After waiting in the main area for an hour and a half, we were taken back to triage for questions and blood pressure screening. Then, we were moved to the secondary waiting room (a hallway between the ER rooms and the main waiting area) and waited there for an hour and 45 minutes. Blood work and an IV feed were done during this time. While there, our name was called a few times (once to do a full registration that couldnt be done during the first hour for SOME reason and a few other times for most tests.... I guess they couldnt remember they had put us there and not back in the main waiting area like all the other patients). Finally, we were put in an ER room. The patient was told to change into the gown and her nurse would be right in to see her..... an HOUR later the nurse arrived (after we pushed the call button). After complaining about the pain, the nurse left.... we never heard anything. We called again and got another nurse or tech and again mentioned the pain.... they left. About a half hour later, pain mess and an IV bag were finally hooked up. We then sat there another hour when the IV became empty and the IV alarm sounded. It took about 2 minutes or more for the nurse to enter and stop the alarm. She was busy getting mess for another patient so she would have to return to put on a new IV. Fine. I helped the patient to the bathroom and we returned only to sit there and wait another 30 minutes for the new IV bag (by the way, the nurse was no longer busy with the other patient. She was sitting at the computer staring at something). Finally, we got the nurse back in...... it was at least another 3 hour wait to see a doctor. It was now 1:30am. The patient I was with had had enough, we left without treatment. The pain mess were enough for now. I cannot believe the lack of organization, management, observation and compassion this hospital has shown in their ER. I would rather take my chances staying home ill before I set foot in that ER again.

Women’s Health and Imaging, Rochester,ny CAUTION***BEWARE*** I went in with paperwork from my doctor for a "routine" mammogram at Unity Women’s Health and Imaging . My routine mammogram is covered 100% by my insurance. Women’s Health and Imaging did not do a "routine" mammogram. Women’s Health and Imaging decided to do some "diagnostic" stuff and never told me it was not the "routine". I just got 2 bills for ~350 bucks. Now they expect me to pay ~350.00 when they never told me when they did the exam that it was not routine and it was diagnostic and I was going to pay for it all.. I would not mind paying it if they had been upfront and told me it was going to cost me. They never did. I think they hide it from you purposely. Just PLEASE beware and ask what the charges are before they do ANYTHING. I wonder how people get stuck paying this bill! Update. I talked with my insurance company yesterday about an appeal I was going to file. After doing some checking my insurance company said "yes it was supposed to be routine" and that I was right. I previously had spoken with the Nurse Manager at Unity and she told me that insurance companies change all the time!! She told me I had to pay the bills. Nurse Manager, J. P., swears they do no wrong!!! But guess what. They screwed up!! My insurance company made about 4 calls and are getting the BILLS reprocessed so I am covered 100%. Unity likes to throw the word "Diagnostic" around you without telling you that really means "you pay". Just be careful. This is 2 years in a row I had trouble with their interpretations from my doctor or insurance company. I dread going there next year and will most likely not. This was A LOT of wasted time and very stressful talking to the Nurse Manager and getting nowhere with her.

Someone I know has a previous head injury, suffers from a number of issues that meds are required not to mention a strong case of vertigo, He fell two times two days ago, yesterday he fell in the middle of a 4 lane highway and got knocked up pretty bad with a black eye, scraped arms and legs and disorientated. Rgh transferred him to Unity. They rushed an evaluation putting on his forms that he was ok to be discharged as he walked ok with a walker and before I could arrive they discharged him before we could get there and talk to anyone. I was hoping to come in and talk to the Drs and ask if help was available due to the fact he seems to be deteriorating and becoming less and less able to take care of himself. I was called by my daughter who went to pick him up as he said the discharged him and he was in the lobby. I am disgusted and shocked. I called and talked to 2 different people that were in charge of him. They said they could not help me. I said you have an injured man who lives in an apt that has 25 stairs just to get into his apt. You discharged a man with no ride, no help and was picked up by someone as he waited outside. fyi his discharge was NOT AMA. Why did noone ask family any questions. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO A SAFE DISCHARGE!!!! SHAME ON YOU. I PUT IN MY RECORDS TODAY NEVER TO GO THERE AND NEVER LET MY FAMILY GO THERE.

My niece is in this place. She was 1st admitted 8 days ago. They told her, after many tests & a spinal tap, that she had viral meningitis. So they start giving her antibiotics (which I always thought were useless when its viral) & she starts feeling better and they tell her she will probably go home in a few days. Then a few days later they tell her it was not meningitis but a staph infection & give her more antibiotics. She seem to improve so in a few days they send her home. By the next night she is very sick & her dad brings her back there. They tell her she now has an infection of the large intestine. Again with the antibiotics and they are always telling her that they are running tests. For what nobody seems to know. Next day she feels better and they tell her going home in 3 days. Then the next morning she does not feel well they run more tests and now are telling her she has a blood clot in her lung!!! What the heck. They do not know what they are doing and it is very scary. If you live in Rochester, NY please go to U of R Medical Center or Rochester General, Unity sucks big time.

What a dreadful experience we had when my both my parents were hospitalized at Unity in September of 2015. Repeatedly, over a period of six weeks, they were discharged and readmitted, due to poor choices by their healthcare providers. Lack of follow up in the hospital left my mother with a UTI and my father with renal failure. To make matters worse, the billing and coding staff continued to make errors, adding up to more than $12,000!!! Nine months later, we were pleased that insurance company finally was able to get the hospital to properly resubmit their claims, only to have the hospital send their charges to a collection agency! And that was after we were assured by that this wouldnt go to collections. Very sleezy for a place that is supposed to care for people in need. I will note, however that the ICU staff, that we got to know very well, was extremely compassionate. It was only while my parents were under the care of the ICU staff did I feel safe to leave the hospital to care for small children.
