I went in October of 2013, because my dog Jake was tired and limping- I thought that maybe he broke his leg. Immediately when I walked in the door the receptionist said - he tore his ACL - here let me get you paperwork on it. I told her that I would like to have him see a doctor first before committing to a 3,000- 5,000 surgery. First ISSUE: I havent even seen a doctor yet- how is the receptionist able to diagnose my dog? I went in to see Dr. KARKHECK whos spent less then 45 seconds in the room looks at him and said he tore his ACL and she recommended surgery- had the paperwork in her hand quoted, me a price and told me that if I cared about my dog I would take care of him this way. In less then 1 minute she was in and out of the room. I told her that I didnt feel comfortable with out doing blood work and seeing if there was some thing else. She said ok and gave me a prescription for some pain meds. Second Issue: Why is the patients owner suggesting blood work and you are refusing to do so? Third Issue: I didnt realize your time was that valuable that it couldnt be wasted by spending more then a minute with us. After the visit, Jake regained his energy- I decided to not give him the pain medicine she gave him- something in my gut told me not to. Flash forward a few months, Jake was fine for a few months- seemed better then he normally was. Then the same thing happened again. My fiance decided to take him back to the Suffern Animal hospital and He saw Dr. FRENCH. Dr. Frenchs prescribed him an antibiotic- with the wrong dosage and it almost killed him. He also did not offer any blood work but offered to have Jake do an X- ray that would cost us $500.00 - quoted my fiance right then and there. My fiance only took the medicine and said that we would discuss it together and see if the medicine helped. Jake got increasingly worse. I tried to call to speak with Dr. French however his receptionist told me he was with someone- which is fine Im sure he is busy but when I told them it was an emergency- they offered no assistance. They never forwarded my information on. I called 7 times between 9 and 3 pm before actually getting Dr. French on the phone. He lied to me on the phone about the diagnosis told me that he suggested blood work - I knew he was lying because he changed his story & forgot my dogs name called him something else completely. He then told me that the medicine he gave was never clinically tested on dogs so he himself wasnt sure of a good amount to give him. I couldnt believe what I just had heard and was in complete shock - he offered to come back in and he would see Jake right away. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. I brought Jake to another animal hospital in the area- they took two hours asking more questions then I could ever imagine and found that Jake simply has Lyme disease. The test results came in this morning. He has Chronic Lyme disease so if the Doctors at Suffern Animal hospital asked any questions at all they would of figured this out. From the front desk to the doctors- they are horrible.

If there was a worse rating I would have chosen that. I brought my bunny here to get a diagnosis for the reason she was excreting blood and it turned out the she had uterine cancer. But while she was there, they dropped her and dislocated her hip. This is what eventually lead to her death. When Doctor French called and informed us of this he had little to no compassion for this and sounded like he could care less. She survived the surgery for removal of the grown in her uterus but couldnt move around much and wasnt walking on her leg. When we took her to another hospital they informed us that there were few options to take care of this and the ones they presented had little chance of working. This doctor french did not inform us of. Our rabbit stopped eating and drinking due to the pain on her hip and after many trips to other vets in attempts to save her, her heart gave out. I would NEVER take my pet here ever again, and dont recommend you do.

Dr. French and his team have been an amazing resource for us since we adopted our cherished rescue dog 8 years ago. At our first visit, he offered a discount because she was an adopted animal! Just last week I found an abandoned kitten and they lovingly accepted her into their adoption program. SAH has a tremendous commitment not only to their clients but to the community they serve. Their long standing commitment to homeless animals should be a model for all animal hospitals! We love SAH and would recommend them to anyone!

Not perfect, but close. Weve been taking our cats to Suffern Animal Hospital (and Dr. French) for the last 6 years since weve lived in the area, and hes the best animal doctor Ive had in my 23 years of having cats. Hes got a great demeanor, is a realist, and is very knowledgeable. Weve tried two other vets in this area since weve lived here and wouldnt go anywhere else. The entire staff is caring and professional.

What a disgusting place. Left me in our room with our dying dog ready to put him down for an hour disregarding our emotions leaving us sitting there ignoring us. Dr. French is a thief stealing money any way he can. I have heard multiple stories of abuses done at his clinic including suffocating a bag of kittens as no one wanted them. I will NEVER return here.

Very kind service. Dr. Finch, along with his staff are excellent. Ive been taking my little pup there for over a year. I had my dog neutered there as well. Excellent treatment, fast recovery and theyre very passionate on what they do. Highly Recommended.

Dr. French is incredibly caring, smart and explains things very well. He is an amazing doctor who tells it real and is definitely not one of those vets who will give you short answers with no explanation why behind it. Dr. French is above excellence!
