Further, I can tell you from having worked in animal control and at the DCHS, plus having several pets that have all gone to various vets, I will never take my cats to any other vet unless I move out of the county. ETPC is the first vet Ive had who offers great rates, outstanding service, extreme sensitivity to the special needs of all of my pets, flexibility with my hectic lifes schedule, and some of the most wonderful boarding services in the area. And trust me, I shop around!! Spaying reduces the risk of certain cancers and can significantly increase the quality of life and longevity of felines. I highly suggest it. Also, having an assistant firmly restrain the cat may not be a good idea if a cat is already hostile or terrified as it can increase the emotion and reaction. As someone who worked with many dangerous animals and as someone who has seen her work my own cat, I am qualified to tell you that it sounds like she did exactly what she should have done but sometimes reactions end up being less predictable than we hope. Shes a wonderfully sweet person and an awesome veterinarian. Im sorry you feel your experience was so terrible but I suggest that you do not discourage others from giving her a chance since she has done a lot more to help the animal community than you could possibly have seen in your very limited experience.
