We can’t possibly be more happy to call the Center for Veterinary Care and their staff our “go to” animal care family! We found Dr. Schwartz, Dr. Roellke, and their amazing team when we adopted our Trevor [Labradane] about 6 ½ years ago when he was 6 months old. At the age of 2, Trevor developed a limp, which we suspected might be Lyme disease, given the positive test at that time. Following treatment, Trevor rapidly resumed the limp and Dr. Schwartz, knew immediately, as if by instinct, that his limp was far more than a case of Lyme disease. Following a variety of nearly inconclusive tests and a consultation with his peers specializing in this area of work, Dr. Schwartz advised us that he suspected osteosarcoma in the “wrist” of the front leg on our then 140-pound puppy! Our agonizing decision toward amputation was based on inconclusive tests, but with the opinion of a highly-respected, outstanding medical team whom we trusted and who absolutely loved our dog – which was evident from the moment we visited the offices in Millbrook for the first time. A successful surgery, followed by one swallowed rubber duckie and one swallowed golf ball, each of which was expelled orally during the months to follow, all turned out to buy us what is now another 5 years with our big, happy, well-adjusted boy! Now weighing 100 lbs. and turning 7 years old in February 2014, he is also a delightful Therapy Dog. We can’t be more appreciative of the care that our pets receive at the Center for Veterinary Care in Millbrook. Nothing but praises for these wonderful doctors and their entire team and facilities. Thank you all. Love, Debbie, Kim, Trevor, Simba, and our newest adoptee, Lacey!

Our Lab Sadie came to Dr Paul Schwartz in some extremis. Six months earlier, a vet in Washington, DC cut a large lipoma from her chest. Post-op tough. She chafed at tight bandages, eventually chewed off despite usual lampshade. Six months later, the lipoma was growing back, soon got bigger than ever. The vet acknowledged he was unable to cut as aggressively as the growth demanded, referred us to surgery practice in VA, where we got diagnosis, estimate. Just then we were due back in Millbrook, found Dr Schwartz, whose estimate was almost a thousand dollars less...and his post-op regimen much different. Even though his incision had to be longer, wider and deeper, he did not wrap her in bandages, prescribing T-shirts and close attention instead. Even though Sadies second surgery was more drastic, she healed much faster, and as she did, we could see how deftly he had stitched her. Sadie says she wants to give him five stars.

When my horse developed an 80% tear of her deep digital flexor tendon, I knew it could have been the end of us. Dr. Frederick and his team were so prompt, so available and so supportive it helped us both physically and emotionally through a difficult and frightening time. I felt he had genuine affection for my horse, and Dr. Frederick gave me access to him for any questions I had, at any time. When he came to the barn for other patients, Dr. Frederick would never fail to ask how Cheyenne was doing and sometimes went out the check for himself. Less than two years later, Chey and I entered our very first horse show, did five events, and took home six ribbons, including reserve champion! Hows that for a success story?

Over the past year I have used the Center to examine and treat three of my animals: one elderly lab, one elderly cat and one very healthy and energetic yellow lab. Each of the circumstances have been different. I have found the Center to be responsive to the needs of my pets and to be respectful of my need to know just what they are seeing in the examination, what my options are for treatment and very patient with respect to my many questions and suggestions. Over the past 20 years I used the same veterinarian in the Millbrook area. Forced to change practices I was not expecting the same quality of care. Surprise! I got it. Thank you Center for Veterinary Care. I only wish they treated fowl and sheep as well.

Our cat Cosmo, at 6 months was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and was not expected to live much longer. Through the efforts of Dr. Roellke and staff, he lived another 3 years. The equipment at this animal hospital is top notch, especially the echocardiogram machine, which kept an eye of Cosmos condition so we could adjust his medication. Dr. Roellke went above and beyond in calling pharmacies regarding his medication and the correct dosage for a cat, since this was meds for humans. When the end came, they were compassionate and caring, and felt our pain. Dr. Roellke and the rest of the staff are simply wonderful. I will bring all future pets to this excellent animal hospital.

We recently moved here from out of state and were referred to Millbrook Veterinary by a friend. We are very happy with the care and concern for our "special needs" dog and with the quick response to our concerns for our dogs issues by the staff there. Dr. Schwartz has quickly addressed our concerns with thorough investigation and follow up to our dogs symptoms. We are overall very grateful to find such excellent care for our pet and would highly recommend Millbrook Center for Veterinary Care.

I moved to Millbrook in October with two black labs. From the beginning I knew we were in excellent hands. Dr. Roellke is thorough, gentle, caring, so willing to answer questions, resulting in the best pet care possible. One lab is completely blind and with Dr. Roellkes help we were guided in a direction that may mean sight for this great boy. Hope is the word. Thank you!

Dr. Schwartz is hands down the best vet I have ever used. He really knows his stuff and cares about my boy and it shows. Dr. Roellke is also one great vet. The staff is always friendly, helpful and always gets me in when i need to get in....best place around.
