This is by far the worst experience Ive ever had. I scheduled an appointment and was seen by Kelly, Kelly mentioned that she was a PA but did not give her last name, her practice or what she may even specialize in. Kellys assistant/student did not greet me nor did she mention her name. My appointment was to inquire about the bald spots in the front of my head. Kellys initial words were "As you know Alopecia is common in African American women because of the weaves and the hair styles you wear. " Kelly briefly looked at my spots determined it was alopecia. Kelly then advised me that the hair more than likely will not grow back because of the hair styles African American women wear. Before I could get a word in Kelly dictates that she can give me injections in my head before I could respond Kellys gloves were on and she was drawing up some form of solution. I had to ask Kelly what she was giving me if it had any side effects etc Kellys answers were short. Before I knew it Kelly was injecting me with a steroid and not even 2 minutes later the appointment was over. I was in and out writhin 10 minutes. I am beyond disgusted that Kelly did not do her research and that she thought this was true quality care. There was no conversation, she did not ask questions, she did not do blood work NOTHING!! Kellys care felt more like judgement with a side of stereo type and a dash of dictation. Kelly made me feel like another quick check from insurance or like another black girl that should know "wearing weave causes Alopecia. " Walking out of that appointment I know that I have alopecia (Kelly told me) what causes it "black hair styles" what is alopecia or different treatment options, what levels in my blood work should I pay attention to? I dont have answers too ask Kelly. And to the assistant following her if you have any desire to provide care in the manner Kelly did today I encourage you to be better, nonjudgmental and educated just a few of the things your mentor/ trainer lacks. And last but not least to the rude young man at check out get a coffee or some sleep and pretend like you are interested in doing the simple task of scheduling follow up appointments. Disgusted to the pit of my stomach.

Ive heard the saying "you should get a skin check" often but never thought anything of it. As a younger individual I never thought Id be at risk of skin cancer or have spots that could be of concern. After learning more and more about melanoma and the statistics I went for a skin check. For starters, the staff was able to get me in within a week, which is a feat in itself. I was seen by Peter, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and transparent. After a through review of my skin, there was a spot of concern. Peter took the time to explain to me why it was concerning and what the next steps should be. Approximately 5 minutes later, he has already removed the area of concern. Since then, Ive taken all preventative measures (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, avoid the sun for long periods of time, etc.) to ensure this doesnt happen again. Since my scare, my wife and two young children have all been in for a skin test. Theres no age limit on melanoma so take action before its too late. Thank you Peter and all the friendly staff for taking good care of me and my family.

The worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. She made me feel guilty for having prior knowledge on what I have. I came in with a problem that was affecting my face, so of course I did EXTENSIVE research prior to the appointment, including calling my own primary care physician. She gave me a cream that I was told by two doctors prior NOT to even THINK about using. And after asking her about how this cream is unsafe to use, she told me that what I did to my face prior the visit is why i need the cream. What a bunch of cr*p. I scheduled an appointment with a different dermatologist and she said that whoever gave me the cream to use is crazy. And low and behold, the issue on my face has dissapeared under the new dermatologists care. This place is too big and could obviously care less about its patients. Im stunned that this even happened.

I was looking forward to seeing a dermatologist for the first time and hopeful that I would leave with a sense of confidence and a plan to get my acne under control. I felt my appointment was rushed and not thorough. The dermatologist I saw spent less than 5 mins talking to me. I expected in my initial appointment to go over the current products I use, best ways to wash/ maintain my skin, products or procedures to avoid, etc. The extent of our conversation was that she will prescribe me a $195 topical gel and to let her know if I have excessive drying of my skin from it and if not she will see me in two months. My skin hasnt improved since my appointment a few weeks ago and I am hesitant to continue spending money on half hearted appointments. However, the facility was very clean and organized and all the staff were friendly and polite.

I was told "Sometimes nothing is better than something" and to paraphrase I was told... If I had been bitten by a bug, I would have had to of been repeatedly bitten, and it would have to be in a foreign country, and I would also have to be there, and if I were there, I would be dead". I was given a so called FULL skin scan, since I was being asked questions about another patient, not sure that is proper, she was too busy to actually look at my skin. I asked my own questions and every answer given was NO. Very rude, unpleasant visit and no result, help, recommendations, or guidance, basically because no questions of my lifestyle, products or skincare were asked. But they did hack my arm for a biopsy, that took over 2 months to heal and I have a big scar now.

This was my first visit to WNY Dermatology. I was very impressed. I did not have to wait long for my appointment in the waiting room (maybe 10 or 15 minutes). The office staff, nurses and PA were very professional & pleasant. I do not remember the name of the PA that treated me but he was very kind & interested in my medical history even though most of it had nothing to do with my visit to the "skin doctor" (I was recently recovering from a 3rd back surgery & he was very interested to hear everything about it.) I would HIGHLY recommend this practice to anyone.

When you spend money and time to go a dermatologist, you expect to be examined, to have some in depth discussion about concerns and you expect to come out of the office feeling satisfied. Nothing like that happened on my visit. The PA was done with active discussion in hardly 5 minutes AND in those 5 minutes, she jept referring me to the spa. Very disappointed and furious. If i want to go the spa-i wouldnt pay moneyto be sent there. RIDICULOUS attitude.

I have been to Western NY Dermatology and Healthy Complexions Spa and enjoy it immensely. The staff and Doctor are very knowledgeable and I had a fantastic experience with the treatment I received. I would highly recommend to others.
