Our child was born at nyack hospital Friday 1/21. He was evaluated by one of their pediatricians and deemed to be a perfectly healthy child with no defects. On Monday 1/24, the day we were scheduled to leave, a different pediatrician entered our room at 6 am to inform us that our son has a partial cleft palate. They MISSED this on the first exam and caught it during the discharge exam. I complained to various nurses and staff for THREE days that my son sounded weird when sucking on a bottle, only to be told by nurses and nursery staff that it was "normal." It was heartbreaking and appalling that these people missed the small hole in my sons soft palate. Other pediatricians the hospital sent into the room after I began loudly complaining informed me that it could be easy to miss such a small hole if the child had his tongue up while they were checking his mouth. A simple finger placed inside the childs mouth to gauge suction power would have immediately alerted them to a potential issue. It does not seem that the pediatrician performed this simple, standard exam to gauge for a cleft palate. The moral of this story is that if you think something is wrong with your child, you are probably right. Be persistent, especially at this hospital, and MAKE them convince you that you are wrong by running tests. My wife and I were beside ourselves with grief upon realizing that we would have to subject our child to surgery after being told that he was "perfect." I shutter to think what else they may have missed with other patients.

I was there 2 days ago for a small procedure the nurses and docs were very nice but to nice. "It was to good to be true" after 12 hours being in the ER i finally got my discharge papers and left the room with my wife who is 9 months pregnant and my brother who came to visit me. So we walked down the hallway waving good bye for the the "nice nurse" who was chating with other nurse she replied with a blink and did a favor by showing her teeth so we walked out to the parking lot and behind me were 2 nurses or docs laughing and talking they got into a mercedes rolled down there windows music blasting driving down towards us while we crossed we stoped in middle the crosswalk cause my wife was having contractions he was coming so fast we didnt know wich direction he is coming to so we stopped he passed us by almost an inch from hitting us so i stared at him like why are you so wild and crazy he stoped and started screaming at us i told i am sorry witbout an explanation my brother was pissed an asked him whats your problem they started screaming back something about that they are paying taxes for the road thats i when i saw there true colors...... you might have a good experience but its all fake .

Worst hospital I have ever seen in my life, I am so surprised the health department hasnt shut them down. This hospital mistreated the family of my friend. They are not kind, especially the security guard named Frank Quinones with an aptitude and bad body language that my friend couldnt understand how he was treating them with a terrible bad attitude when they were dealing with a person in comma and who was dying. In fact, he died the day after. The hospital even called the police. The hospital security guard named Quinones failed to communicate with my friends family and wanted the police to arrest them because they didn’t understand what Quinones was asking them to do. This hospital couldnt find a translator. I give this hospital an F for mistreating people specially Spanish and hiring people that do not know how to communicate and treat people that are suffering like shit. DO NOT GO THERE.

I have been treated here this morning on SUNDAY Nov-6 ,with broken bone in my foot. Love the FRONT desk young lady. Nice, helpful greeting me with nice smile and when she saw me living on crutches she wish me the best. Nurse was fantastic ,administration person -great , doctor -he was experienced with my injury .he explained me my injury, treatment and follow up - . ... ONLY MY REFERRAL WAS TO PODIATRIST NOT TO ORTHOPEDIST.-as they diagnose patient with broken bones (podiatrist -they have no cast/no buts. )SO WATCH TO WHOM YOU REFERRED TO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my X-trey tech he was serious when he come to push my bed to the X-room . So i asked him -"if he has a driver licence ".he start laughing - .After 2.5 hours i left hospital with soft cast .Very busy emergency room . Were fortunate to have this hospital in our area .

Both my parents have been admitted numerous times to this hospital due to dads heart attacks and my moms emphysema. Ive been unimpressed with their service up until now. The Ambulatory Surgical unit, I was very impressed by everyone I came in contact with. They were helpful, nice, outgoing, caring. Dr. Fond, Dr. Raichelson, and every nurse that worked on/with my father went above and beyond. They made a stressful situation more bearable. They took the time to talk and listen to my dad. The cafeteria staff were nice and helpful as well. Thank you to each and everyone of you! As for the new Emergency Department, RDU, on the 4th floor. The doctors and staff were wonderful and attentive. If youre lucky enough to get Gerri as your PCA, you will discover how awesome she is. She made my dad comfortable and was overall amazing.

I have no idea why this hospital is still open! A few weeks ago I went to the ER with stroke-like symptoms. The receptionist was rude, the hospital is dirty and decrepit and the staff were in no hurry to run any tests. I waited almost two hours before having a CT scan done and never once saw a doctor. Instead I was seen by a physician assistant who ordered no blood work to verify her diagnosis of lime disease but instructed me to have it done by my primary. I am actually happy that they did not stick me with anything while I was there. If I was indeed having a stroke, I would have been dead. This hospital is a complete waste of time and money and I am not the least bit surprised that it is rated one of the worst hospitals in New York. Save yourself and go elsewhere.

Kudos to the Case Managers at Nyack, especially Vivianne. Twice within a year I worked directly with Vivianne on behalf of my mother and she is exceptional. She seems to really care about her patients. She is very warm, very compassionate and her follow through was top notch. Thank you Ms. Vivianne. You epitomize what nursing care should always be about. You could teach the floor nurses a thing or two about follow through. They are usually lovely but never seem to have enough staff to take care of the patients the way they should. The union there needs to look out for them better. Anyway, Vivianne, I I know you will be spot on if I ever need you again. Thanks again for you kindness and professionalism.
