Please be very careful trusting these people with your eyes. From my first visit I felt uneasy, the staff was very inattentive and practiced as if things needed to be rushed. Not sure if they took me for granted because I was a new patient but their Russian patients obviously get priority in this office. One of the medical assistants made a smart remark about the "difficulty" of my name, which confused me because she had a Russian name which would be just as difficult to pronounce to someone not of that origin. I came in for a simple Chalazion treatment and the misinformed doctor (Giyuar) told me I could not receive the simple steroid injections because I was dark skinned and the pigment of the serum may discolor my eyelid. WRONG! She told me that I would have to get it surgically removed so I returned two days later to have the procedure done. She began the procedure without washing her hands, and upon completion she injected my eyelid from the outside to attempt to remove anything left inside. Another doctor told me this should not have been done and if she did she shouldve used a smaller needle. That single outside injection left a scar on my eyelid leaving a permanent bump where the chalazion used to be. I have called the office over 20 times after and it is impossible to speak to the doctor. Its always receptionists who dont have the answer to your questions but they will "inform the doctor of your worries and get back to you". Its a long game of Q&A phone tag without the answers. My chalazion was supposed to be taken to the lab to be tested but I was never given the lab results. I went to another doctor and after short two visit and two steroid injections my chalazion was gone. Its a shame I didnt go to him first. He told me Dr.Julia Giyuar did a pretty bad job and didnt remove much of the sac or any of it at that. My eye was the same size before and after her "surgery". This occurred right before thanksgiving and to this day I have still been unable to speak to her after a copious amount of phone calls and messages I have left for her. Please take you business elsewhere!!!! As a third year nursing student I know what good medical care is and it wont be found here.

I had an AMAZING experience w/ this doctor and this procedure. After 15 years of struggling with contact lenses and red eyes I finally decided to try Lasik. Dr. Giyaur (and her staff) are warm, knowledgeable, and have many years of experience w/ Lasik. One thing thats great about this practice is that Dr. Giyaur sees patients before/after AND she also personally performs the procedure (I think at some places you might be dealing w/ different people). I was nervous to do this because-- its my eyes! But the whole thing was kind of a miracle. The procedure was painless & very quick. My recovery was VERY quick-- I was basically back to normal the day after the Lasik-- and I could SEE! I didnt experienced the temporary dryness some folks experience at all. My eyes are much clearer (whiter) than they were before. I used to put up w/ so much irritation w/ contacts, not to mention the hassle of re-stocking them, and worst of all, people thinking I was tired when I wasnt. I wish I had had Lasik YEARS ago but I do think the technology has advanced & great doctors like Julia Giyaur have made it a really effortless procedure. THANK YOU!

Dr. Julia Giyaur get’s a serious two thumbs up! Pleasant and professional staff! Doctor Giyaur was friendly and very informative. My exam was thorough, and I learned some new information about my eyes that never had been brought up before with previous doctors. She answered all of my questions sufficiently. Really appreciate the time and patience. I waited about 15-20 minutes, but it was worth it! Few weeks later I had my LASIK done, and I still can’t believe that I can see so clearly for the first time in my life! I always had astigmatism and never was happy with my glasses. She made me feel so comfortable during my surgery!!!! Dr. Julia has fantastic sense of humor, knowledge in her field, and passion for her patients. Highly recommend her!

Primarily I go to an ophthalmologist to monitor my potential retinopathy brought on by Type 2 diabetes. The Doctor is within walking distance from my home which is really easy since the dilation drops make vision blurry for a while. Dr. Giyaur is very thorough and has all the diagnostic equipment required directly in the office to check any conditions she suspects. Her bedside manner is gentle and softspoken. Her support staff is well trained and courteous from the medical assistants to the front desk administration folks. I recommend her 100% for any eye-care needs. I can only review on my normal eye-care conditions since I do not need any laser or surgery.

I had a very bad experience. My appointment was at 2:30 pm. I came at 2:15 pm, signed in, and paid my co-payment to the receptionist. After waiting for an hour, I was informed that I have to wait another 40 minutes to see a medical assistant before I can see a doctor. The patients who was coming after me were being processed while my presence was ignored. After I approached the reception personal again, they were very rude and disrespectful. The office run very unprofessionally and ignorant toward the patients. After waiting one and the half hour I left the office without seeing the doctor.

made an appointment to see Dr. Giyaur two and a half weeks ago. Left work early to make my 4:30 appointment. when got there was told that I have an appointment with Dr. Kimchenko I think, never heard of her. Asked to speak to the manager, the manager not in so many words basically told me that I was a liar and that shes going to stand by her girls. Shes welcome to to that. I will never step my foot in that office again. Im sure Dr. Giyaur is a good doctor but i will never find out. The staff is very rude, not proffessional and makes the doctor look very bad.

Dr. Julia Giyaur is the best ophthalmologist I have visited for the period of about 20 years. She paid attention to all my questions and complaints, and spent a lot of time to explain my eyes condition, multiple tests results, and her recommendations. Doctor even added information on how New York weather, our lifestyle and age influence eyes health. Dr. Giyaur is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The office staff is polite, prompt, and professional.
