Took my 9 week old dwarf hotot rabbit there after she had not pooped for a solid 10 hours. Was told by the ER doctor that we were very lucky because we caught her condition very early. The same ER doctor told us that our bunny needed to be admitted overnight and that there was a 90% chance that we would be able to take our bunny home in the morning. She told us that our bunny would be in good hands, that we were allowed to call for updates all throughout the night and that we would meet with their exotics vet tomorrow during our bunnys ER discharge. I called throughout the night and was told that our bunny was doing well, that she was eating the Critical Care food but still hadnt pooped. When I called 6am the morning she was promised she would be discharged, the ER doctor told us that she still had not gone to the bathroom and that they wanted to keep her again overnight. We met with the exotics doctor at 10am who told us a completely different story than the ER doctor - although the ER doctor and the staff on call had told us they would call us with any emergency or change in her health, and although I called about 5 times between 11P when we brought her there and 6am the next morning, the exotics vet told us that Lily had a bad night and that she went into hypothermia and almost died. He said that she would need to stay in the facilities for at least 3 days because that is how long the treatment usually takes. After 2 full days at this vet, I called in the morning to see how she was doing, still no poop but very alert and eating. However, when Dr. Melrose came in for the day, (only about an hour after my call), he called my boyfriend to tell him how she was in such poor health. He told my boyfriend she needed to get her stomach pumped. I told them both I wanted to put her out of her pain and put her down, however, Dr. Melrose was "uncomfortable" to do that because she was still so alert. After the procedure she finally pooped. She came home with a bunch of medicine and Critical Care food that we were responsible for force feeding her. She was home for one full day before I noticed that her behavior was odd. She had stopped pooping again from the night before when we brought her home, and she was grinding her teeth a lot and bobbing her head back and forth - all signs of extreme discomfort. When we brought her back to the ER that night we were told that she was fine, that she pooped in the back and that they put fluids under her skin to hydrate her. We brought her home yet again. She played with us that night and early in the morning. Here the cycle started again, and by the end of the night she was not pooping, bobbing her head, looking up at the ceiling and breathing weird. We took her to VMCLI yet again, saw the sweetest and most honest vet there, Dr. DeMicco, who straight up did not bullshit us to make more money off of us, but told us that our bunny was indeed suffering and that we could either put her down or continue hospitalization. Bottom line is, after being promised the first night that Lily would be able to come home the next morning and then not having that happened put into perspective that she would not be getting better. I felt like her and I were nothing besides money to these people. The night we put her down we were sitting in the room waiting to say goodbye and the receptionist came in, while I was crying, to come collect the money to put her down. I felt that everyone there, including Dr. Melrose and excluding Dr. DeMicco, strung us along and led us to believe false hope.

NEVER BRING YOUR DOG TO VMCLI!!!! If you have an emergency, this is NOT the place to go. The receptionists are RUDE and the VETS are incompetent!!!! Our dog had shaking, panting, and was circling around late at night, and I knew something was wrong. We brought him to the nearest er vet and he was taken in immediately for an exam. They felt a hard mass and or foreign object that felt like an acorn to them. They told us, that they wanted to take an x-ray. They did find something, but couldnt tell what it was, and wanted to do an ultrasound, stating this would definitely tell us what it was. They let us know he had a severe case of pancreatitis and the mass was the inflammation of his pancreas. He was on meds for two days there. It cost us over $2500 to keep him there. They told us not to bring him to our regular vet as they do not have overnight stay and they are not as advanced as they are. I asked when he is able to come home to let us know. We were on top of them and they stated he was doing well and getting better with the meds he was on. Two days later he came home, and was vomiting and had extreme diahhrea. He was on pepto, tramadol and pepcid. They never gave him a medication for his pancreatitis. 4 days went by and he never ate. They were concerned he wasnt eating and to bring him back. Of course they wanted to charge us more for one night, then they did for a whole day. They still said he had pancreatitis and he needed to be hydrated (but he was drinking water at home) there. We decided to bring him home and hydrate him ourselves and wait till our vet was opened. When we went to our regular vet, he stated that the paperwork they sent to them does not have a definative answer to what he has. That the pancreas was mildly enlarged. So, he wanted to give him another exam, within 5 minutes our doctor knew there was a blockage and he immediately did a test with barium. This concluded he in fact had a blockage and they immediately did surgery. They found a large peach pit in his intestines, and also found that his intestines were ripped apart from the peach pit and that they couldnt understand why VMCLI didnt notice this or look into the hard mass and or foreign object. They also didnt understand why they would think a hard mass would then be pancreatitis. They said his pancreas was good and that there was no pancreatitis. This was MALPRACTICE and he is now in critical conditon. They had to remove 12 inches of his intestines. If they knew what they were doing our dog would be home with us, now he is fighting for his life. I WILL NEVER BRING ANY OF MY ANIMALS HERE EVER AGAIN!!!!!

I dont even know where to begin but someone lied. Either the receptionist or the doctor because you have to be both blind and stupid to not realize when some poor animal is paralyzed from the waist down, dehydrated, and near hypothermic. The dog got into a bunny nest and really messed the little guys up while I wasnt home. So I pulled out one dead one he didnt eat covered in various bugs out of the hole and the other one is lethargic and not moving, its legs are splayed out oddly and its cold. It looked like the legs were broken or something and it was not doing so good so my aunt took them over to this place because we were told by a local rescue that they treat wildlife. Worst comes to worse, they could easily euthanize the poor thing so it wouldnt have to suffer. Well, they got turned away because they were told "its fine", which it was very clearly not. So they called me and I said okay, I have some wildlife veterinary experience let me take a look. Well the poor things hind legs are literally paralyzed. I called back and said, why did you turn them away and reexplained what had happened and the state the baby was found in. The receptionist said that didnt sound right and put me on hold. When she came back she said no it was checked over and nothing is wrong. I honestly wanted to scream but just conceded because you cant win with horrible people. The bunny was clearly hurt, Ive worked in Rehab before, I know what a sick/injured baby looks like. They were being adament. After placing it on a heating pad to warm it up and giving a small amount of KMR he began to move about and get his strength back and look healthy again except for the part where he was dragging himself around with his front paws because hes FREAKING PARALYZED. Those back legs and feet dont move for nothing, not even a wiggle. Honestly what the flip? Even if you somehow didnt realize it was paralyzed you could easily see it was weak and cold and you chose to lie and do nothing. And I dont want to hear any bs about when its that young the back legs dont work, my friend literally raises domestic rabbits and rehabs wild ones and shes like yup, they lied. He cant move those legs for anything. Completely unethical and really fkd up. I dont see how a licensed vet could miss those things without missing them on purpose. But I guess Ill go ahead and put a paralyzed baby back in the abandoned, wrecked by dog, nest (jk Im taking it to ppl who actually care) but people who read this should really think about taking their animal someplace else because honestly that level of dishonesty or ineptitude is dangerous.
