Gynecology: Providers are wonderful- Especially Peggy Smith NP. Front desk is horrendous and should be fired. 2013 – Wait over an hour in the waiting room, then wait 30 minutes in the exam room. Receptionists were rude the entire time. Then to top it off they accidentally charged me $150 instead of $15 for my copay; getting the money back was a run-around in which the receptionists continued to act like animals. 2015 – Go to check in, receptionist takes phone call in the middle of me standing there (without saying excuse me & there are 2-3 other receptionists sitting there). While still on the phone receptionist says “you can have a seat I will check you in”. 50 minutes goes by, a nurse from the back comes out and points at me, I then pointed at the clock and stated “I had a 10:45 appt”; the nurse said “sorry we will call you next”. Another 10 minutes goes by, another patient gets called in before me. Finally, once in the exam room nurse states “I am so sorry, they FORGOT to check you in”. To which I replied “well that’s okay because I will NEVER be coming back here again.” Going to this practice is only worth it if you have an entire day to watch people who arrived after you be called in before you. And you like to get treated like garbage by the chatty receptionists. I would like to qualify this review by stating that I am a Registered Nurse who understands the pressures of the healthcare system; I am an informed consumer and not someone who complains for no reason.

Mr Dr. and his staff moved to this facility in January. They are the best of the best! I would have never believed any of these reviews until my Dr. moved to this facility . I have been trying to get a prescription by calling the front desk 3 days in a row and they advised they will call back. No return calls. After third day we went to pharmacy to pick up prescription which was not approved by insurance company. $650.00 for tube and we are still waiting for insurance company to be contacted for approval. I have been trying to fax for 3 days with a no answer lines are busy; front desk tells me they get faxes all day. (so do other major corps, and I get through) I called for a semi emergency appt on Thursday, was told by front desk they will call back: never called back Thursday or Friday - closed Saturday. I went to HMG a few times for gynecology. I paid my copay in cash. Then, each visit, I waited an hour to be brought back to a room. They had me undress and put on a robe. Then I sat for another 45 min waiting for the gynecologist. The gynecologist, herself, isnt bad. Then 2 weeks later, i get a bill for my copay again and again. Of course, i lost my receipt. Then, my partner makes an appointment with the pulmonologist. The billing or insurance department calls and makes a long drawn out conversation, so my partner just cancels the appointment. Now they have been sending us a bill for the cancellation fee. I called to explain that he had cancelled, but they sent the bill to collections anyway. My experience with the ophthamologist there was the only decent experience I have had there.

Do not go to HMG especially to their internal medicine. Dr. Wishner treats this place like a meat hanger. Before he sees you he already has your prescription written up. If he takes 45 seconds to examine you, he has already spend too much. Your complaint to the administration goes nowhere. All they care about is grabbing your money. They are vicious. Worse than all are the nurses and the staff. They cannot even write well. I asked for a letter to describe my medical condition and they wrote a two sentence letter with four misspelling. This is a very bad place to receive medical attention. Before you do go there please read the reviews written about HMG.

I was way over charged for visits/tests my insurance covers because they purposely used different lab codes that werent recognized TAKE NOTE: If they ask you if you have any concerns during a routine check up and you say yes, they can charge you for a non-routine visit and they wont tell you this until you get a bill from them. I didnt appreciate how sneaky they were about billing. A visit that should have been free turned into a $250 visit

It used to be a great place. Reliable, fast and conviniant but now its horrible. Regardless of what time your appointment is be prepared to wait for an hour Before being called in and another hour between bring seen and discharged. Its such a disappointment, it used to be a hidden gem now its no diffrent from any big place in a big city.

I give them a 0 since being taken over by NYU. When making an appointment, the gestapo lady behind the desk asked me for my SS#, not required, and my religion, not required. This place is run by the Nazis now. And, there were 5 people within a foot of earshot who could have listened to my response!
