Leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because I have been here once before and had a totally fine experience. My last experience was so terrible though that I will never go back unless I have absolutely no other option. The other night I had to bring my dog in around 2am. He has swallowed a piece of metal before, and was acting similar so we thought he may have done it again. So we brought him in, and there were a few other patients in the waiting room. Apparently they had a critical patient, so I tried my best to be understanding during the 5 hour wait to be seen. The first thing that set me off was when we were finally next in line to be seen, another owner & dog came in with what appeared to be very similar symptoms our dog had. The employee clearly recognized the dog & owner, and told them they would get a doctor to see them ASAP and they were seen before us. I dont know the full circumstances behind this so Im hesitant to bring it up, but it was definitely infuriating after waiting for ~4 hours with our dog crying and yelping non-stop in our laps. When we finally were seen around 7AM, we were apologized to profusely about the wait which was fine. It was a super unfortunate circumstance, they may have been understaffed and there was clearly an emergency going on in the back. The doctor who saw us was wonderful, she was very kind & helpful. Got our dog his x-ray and brought them back promptly. Ordered him some meds and told us someone would be in shortly to see us. After around an hour wait for the meds I could not take anymore. I understood the emergency was still going on, but we could literally hear some employees behind the back door laughing and joking around. I walked out into the lobby, greeted by sunlight and a room full of patients and multiple receptionists behind the desk. I asked one of the receptionists if they could see if someone could come help us, he did go look for somebody and ~30 minutes later someone came in with his meds. Im not upset about the initial wait, it was late-night hours, they had multiple patients and an emergency. Im upset about the extra hour and a half wait that followed, when we could clearly hear employees in the back not working on the emergency patient. All we needed was his meds, and after the initial wait the following 1.5 hours in the exam room was becoming unbearable. I hope this was an isolated incident but regardless, I will not be going back there unless I have no other option.

All these people care about is money, The vet who treated my cat was one Julia Chant, who missed a growing tumor, despite being specifically told about it, and further ignoring it, causing the cat to suffer greatly in her later months, being unable to eat, drink etc. I hope that Julia Chant suffers a similar disease, contracts the most painful form of cancer, lingers for a long time in agonizing pain, and agony, dies, and rots in hell for all eternity-that my lifetime long wish for Julia Chant. Moral of this story-dont let her touch your pet. To make thing worse, they ordered all sorts of very expensive tests, including MRIs, CAT scans, consultations with a New York Doctor in Bedford, and another in Norwalk, before they would perform surgery. On the morning of the scheduled surgery, I was told by the surgeon that she would not do it because it was too risky, even after spending $5,000.00, that right, $5,000.00 on preliminary tests. The surgeon is a women from Canada, who could not get into a veterinary School in the USA. Gives you an idea of the quality of care that Pieper Olsen doles out. Bottom line, find another vet as Pieper Olson cares only about money and they will string you out as long as they can with necessary "tests", examinations, revisits, etc, until you run out of money, and then they will tell you there is nothing else they can do, and your beloved pet dies. Like I said earlier, I hope Julia Chant enjoys a fate similar to my cat and that she rots in HELL for all eternity. Lastly, you have to wonder how many of these five (5) star postings are self-serving statements by the staff of Pieper-Olsen. I stand by my original statement-that Julia Chant suffers a similar disease, contracts the most painful form of cancer, lingers for a long time in agonizing pain, and agony, dies, and rots in hell for all eternity-that my lifetime long wish for Julia Chant. You have to wonder how many of the five star ratings are fabrications by self-serving Pieper Olson staff members. I follow the local obituaries every day, praying to see that of Chant, so that I can piss on her grave.

My 16 yr old cat started to show signs of not being well, He stopped eating and in just a few days became very weak. I woke up Sunday and noticed he has a bright yellow poo all over his legs. I washed him up and watched him. Later in the day he seemed to be disoriented. I called Piper Olsen since I saw that they are a new 24hr facility-and right up the street from me. The woman called me back and said sure-well seem him for 85$ emergency fee. Stunned I agreed since I was worried. The vet came in and looked and said he really didnt know for sure but that if I left him her could run tests. (5 whole minutes) After leaving me in the room for a bit the vet tech came back with an estimate of low 450 and high 700. Now I love my kitty but certainly was taken back by the chaos of charges I "may" have to pay for my sick kitty. Stunned and confused as to what the invoice said and how they charge I told the vet tech that I just wanted some lab work to determine the problem. She proceed to explain the invoice blood work 89, after hours 85 admitting the kitty 23, medicine for the overnight 100.00 50 bucks for a catheter..... and it went on and on and on Still Stunned I said i would bring my kitty home and take my chances for the night and go to my own Holistic vet in the am and also check with my other vet, Dr. Brooks in Middlefield. In my experience Dr Brooks charges are fair but more importantly hes all about the animals and honest. As I was leaving I hand the vet tech 100.00 and say please just give me my change and Ill take my kitty home. She tells me,"oh , Im sorry I dont have change-come back in the am! BAD BUSINESS!!!!! To me it looks as if this is the way they will pay for the huge addition theyve put on at their facility.

Its important to keep in mind the high care standards that are needed especially in all the newest techniques/medicine for our fur children. I am so glad its Pieper-Olson . Our dachshund had needed his second immediate emergency back surgery,( the first was not here but at a hospital in CT that has gone down hill in all aspects of care, personnel, and should not hold itself out as an emergency vet hospital and actually sent us away with a just wait and see plan- in my mind negligent and abusive), so it was this second event that we needed to seek out immediate care and have the surgery right away. This is the point, there was no hesitation with this outstanding Vet Hospital on what was needed and it was emergency care that was provided and surgery was performed as quickly as possible. The doctors we had are excellent esp. Dr. Cohen, and Dr. Hammond and neurology doctors. The technician staff are excellent in before and post op care and comfort and show devotion and love for your fur children - its here. From the first step in the door until leaving, we were comforted and cared for with the utmost professional manner. I would want this care for myself. A 5 stars Awesome for fantastic care and this should be viewed as a model hospital. IF there is something that wasnt right, I would have said it here, for five days we had the best care you could imagine. and even afterwards or anytime you could call for assistance with friendly, loving staff . Super Kudos! TY to Dawn, Erin and Everyone who Loved Duker back to Health!
