I recently visited the CityMD facility on 4th Ave and 87th Street, in Brooklyn, like I have on many occasions. I never had a problem but on this particular visit my son, Matthews insurance had lapse and there was a break in between, so the insurance they had on record was not working. I mentioned the new insurance would not start till July so I would have to pay for this visit. She mentioned that there would be a $125. Copay plus an extra fee per testing, if I needed any. I said it was fine. The receptionist repeated four more times that the fee is $125 to which I replied the fee was fine, four more times back! I asked her if she would like me to pay now or after I see the doctor? She said after. She proceeded to repeat the fee again! At this point I felt embarrassed because I wasnt sure what she was implying. What was important here was that my child, Matthew be seen by a doctor. The cost of the visit did not matter plus I had already stated that I was fine with paying the fee and/or fees. I went to sit down because I was getting now where. I told her that she can figure out if she wanted me to pay now or later. Another receptionist, a man, rudely yelled at me from across the room, saying again that I did not have insurance and the fee would be $125, again I said I know all that, I was the one who told the girl from the beginning about the issue with the insurance and I was perfectly fine with paying the fee! What were they looking for? I wasnt sure! Would they like me to pay now? I asked again?! He told me not to yell at him and a manager came from the back, they had another 10 min meeting discussing me in third party form as I stood in ear shot of them. I asked again if there was a problem. The manager then came over to me and repeated all that was stated to me by both receptionist! I repeated I was fine, again with paying the fee. I stated that I was not making an issue about the fee but his staff was! At this point I was very frustrated and confused by all the drama. I decided to take my son to another place where we would be treated like decent human beings and not aliens! Not to mention that all this happened while my poor child was crying! I truly felt so attack by the staff of CityMD for no good reason. Both receptionist and their manager lacked manners. They were more concerned with a fee verses the welfare of my child. Shame on them! No one should have to go through such an ordeal just to get good service. I felt insulted by what they were implying! It was very humiliating for them to loudly yell at me in front of other people and make a spectacle out of such a small detail. I even offered to show them that I was ready with my debit card to pay to which they advised me that you pay after the visit so I was so confused by what the issue could be? I will not be using them again! The staff at this location needs to take a customer service class on how to be respectful and courtesy towards people situations and not assume that everyone cant pay there bill. I did wind up taking my son to a local doctors office instead, Dr. Juan Cortes and guess what? the fee wasnt nearly as much :) Dr. Cortes and his staff were accommodating, friendly and pleasant, not to mention professional unlike the ghetto experience I just went through at CityMD. Dr. Cortes treated my son, he was caring and attentive to Matthew. He was a concerned doctor, so was his staff, he took his time checking Matthew. Thank God! And, thanks to Dr. Cortes and his staff, Matthew is already on his way to feeling better :) Service like this is worth every penny! Goes to show you small business is in

On Friday May 12 I was feeling very short of breath and had some pressure on my left side. My arms also had bruises. I thought the shortness of breath was due to allergy and hoped to get an inhaler or allergy medication. Dr. Volssen ordered an EKG and X-Ray. I was not having a heart attack and was not wheezing. The X-Ray showed something at the base of each lung, possibly fluid. Sitting in the medical office my breathing became less labored and I started to feel better. Dr. Volssen suggested I go to the ER. I did not want to go. He spoke calmly stressing that I needed to go to the ER even if I felt better. So I went to the Methodist Hospital ER where a I learned I had Pulmonary Embolisms in both lungs. Five stars isnt enough for this review. Dr. Volssen saved my life.

I went there last week on Thursday and everyone was super nice. Specifically, Claudia and Aidi were the two medical assistants that were working that night. They were beyond helpful and supportive. It was not the usual experience one would expect from an urgent care medical office so I definitely appreciate that they helped ease the situation.

Pros: - Great front end staff & easy sign in. - PAs take vitals. - Knowledgeable and caring doctors. - 10 minute flu testing. - Clean and modern environment. Cons: - With my insurance (united healthcare) the copay is 75 bucks for me, because its urgent care. - It was cold in the room but that can also be cause I had a fever.

Very professional yet friendly and cheerful. This was the second visit with family member, and will continue to return as needed. Was warned up front that time to see doctor was about an hour, and one hour on the nose the doctor walked in. Delay hardly noticed since staff was getting vitals and history.
