Too busy! Feels like a factory. I was in and out in 3 hours! most of the time I was in the waiting room. Woman at front desk is to busy socializing to give full directions. If it is your first visit you will feel confused. Doctor seemed very knowledgeable and efficient but with so many patients she had no time to put my fears at ease or comfort me when I teared up from pain she couldnt leave the room fast enough. After my visit with the Dr. I was told I would need surgery and someone would call me to make appointment and explain details within a couple days. 3 weeks later I received a call from pre-surgery office at hospital to go over details of pre testing I needed for my surgery in a month. I was NEVER contacted by office to even tell me I had operation scheduled (a month after it was supposed to be) The nice woman at the hospital said she didnt know anything about South Bay or why they didnt call especially since December was "so slow at the hospital no one wanted surgery around holidays" When I called South Bay she told me she was sorry but with holidays and snow she didnt call and she didnt know it was an emergency. Since when is any surgery at gyno not an emergency? They have ultra sound in office that is the nicest thing I can say about this factory!!! I get better treatment at the deli section in the food store!

Im not sure why South Bay has so many negative reviews. Ive been going here for a few years now, and recently for my pregnancy. There may have been once or twice when Ive waited for an hour or so, but overall, Im seen in a timely fashion and everyone--doctors, front desk staff, and nurses--has been kind to me, even when it is obvious that they are busy. People do have choices as to when they make their appointments; if you are making your appointments during times when you know the office will be busy, be prepared to wait. Bring a book or music or work. The evening hours are usually busy as evenings are at any doctors office. As far as inappropriate comments made by doctors, I think many people lack a sense of humor. And Ive seen Dr. Lockhart many times as she is my regular doctor; to call her "sassy" shows the other posters ignorance and is clearly a comment related to her race, i.e. stereotyping her as a "sassy black woman." Dr. Lockhart has always treated me with respect and as a professional. I find her attitude to be calming. Separately, Ive also never had to wait to get blood test results. Overall, I highly recommend South Bay and any doctor there, and I suggest that if you do not want to wait, to make an appointment for earlier in the day.

I just moved to the area and I was looking for a new OB/GYN. I had an appointment on Wednesday at 7:40pm I arrived at 7:20 as I was a new pt and I knew there would be forms to fill out. When I arrived I noticed that there were about 10-12 people waiting in the waiting area, I asked if there would be a long wait and I was told "It shouldnt be long" (it was 7:30pm) by 8:15 I was still in the waiting area. I asked the front desk and she apologized and went to the back to check, she called the front desk and told them to have me go to the back. I went into the office right away where I was asked all the usual questions by an assistant and then asked to give a urine sample. I was then put into an exam room where they took my blood pressure and I was given a gown to change and wait for the doctor (8:20pm) by 8:55pm I realized I was still sitting in a gown watching TV in the exam room. I got dressed and walked out!!!! I saw the doctor and 3 nurses/assistants all standing by the station talking. I said "I have been here for nearly 2 hours and this is just ridiculous" The doctor said "Im moving as fast as I can" I find it ridiculous that I was there for 2 hours and never got to see a doctor. If you value your time....STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!

For all the women that are complaing about wait time, the doctors in this office rather you come to them incase of emergency or scare instead of a hospital to not waste your time money or emotions. Your doctors are where u need them and then can easily get u to the hospital fast. This is why there can be hour delays and you never know if its going to be a fast delay or not. Im glad there are women getting the reassurance they need fast, i dont care if i have to wait another hour , and i hope other people would give me the same respect. With that being said i love Dr Sharar she is my ob shes a very caring dr who goes over everything with you answers all questions and makes sure everything is going good. She is also very funny and everytime i go in to see her i get a good laugh. As for the staff im close with a lot of them and i think they are great as well. Ive been going here since i was 15 i am now 28. You can schedule your appointments at slower times if you choose too, i however schedule mine around what dr sharars available schedule so sometimes i wait for a while. love this place

Unfortunately my experience with South Bay OB/GYN has been very negative. Ive been a GYN patient for over two years since I moved to the area and I leave every interaction (phone call or office visit) upset, frustrated, and confused. The only reason I have stayed as long as I have is because I know so many people that go to this office (sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you dont know). There are HORRIBLE WAIT TIMES and have never waited less than 1.5 hours to see my doctor even if I have an appointment first thing in the morning. There is ZERO PERSONAL ATTENTION - you feel like you are cattle just being herded through the process. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - rude office staff, hurried nurses and doctors constantly behind schedule all make for a very unpleasant experience. I have also been given conflicting or WRONG INSTRUCTIONS for taking medications or procedures and never receive call backs when leaving messages for nurses or members of the staff. I cant recommend South Bay OB/GYN to anyone and I am currently in the market for a new OB/GYN.

I should mention that I am not the patient but I go with my wife every time she has an appointment here. As one other reviewer noted, the doctors and nurses are fine but the admin has some serious issues. Patients are consistently over booked so 45 minute wait times are the norm at this clinic. On two occasions we showed up to the office and our appointment was cancelled without ever being notified. This happened twice! just recently we showed up for our appointment only to be told that the doctor had an emergency and there were 6 patients in front of us. Fair enough but there was no attempt made to call us ahead of time to alert us of this and I wasted time off from work. This would have easily been a 2 hour wait so we rescheduled. None of these issues alone would be a deal breaker but it just seems like this office has no respect for your time. My wife is mid pregnancy but we are seriously considering finding another OBGYN.
